    Cozy Cabin in the Cornfields

This was a wonderful spot to visit during our trip across the country. The pet friendly cabin was a cozy air conditioned break from the August heat. The location is great and feels tucked away every though it isn't far from the highway. The staff were very helpful. I would definitely recommend!

    Favorite KOA

This campground is set among the corn fields. The staff was super! The pool is cool and tucked away in the back. The store sold single local beers and was open late. They were slinging hot pizza. We stayed in an air conditioned camping cabin. Super close to the pool and bathrooms! 2 of the nicest fenced dog parks of any KOA. I would definitely stay there again if driving through.

    Awesome campground

Arrival was smooth. Parked outside of office and checked in. Was escorted to site and given a run through. Site has a slight dip but was not a big deal.

On site 12, it seems like you would need to share a fire pit and picnic table with site 13. Luckily, site 13 wasn’t ever occupied during our stay since there was a parked utility trailer there.

Pond has three paddle boats and you can fish. Water is murky and seems to only contain bluegill and bullheads. We had a lot of bites but never caught anything. Would be nice if it was stocked with more fish.

    Free firewood nightly was great.

Shop in the office contains supplies, food, and drinks. This was nice.

Camp hosts are very friendly and accommodating.

This is generally going to be a great place for campers looking to stay overnight but not really for extended stays.

    Prairie Oasis Campground & Cabins

Prairie Oasis-A great place to stop over or spend a little time

This campground is a really nice campground right off Interstate 80. The owners live on site and take pride in their business and it shows. The campground is well kept, and the bathrooms/shower house has been remodeled and was immaculate. The sites are gravel, level, and good size. They offer tent camping, Electric and water, or full hook-ups. The sites are pull thru which is always nice. There are fire rings and picnic tables scattered throughout the sites.

We were at a sight closest to the pond, which I loved because I could walk my pups down to the pond and sit at the yard swing and just relax. I thought the interstate would be really noisy but the trees muffle the sound and you really don't hear it. There was even free paddle boats to use for the pond. We also played horseshoes. They also had many other Yard Games to play, a Sand Volleyball Pit, a Sand Box with toys, and a swing set.

The owners were very sweet and Patty brought us fresh baked cookies-something no other campgrounds has ever done and something I will never forget. They also give you your first bundle of firewood free. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome and we did. We will definitely be coming back here.

    WoW Stay!

We needed a quick 'pit stop' stay on our way to Colorado. We chose this one because it was one of the few open KOAs during the COViD scare, and we simply needed a basic cabin to rest for one night. We arrived late, and were very impressed with the very organized system for getting our key/campground map, and found the super clean cabin near the 'private' (access code required) bathrooms. We woke in the morning to a gorgeous sunrise coming up over the newly planted corn field. It was SPECTACULAR! We had a chance to walk around and noticed just how immaculate everything was kept. The pool looked perfectly clear and I just can't say enough. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    KEEP DRIVING!!!

DONT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET SCREAMED AT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT FOR SNEEZING!!! No joke!!! Very sweet owners, when taking your money. But when my youngest son ran a fever of 104 shortly after we got there at 8:00 p.m., and we had to take him to the ER, the owners actually came out of their house at midnight and yelled at us for "slamming our car door". I tried to apologize and explain the situation the next morning and there was no empathy what so ever! In stead, we got blamed for "making a huge mess in their public restroom". WE WERENT EVEN THERE LONG ENOUGH TO USE THEIR RESTROOM, NOR WOULD WE HAVE AS WE HAVE OUR OWN IN OUR MOTORHOME!!! Just weary travelers trying to get some rest. Not loud, obnoxious, didn't even sit at the picnic table. Didn't have time before we were run out. FOR SURE, two elderly people who SHOULD NOT be in business running a customer service establishment!!! If you want my advice, KEEP DRIVING!!!

    Close sites, well maintained

We stayed here in June. The tent sites are very close in proximity- your conversation quickly becomes your neighbors conversation. Tent sites are pull-up which is convenient. There are RVs behind and away from the tent sites (mostly RVs here with about 10 tent sites). We met some great tent neighbors & had nice conversation. One tent neighbor was extremely disruptive (left their dog tied up crying at the site- did not give the dog water the whole time they were there which was 12 hours- It was sad- they were also all around loud and inconsiderate). Other than those neighbors all was good. Laundry on site so bring quarters. Showers are clean enough. Bathrooms are a close walk to tent sites. Not much at the camp store (they were out of a lot of stuff their site says they have & we're not making food either), but they did get an ice delivery when we were there which was helpful. We planned to cook at our site anyway- but it was inconvenient for some families relying on their pizza for dinner. Great sunset views over the cornfield from the tent sites !!!

