Delaware State Park Campground provides 212 electric sites with 50-amp service, accommodating RVs up to 90 feet in length on paved sites with grassy areas. The park remains open year-round with a convenient dump station and water fill station near the entrance. "The campsites were well maintained and it was quiet. We did not have time to enjoy everything this park has to offer," noted one visitor about their full-time RV experience. Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday operates from May through November with full hookup sites including water, sewer, and both 30/50-amp electric options for travel trailers and motorhomes. Sites at Alum Creek State Park feature level pads with electric hookups, though many premium lakefront spots are claimed by seasonal campers who leave their RVs in place for extended periods.

Throughout the Delaware area, cell service remains generally reliable at most established RV parks, with Verizon reception specifically mentioned as strong at Delaware State Park. Full-hookup options are limited at state parks, with most offering electric-only sites requiring use of dump stations upon departure. During summer weekends, dump station lines can become lengthy, especially at Alum Creek where campers report waiting or visiting alternative locations. Several campgrounds maintain on-site stores with camping supplies and basic groceries, though selection varies considerably between private RV resorts and state facilities. Pet policies differ between locations—most private parks welcome pets while some state park areas maintain restrictions. Advance reservations are strongly recommended, particularly for weekend stays between May and October when RV sites fill quickly due to proximity to Columbus.

      best one we've been to

We camped here for the first time this year and ended up booking 2 more trips here. We just finished our last trip. We love this campsite. No other place has sites this big and give you this much space. Awesome place to camp

      Mohican Adventures Campground and Cabins

Could not ask for a better site. Absolutely beautiful setting. A nice small lake for fishing, and a perfect shallow stream for kids to play in, running right by the sites. The pool house and facilities are spotlessly clean. On top of that, the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We even needed a jumpstart for our truck when we were towing the camper out on a rainy Monday morning and someone came around to help. 100% will come back and 100% would recommend to anyone.

      Alum Creek State Park Campground

      Nice Suburban Campground

Right close to Columbus this campground is a staple for locals trying to just get away for the weekend. There is an amphitheater, a camper’s beach, nature center, and more all within the campground. Alum creek state park is a larger facility surrounding the campground with a public beach, walking paths, mountain bike trails, archery range, hunting areas, boat marina and more. The public beach is rather gravelly but has nice shower houses and grills available. We are attending during fall fest where they put on many activities for the campers and it is a lot of fun. You have to reserve 6 months in advance to be able to get in on fall fest unless there is a last minute cancellation. Our site is relatively flat parking, we didn’t need to level the rig. It did rain the morning we got here and the area around the fire pit was a bit muddy. The view out the back of this camp site is nice and wooded, you’re not looking at your neighbors out the back window. The sides you can definitely see each other but it’s still wooded and secluded enough between the sites here.

      A. W. Marion State Park Campground

      Site 47

We managed to get several sites near each other for 6-7 families and we had a blast. Near bathrooms, quiet, and within walking distance of the kayak launch.

      Delaware State Park Campground

      Love this one!

Great campground. My favorite is each loop has their own shower house! Nice playgrounds for kids. Nice private sites. Lots of woods and trails. Good lake for boating fishing and kayaking. Park is very clean and well maintained. They have a kids fishing pond! It’s also great for biking.

we come back to MW a few times each year as the access to the river and quiet nature of the campground is great. The playground is nice, the store is clean and well stocked.

The swimming one has a dock kids jump off but it only goes to about 3.5-4 feet deep at the deepest point."

Hiking exploration: Wooded trails throughout the area provide nature observation opportunities. Delaware State Park offers "nice trails to walk" with some campers noting the convenient trails that connect throughout the park, allowing hikers to customize their distance.

    What campers like

Private campsites: Many campers appreciate the secluded sites at Delaware State Park Campground where "all the sites have privacy." One visitor noted, "The site we were on was set back in the woods. My daughter had tons of fun exploring the woods connected to our site."

Well-maintained facilities: Cleanliness is frequently mentioned in reviews. "The bathroom on our loop was older def in need of some updating but it wasn't a big deal," reported one Delaware State Park visitor, while another appreciated that "the grounds are very clean and tidy."

Family-friendly amenities: Organized activities keep children entertained at Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday. One reviewer shared, "They have a small workout room which was small but still just enough to get a good pump. The staff was equally amazing. The pool and splash pad were well kept and very clean."

    What you should know

Seasonal restrictions: Most RV sites near Delaware, Ohio operate primarily from May through October. Sunbury/Columbus North KOA Holiday specifically runs "May 1 to Nov 1" according to their season information, limiting winter camping options.

Site variations: Campgrounds offer different types of camping experiences. At Welcome Woods RV Campgrounds, "The site we were at had a very large spacious area. It was a grassy patch no actual pad to park but as we drove around there were plenty of areas that had gravel pads available."

Bathroom facilities: Quality varies significantly between locations. Some campgrounds have basic facilities as one camper at Welcome Woods noted: "The bathrooms come in two varieties. One is a outhouse type room it's a concrete 'toilet' with a toilet seat on it that drops into a hole in the ground and the other is a porta potty."

Reservation requirements: Busy season demands advance planning. Most campgrounds fill quickly on summer weekends, particularly from late May through September when families are most active.

    Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Campgrounds with dedicated play areas keep children engaged. "Kids aged 3-13 all had a blast in the heated pool, on the jump pad and on the zip line swing!" shares a visitor about Sunbury/Columbus North KOA.

Swimming options: Water features provide cooling recreation during hot months. At Arrowhead Lake RV Park, "the pool looked to be the spot for the kids of all ages on this hot 4th of July."

Space considerations: Look for sites with room for children to play. At Sunset Springs RV Resort, families find "the grounds very nice" with one visitor noting, "We absolutely loved it! Everyone was so friendly to us 'weekenders' and can't wait to come back."

Safety measures: Supervised areas keep children secure. Multiple reviewers note that Delaware State Park has "rangers drive through a few times a day to patrol the grounds" providing extra security for families with young children.

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Prepare for varied terrain at different campgrounds. At Sunbury/Columbus North KOA, an RVer observed, "There's a few sites are unlevel so you may need to use your levelers and maybe some blocks, we did."

Connectivity concerns: Cell coverage varies across campgrounds. The same RVer at Sunbury/Columbus North KOA reported, "Wi-Fi (2.4 and 5G) seems good throughout the entire park. Best Wi-Fi I've ever had at a campground. They have Wi-Fi repeater towers everywhere you look. T-Mobile signal was good."

Big rig accommodations: Length restrictions apply at different RV parks near Delaware. At Alton RV Park, one camper found it "a small, maybe 35 sites, clean well maintained campground" that worked well for overnight parking, though not necessarily for extended stays with large vehicles.
