Boondocking in a Parking Lot

Set your expectations to an asphalt parking lot with spaces marked off for campers/rv/tents. If you can pull in facing the lake it's a fabulous view!! We stayed 4 nights Latter July the nights were cool with lows of 49- 55. We will be back for a few days now and then!

All paved, no trees

There might have been some grass and trees elsewhere but the large area we were in is all paved with a little dirt area for picnic table. The lake was nice.

Great campsite!

Recently stayed at the Tolby site at cimarron state park and we had a great time. Mike, our camp host was awesome and had some great information about the area. Clear creek hiking trail is a short drive away and was a beautiful and totally doable 3 mile trail for our 3 young girls. The fishing in…

Rustic Camping along the Rio Grande

Camping in the Gorge! Several sites available all along Route 570. We stayed at a primitive area right at Taos Junction. Clean bathrooms—great camp host. Very hot during the day so make sure you have some shade, no shelters. Beautiful camping right next to the river!

Super spot

Great park sites are level and clean with good shade. The new owners are doing upgrades and are very pleasant to be with. We are looking forward to returning again for a great stay

Great Views and quiet

Great spot that is quiet and has great view of lake and Mountains all around. Cool at night and just right during day. All the RV parks around here that have good reviews are way too close together. I am glad I didn’t go by the reviews as the trailers are almost touching. There is no water or…

Camp host great, specific site not

We arrived at site #14 to find that there was no good place to set up a tent. It was full of rocks. Since you had to reserve your spot online there was no other option to move sites so we could put up a tent. The camp host was understanding and helped us find a place to set up our tent, but we…

Secluded and beautiful

I actually deleted my other review because I thought I had the wrong campsite but I checked and it’s all good. The only amenity we had was a vault toilet with a nearby water pump, a fire pit, picnic table and bear boxes. The vault toilets were probably the nicest I’ve been too. They were clean and…

lovely hidden gem

We stayed here over July 4, 2021.  The campground was mostly full until Sunday (July, 4) and then cleared out. It stayed quiet even when full, though.  I wondered how rough the roads were, but driving from Castillo to the campground and then on to Hwy 64 east of Cimarron on 1950 was all very doable…

Spacious campground

This campground provided lots of space between sites. There are no hookups, but there are pit toilets, running water, picnic tables, and fire pits. You can fit larger RVs in the spaces on the upper loops of the campground. Ours is 28’ and there was probably 10-15 feet of extra space. The camp host…

Full hook up. Great value. Friendly owner and staff! Even got a dusk field trip to see the wildlife. We will stop here again.

loved this place

Campsite 17 was awesome. Huge, isolated, 1 minute from a very clean vault toilet with 2-PLY TP!!! Shaded. Tons of bird activity. Sound of Columbine Creek to fall asleep to.

No bear boxes. Beautiful but heavily used trail out of the back of the campground with multiple stream crossings. Loved…

Very accommodating

We had to have a couple tires replaced on our RV and not only were they able to fix us up with new tires at their Chevron Station, but she was able to find a space in their RV Park for a couple of nights. It wasn’t a great space, but it was fine. There are some nice large trees, grass in some…

Carson National Forest Campground

Small campground with some nice sites along the Columbine Creek prior to its entry into the Red River. Great creek access making for enjoyable moments sitting creekside. Beautiful area with the exception of the moly mine which is in process of restoration. Tall trees, big tables, fresh water,…
