River of Fire

We came here during the 2024 River of Fire Event. The campground was packed but you couldn’t tell because the sites were all so spacious! Half the sites are right on the river which gives a good view and great place to fish and kayak(too cold on this trip). The event was very well organized and very fun to participate in. Staff was all very friendly and helpful! After the event many campers cleared out(end of season and kids in school) so my husband and I basically had the whole campground to ourselves for 2 of the days. It was extremely peaceful there and we look forward to returning.

Great campground!

We tent camped at one of the primitive riverfront sites.  Site 810 in the Narrows.  Our site was a little muddy and a little smaller than other sites but overall we were very happy with the campground and would camp there again!

Beautiful!

Very easy to find... the campsite was very beautiful, right on the river. We had planned to stay until Saturday, but had to leave just after 2 days.. no fault of the campground. First time I had been camping in almost 30 years....also we didn't have any cell service but I was not expecting it. It was great to be screen free for a couple days.

Large Sites and Right on the River

We have camped here 3 times now and even though it’s a large park the sites are huge so you still feel like you can kick back and relax. Quiet neighbors and friendly staff plus everything is mowed and well maintained. Will definitely keep going back. Site 254

Most beautiful campgrounds in the state

I have been going to Mohican Wilderness since the Early 90's. Not a whole lot has changed since then. There is a new office and parking area that is top notch. The campsites are huge and usually shaded. Mohican Wilderness will be a lot more rustic than other campgrounds but this only adds to the relaxation factor. My only knock on this campground is the county Sheriff maintains too strong of an overnight presence I have seen many campers harassed for no real reason.

Love it here!

We go every year and do the 20 mile kayaking trip, such a nice little spot along the river & the best way to kick off summer!

Spacious

This is a family friendly campground with lots to do. They offer on river and off river sites. Open grassy or wooded sites The sites are spacious and with the option to park your trailer where you want (grass sites). They are full of amenities like: horse back riding, shooting sports, canoeing, playground, swimming lake, putt putt and more. They also have little shops that allows visitors to watch loom and black smith demonstrations and the little ones can participate in candle and leather making. If you are able to survive without technology and take a little step back into a simpler life style, this is the campground for you!
