Campground on beautiful lake with white sandy beaches

Lone Eagle Campground is a mostly full hookup campground on the north shore of Lake McConaughy, Nebraska’s largest reservoir, located at the edge of Nebraska’s Sandhills. The entire shoreline of the lake consists of fine white sand beaches and the water is clean and clear.

We camped here in our…

Shady Retreat from the Lake

This campsite is beautiful - a nice quiet lake with fishing & kayaking, shady spot with electric hookup, and a pretty nice fire pit. Huge cottonwoods surround us with birds chirping into the evening & the crickets singing at night. No water hookups at the site but there is water available…

Safe stop, friendly people.

So this isn’t much more than a place to sleep, but it works while passing through a lot of nothingness on the interstate. On a working farm, with incredibly friendly owners. Easy to pay with Venmo and others, good service on phones and a safe place with other travelers. Some road noise from the…

Easy Peasy-right off the highway and quiet

We stayed at McGreer Campground for a quick overnight. It was surprisingly quiet even though it was right off the highway. My daughter and I took the dog for a walk at 10 pm when we got there. Pleasant. Nita was super nice and responsive. She even waited on the phone while we picked a site, upon…

All depends on your neighbors

This place was great up until around 10pm when I noticed a strange pick up in cars coming through. Later I realized these are all the people who don’t want to pay and come in after the gate attendant leaves. Unfortunately, the caravan that came to the site next to mine around 11:30pm was awful.…

Quiet and peaceful

This was a great little campsite that’s a little off the beaten path and for us was a nice surprise. The campground was quiet with some wildlife in and around the lake. There’s only a pit toilet and a few outhouses on the tent side. No showers. The only water pump I found was at the fish washing…

Beach camping

This is a very cool spot. Many beach camping areas at Lake McConaughey. Some people have pulled their trailers within feet of the water to make for some great camping.

Clean. Quiet. Quaint.

Well maintained and organized. Campsites appear close but you aren’t aware of your neighbors. Signs clearly give directives and we were led to our campsite. We were informed of the one local restaurant that delivers if you order by 7:30 as well as given other options for food and attractions. We…

$45 for 5 hours of sleep next to the loudest highway

We were absolutely desperate to find a spot late last night so we figured we could trust a KOA to stop at in Nebraska. We’ve stayed at numerous other KOAs where they were conveniently/inconveniently next to the highway. Usually happy that it’s a close drive to get back on the highway but if you’re…

Clean park close to I80 but far enough away.

Very friendly staff and very clean park. It's clear the owners are working hard to make you feel welcome.

Typical of an rv park, the sites are close together. As is typical, your entry to your camper is on the hookup side of your neighbor. Not that appealing. But we were just an overnight stop…

White sandy beaches

It was really early in the season, mid April, and too cold (snow) for most, so the campground was empty. The madern bathhouse wasn't open yet, but pit toilets were available. Showers are by tokens (aka paid ). Everything was clean. Sites could have been more level, but they are doable. …

Beautiful place...can be a little smelly

Great sites right on a small peaceful lake. Just know if the wind changes you might get a little smelly at the campsites. Also look at beach camping up at the big lake above the dam. We didn't realize that was there until we drove in so FYI.