Summer temperatures typically reach highs in the mid-90s during July and August, while winter nights drop below freezing from November through February. Area campgrounds operate primarily during warm weather months, with most cabin facilities closing by late October.

What to do

Water recreation: paddle boating. Prairie Oasis Campground & Cabins maintains a small pond where visitors can use complimentary paddle boats. "Pond has three paddle boats and you can fish. Water is murky and seems to only contain bluegill and bullheads," notes Bryan R., though fishing success varies.

Museum exploration: historical exhibits. Pioneer Village Campground provides access to an extensive collection of Americana artifacts. "Don't miss the Harold Warp Pioneer Village Museum while you're there," recommends Roger J. The museum admission comes with camping fees but visitors should note that some exhibits need restoration.

Playground activities: structured play areas. Young visitors can enjoy multiple outdoor play zones at several cabin locations. At Grand Island KOA, families appreciate the "large playground for the kids," as mentioned by Angie S., though seasonal closures may affect availability during off-peak periods.

What campers like

Seasonal amenities: swimming pools. During summer months, cabin guests appreciate cooling off in on-site pools. "Pool was chilly but nice after a long day of driving," reports Amy J. about Grand Island KOA's facilities, providing relief from Nebraska's summer heat.

Campground layout: shade coverage. Mature trees throughout Deshler City Park Campground create comfortable cabin environments even during hot weather. "Nice park setting in town" with "wonderful green space with mature trees, bushes and flowers," notes N I., creating natural cooling for cabin areas.

Wildlife observation: natural surroundings. Several cabin properties feature natural habitats where guests can observe local wildlife. "I was surprised how quite the sites were with it being so close to I80. There is lots to keep kids busy... our 3 year old spent most of the evening catching toads," shares Jared C. about his Grand Island KOA experience.

What you should know

Reservation timing: seasonal availability. Most cabin rentals close during winter months, requiring advance planning. Prairie Oasis RV Park operates with limited availability during colder months, with James R. noting it makes "a great stopover off interstate" during peak season.

Accommodation types: camping restrictions. Not all properties allow all camping styles. Prairie Oasis RV Park has discontinued tent camping options, with Sue reporting "There is not an option for tent camping, van camping, or anything but RVs. The owner was kind, but explained that he has not allowed tent camping for two years."

Highway proximity: noise considerations. Cabin locations near I-80 experience varying levels of traffic noise. At Prairie Oasis Campground & Cabins, Shannon G. mentions "I thought the interstate would be really noisy but the trees muffle the sound and you really don't hear it," though sensitivity to road noise varies by individual.

Tips for camping with families

Frog hunting: natural entertainment. The pond at Prairie Oasis Campground & Cabins becomes a nature exploration zone for children. "Had a great time frog hunting and boy were they big," shares Shannon G., providing free entertainment for kids.

Gaming equipment: on-site activities. Several cabin properties provide recreational equipment for guest use. Prairie Oasis Campground offers "many other Yard Games to play, a Sand Volleyball Pit, a Sand Box with toys, and a swing set," according to Shannon G., eliminating the need to pack extra entertainment.

Room planning: cabin capacity. Cabin sizes vary significantly between properties, requiring careful reservation planning. Cabins at Grand Island KOA can accommodate families but Mary T. notes sites are sometimes "on top of your neighbors. Thought we might not be able to open our awning, only about 3 to 4 feet between sites."

Tips from RVers

Bathroom access: facility conditions. Cabin guests often share bathhouse facilities with RV campers, with varying cleanliness. A recent visitor to Grand Island KOA noted "I tried 2 different restrooms and showers. Hair stuck to wall in shower, toilets that need to be cleaned and replaced," indicating inspection before booking is advisable.

Pet accommodations: dog-friendly options. RVers with pets find varying accommodation policies at cabin properties. Dawn I. highlights that Grand Island KOA features "2 of the nicest fenced dog parks of any KOA," making it suitable for travelers with canine companions.

Site spacing: privacy considerations. RVers note significant differences in site spacing between cabin properties. At Deshler City Park Campground, rjvnme appreciated the "nice spot to camp without spending a fortune" with adequate space between units compared to more crowded commercial properties.
