Many RV sites feature gravel pads with some having notable spacing limitations. "The spaces are so tight I could almost touch my neighbor's RV without taking a step, and pulling into the spot, my back end swung and broke a light off because there's not enough space to even drive down the lane."
Several parks in the region maintain dump stations that supplement full hookup availability. Pet policies generally permit dogs, though specific breed restrictions may apply. Most RV parks provide reliable cell service, with networks covering the major highways connecting these destinations. Carlisle and Gettysburg locations require navigation along some narrower roads that can present challenges for wider vehicles. Fall weekends typically see campgrounds reaching capacity, particularly at Thousand Trails properties. According to one visitor, "Our wheelspan from front to back has at least a 6-inch slope. There are several Class As on our row with wheels a couple of inches off the ground," suggesting travelers should pack leveling blocks when visiting area campgrounds.
"The biggest downside to this particular campground is its very close proximity to the PA Turnpike, which while convenient, might detract a bit from the peace & quiet you might be expecting when here"
"Tucked into the rolling, wooded hills of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country RV Resort offers a unique blend of peaceful countryside and activity-packed camping, all just a stone"
"While it offers nice amenities and a shuttle to Hersheypark, the campground itself is very tight, cramped, and hard to navigate."
"I stayed at HersheyPark Camping Resort with my family over the extended Easter weekend this year. "
from $50 - $60 / night
"We stayed at Appalachian to visit a friend who has a seasonal site. Our site was full hook up."
"Family friendly. Lots for the kids to do."
"There seem to be a lot of seasonal campers but everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. We had a pull-through site with W/S/E, which made dumping, etc much easier that pulling to a dump site."
"It’s a nice campground with a lot of amenities for all. Everyone whom I had contact with that had season sites were very friendly and provided some good info."
"While its proximity to the highway makes access easy, the property itself is gated, organized into distinct camping zones and packed with amenities that clearly cater to longer stays and families looking"
"campground so inconveniently located (more on this later) right next to highway I76."
"Off-season so not crowded. Pool was clean and quite good sized, had it to ourselves due to season. Did laundry while here, ample laundry room."
"We were looking for a semi-local final fall get-a-way near us. What better location for that than Gettysburg."
"The spots are a little tight but we were able to get our 46’ toy hauler in the spot with very little effort. Because the sites are back-in, we can’t use our rear patio but that is ok."
"The staff was very friendly and our site was a good location. People were all friendly and welcoming! We came in early fall with 3 kids."
"I got an amazingly large site with a nice fire pit and picnic table. The site was very level so that was great! Nice indoor and outdoor pools! Cable TV isn't free, but I never use it anyway."
"We got pretty lucky and were assigned one of the concrete pads that was pretty level. It is absolutely beautiful out."
"We stumbled upon this brand new campground (was just built this spring) along the Juniata River in Mifflintown PA, fell in love with it, and purchased our first seasonal site!"

Great campsite. Fire pit, picnic table, swimming pool ( not open), miniature golf course, laundromat, bathrooms, showers, dump station, gathering areas for groups, playground, and even a horse area and stalls for horses. Dog friendly. Staff was very helpful and curious.
We booked two nights mid October not realizing that it's duck hunting season and that hunting is allowed RIGHT by the campground - with kids everywhere. We were jolted out of sleep at 5 am by gun fire right near our site. It kept up for the next hour. In addition, the bathrooms, although clean are in poor condition. Peeling paint everywhere with bare concrete in the showers. For such a pretty site, we had a miserable stay. We left after one night.
Where we were camping had blown up their dump station. Artillery Ridge helped us out. $10. to dump. If we come to camp in Gettysburg, it will be hear.
You just can't beat a pennsylvania park. This one is not an exception. Nice clean restroom, plenty of room. Now, what cost a star. Yes, it rained like hell. When we broke camp and go dump. The dump station was overflowing with sewer. Go to the guard shack to tell them, and find another site. None there. Can I go to an unused full hookup to dump? No! I would have to pay for the site. Two hours later, we found a place to dump for $10.
The advertisements for Olde Mill Campground were disingenuous. The campsite was 20 yards from a roller coaster. The NOISE of the roller coaster and children on it screaming was as relentless and unnerving as any train we have ever slept near. There was no quiet until almost midnight. The “pull-through” site left my truck almost in the road and our 25’ Airstream slightly over the road on the backside. The site was not level. The sites were close enough to hear a neighbor’s snoring.
This pet friendly campground in Caledonia State Park is .8 miles from the larger Chinquapin campground (no pets), ranger station and swimming pool. Our site #171 was level, paved, full hook ups and next to modern clean bathrooms with flush toilets, warm showers and outside dish washing sinks. Many available sites with and without services on a Sunday in October. There were a good number of friendly, tidy, long term campers with large wall tents. (They allow 21 day stays after Labor Day)
We only spent the night and didn't look at the amenities. The manager was very friendly and accommodating.
The area is very nice and so are the people. The sites are clean and the livestock are a cool sight to see

Water pressure considerations: Several campgrounds experience variable water pressure. "Water pressure is pretty low and the sewer pipe is a little high but all around a really solid experience," notes Nick E. about Thousand Trails PA Dutch Country. Bringing a water pressure regulator and extra water hose can be helpful.
Hookup locations: Sewer and water connections at older campgrounds can be awkwardly placed.
