El Caso 2…Don’t mind if I do!

Love this site. We end up here a few times a year. This was a special occasion to celebrate life and enjoy family. It was spring break and we drove through a blizzard to find ourselves under clear skies at Quemado Lake. El Caso camp ground is a few miles into the canyon. The camp sites are spread…

Cramped spots and weird picnic layouts

The lake is beautiful and we had great neighbors, but I would not come here again. Whoever designed the campground had no business doing so. The sites are three RVs crammed into a spot made for two with everyone on top of each other. You also have to walk through each other's picnic spots to get to…

Clean, Quiet, Friendly

The campground owners greeted us on arrivals and guided us to a couple different campsite options. The campground are clean, open, easy to access. The trail is lined with logs so you can find your way to the fire rings and group camping spaces. Gorgeous scenery! Spots close to the road and a way…

Plain but clean

No frills. But a perfectly fine place to spend the night if you are looking for a place from Truth or Consequences to Sedona. Nice owners. Clean bathrooms. Gravel sites. Little cooking area. Night night sky.

Nice and quiet. Plenty of hiking trails.

I arrived on a Sunday afternoon in mid May. There were a few campers, but less than half full. Temp was 69. Running water and pit toilets, very clean.

Ok basic campground

Small campground not where dirt says, but it's marked with a sign and right along the road. Free, clean pit toilet, didn't see water, picnic tables, good for all except the bigger rigs. Shaded, near road but little traffic.

Excellent, easy campsite

We pulled into this site after a long day on motorcycles. Sites were easily accessible and our site had some flat ground and a fire ring. There were quite a few people there and we did not feel at all secluded in nature but, honestly, we didn’t mind the company and everyone was far enough away that…

Winter wonder land

Pulled into Quemado lake area around 730pm. Beautiful, peaceful, you could hear the birds from across the lake. Minutes later, myself and my dog were in the campground. Several spots to choose from. There was snow on the ground since it had snowed recently. We pulled into a pull thru spot. There…

The drive up is worth it.

We truck camped, but saw other people make it in their AWD SUV. Don't even think of bringing an RV of any size unless it's a cab-over that you don't mind scratching up. Once there you find cement tables spaced far enough apart for average camping privacy. Birding is good as there is a stream…

Beautiful and clean sites

Many available campsites, some with tables, and this campground. First come first served. I was there in mid October and there were only a few other campsites taken. Lovely place and pretty quiet at night even though it's close to the hwy.

Very basic free boondocking

This campsite in Pie Town New Mexico is just on the south side of the Hwy near the volunteer fire department. There are plenty of spots. I did notice a bathroom and a place for water but personally didn't check them as I was in need of nothing. I would definitely recommend this location for a…

Peaceful well-kept campground perfect for an escape from the summer heat

The campground was a pleasant surprise, but we were very disappointed with nearby opportunities for active recreation.   The lake is covered in thick green sludge, a seasonal algal bloom that discourages swimming or even kayaking.  The "Luna Lake Trails" are heavily used ATV roads, of limited…

Fun weekend!

Campgrounds were well separated, well kept. Excellent stargazing available, as well as lots of hikes to pick from nearby! We ran into a thru-hiker doing the CDT when we were there last May (if you’re reading this, hi Pacer!)
