Campgrounds near Millbury, Ohio provide varied options for overnight stays in northwestern Ohio. Major facilities in the area include Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA in Perrysburg and Maumee Bay State Park Campground in Oregon, both within 15 miles of Millbury. These established campgrounds accommodate tent camping, RV sites with hookups, and cabin rentals. The region includes several state parks and service plaza overnight parking areas along the Ohio Turnpike, creating a mix of natural recreation areas and convenient travel stops for those passing through.

The camping season throughout the region typically runs from April through October, though some campgrounds remain open year-round with limited winter services. "We stayed for 4 nights while visiting friends and family. There had been tons of rain so it wasn't as nice as I'm sure it is during normal weather. Lots of wet and muddy areas," noted one visitor about Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA. Weather conditions significantly impact the camping experience, with spring and fall offering more moderate temperatures but occasional rain. Summer brings heat, humidity and mayflies, particularly near Lake Erie at Maumee Bay. Most campgrounds require reservations during peak summer months, with weekends often filling weeks in advance.

Campers report varied experiences across the developed campgrounds in the area. State park facilities like Maumee Bay feature more natural settings with beach access and hiking trails, while private campgrounds like the KOA offer more amenities such as swimming pools and planned activities. Service plaza camping areas provide basic overnight convenience for travelers. A recent review highlighted the mayfly situation at Maumee Bay: "There are sooooo many mayflies around - flying, landing on you & your gear, and oftentimes covering the ground around the park. Totally fine if you're not shy of bugs, but something to be mindful of." Many campgrounds in the area feature shaded sites, with full hookups available at most locations for RVs. Tent campers have fewer options but can find designated sites at state parks and some private campgrounds.

      Maumee Bay State Park Campground

We camped in September 2026, site 51. Our pad was pretty level and long for us with a short camper. The fire ring was permanently in the ground, which is nice so that people don’t move it around. It was a short walk to the shower house, which was really nice and clean good showers. And we happen to be there during one of their fall fest weekends and they had all kinds of activities for kids to do which was really nice. They have a little trails that go in between some of the campgrounds and around one of the little ponds. Check-in was super easy and there is a dump station as well. What’s nice about a lot of these sites is that there is some kind of trees or big bushes that separates you from your neighbor.

Sites are modest but it's. A nicely maintained area. Sites are nice and flat and the people in the office are very nice.

      Wayne County Fairgrounds RV Park

      Great stop over

This isn’t a remote getaway, it’s a great spot that’s close to everything you need. Some reviews commented on the highway noise, I had no issues. Staff was friendly and helpful, facilities were clean. There’s an illuminated walk path that connects to the Walmart which is super convenient.

      Detroit/Ann Arbor KOA

      Home State Kudos

I came, desperate and exhausted...I saw, an opportunity for an extended stay...I conquered, my inexperience was met with warmth and accommodating camp attendants and camp neighbors. And God was with me the entire journey from Virginia to this Blessed Ground in Michigan. Seems forever had I longed for so much Peace and Quiet. Forever grateful am I. 😇🥰

      Maumee Bay State Park Campground

      Great State Park Campground

I spent one night passing through the area after visiting Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The hedges separating the campsites provides some privacy and it was a quiet location.

The park’s beach on Lake Erie is nearby. While hidden by the landscaping, the bathhouse was conveniently located and the path well lit without detracting from the camping experience at the campsite.

      Deshler Crossroads Park

      Camping right near the Tracks

Deshler, OH offers a campground in Crossroads Park, famous for 4 sets of train tracks and the ability to see trains from all over. This campground is best suited for train enthusiasts, because you are with 10-20 feet of the tracks. There is a grassy field for tent8ng and parking spots near the pavilion for RV's. It is not big right friendly. Max trailer size should be about 20'. There is a porta potty on-site as well as electrical outlets and a covered pavilion with picnic tables. Gas and convenience stores nearby. Suggested donation is $20/night.

      Twin Acres Campground

Great place for our quick overnight

We were greeted by a very friendly staff and had very little trouble finding our spot. Park has several mobile homes and long-term campers, but that did not detract from our experience. Our pull through was nice and level. Would stop in again if we're ever back this way.

      Adventure Bound Pleasant View

      Decent/not as advertised

Our stay was in an RV Sept 2026.  I had specifically requested and paid extra for a spot on the fishing pond to fish.  Not only was there a lot of long-term campers at this resort, but the fishing pond was covered in duck weed over 3/4 of the water where my site was at, and on the day we left it was 100% covered with duck week.  The duck week invasion was not mentioned to me when I called and made the reservation to be on the water.  In fairness, I will say I caught some fish at the clear end of the pond before it was 100% covered.

The park itself was clean, quiet and decent.  The staff were very nice. The Aqua fun zones water is not clear blue as advertised, it is murky, the 9 hole mini golf is outdated and should be called mini-mini golf as it is very small.   The swimming pool and playground were as advertised.  I cannot answer to the other amenities as I did not see or utilize them.

In conclusion, this campground could benefit greatly from some updating especially of the amenities as they are not what the pictures portray.

    What to do

Boardwalk exploration: The 2-mile boardwalk through wetlands at Maumee Bay State Park Campground provides excellent opportunities for nature observation. "A beautiful and extensive boardwalk constructed by the Ohio Civilian Conservation Corps is available only for foot traffic. Bike rentals are available," notes one camper who visited in both September and May.

Birding opportunities: Oak Openings region offers diverse habitats for birdwatching enthusiasts. "The park is very well maintained. Bird houses and feeders are located throughout the park and especially in the spring, you can hear many varieties of birds chirping," explains a visitor to Maumee Bay. For those camping at White Oak Campground, "Oak openings has everything from pine tree forests to sand dunes," providing varied habitats for wildlife viewing.

Sterling State Park "has a boat launch which is extremely popular and the bass and walleye fishing can't be beat."

    Tips from RVers

"Sites are large, level, and grassy with vegetation barriers between sites with mowed buddy site access at back of each site," reports a Maumee Bay camper. At Sterling State Park, "This park will accommodate any size travel trailer, fifth wheel camper of any kind, the pull throughs are huge."

Overnight convenience: For those traveling through the region, service plazas offer convenient overnight options. At Blue Heron Ohio Turnpike RV Lot, "Highway stop is open 24 hrs so you have food and bathrooms all night. Everything is bright, nice and clean and feels very safe. Free overnight stay allowed and for extra $20 you can get electricity."

Dump station considerations: Plan timing for dump station use to avoid delays. "Sunday morning's line at the dump station can get very backed up!" warns a Maumee Bay visitor.
