    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

The South Sioux City area provides multiple campground options along the Missouri River and surrounding lakes. Scenic Park Campground in South Sioux City offers river views with full hookup RV sites, tent areas, and cabin accommodations. Several miles north, Stone State Park Campground features electric sites and primitive tent camping areas nestled in wooded terrain. KOA Campground in North Sioux City extends camping options across the state line with tent sites, RV hookups, and cabin rentals. Most campgrounds in the tri-state region accommodate various camping styles from primitive tent camping to full-service RV sites with 50-amp electric connections.

Campground availability varies seasonally, with many facilities operating from April through October. Stone State Park closes for winter camping after December 31, while Scenic Park remains open year-round. Several campgrounds in the area require reservations, particularly for weekend stays during summer months. Water and electric hookups are standard at most developed sites, though primitive camping options exist at parks like Stone State Park. Cell service is generally reliable at campgrounds near city limits but may weaken in more remote areas. Bathroom and shower facilities typically remain open during the main camping season. A camper noted, "The campsite had a river view, picnic table, and fire ring. The campground is part of a large park and was full hookups with cable and wifi included."

Riverside camping locations receive positive feedback for their scenic views and recreational access. Many campgrounds in the area feature mature shade trees, particularly appreciated during hot summer months. Scenic Park offers direct access to riverside trails, tennis courts, and other recreational amenities. Campers frequently mention the proximity to shopping and services as a benefit when staying near South Sioux City. Several visitors highlighted clean restroom facilities and friendly camp hosts as standout features. According to one review, "It is a large campground with several different restrooms with showers. With it being on the edge of South Sioux City and across the river from Sioux City, there are lots of shopping options close by." The region's campgrounds provide a mix of natural settings while maintaining accessibility to urban amenities, making them suitable for both overnight travelers and extended stays.

      Lions Park

Lions Park Campground in Vermillion SD

A very nice and well kept campground a mile within the city limits. Five sites, new concrete, electricity and water for $10 a night, compared to the $34 ($24 non-Nebraska resident and $10 daily at a dump last night).

Vermillion is a very nice town to explore, as well. Home to Univ of SD, smack in the middle of a town of 6,000, with Main St of three blocks of restaurants and businesses, and nothing boarded up!

      July 26

The tree was blocking the road to the pin so I set up next to the state forest sign. Very peaceful and serene. People who live here are very friendly and helpful. Love this spot though. Still perfect for a quiet night.

      Union Grove State Park Campground

      Not worth the money

We just wanted a place to stop and sleep with electricity so we could use the AC. Arrived @6:30pm and left by 6:00 am. Per the sign in board we had to pay $15 day use fee for 2 days based on the hours shown. Camping was $30 plus a $10 fee to pay for the site. It was however, less than the cost of a hotel, but still not worth it for what we were doing. We didn’t even take the camper off the hitch. A plus was the bathroom! Shower and toilet in one room. Was one of the nicest bedrooms we’ve ever used camping. Water temperature was great and the the room was clean. Complete with a fan to help with drying of the floor.

      Wide Opened Spaces

Loved this location! I gave it a shot after reading the reviews. I went during the summer in July and would love to have seen it during the winter. I would suggest for those with a trailer like mine wait till spring or fall to see if the grass have come down to have a better clearance and view of the ground to know how to get around.

      Mulberry Bend Wildlife Management Area

      Ok overnight

Easy to get to and set up and a pretty view of the river if you are to the right of the toilet. Two other motor homes look like full timers here, toilet is unusably dirty, boat ramp is pretty active. Someone pulled out at midnight last night others were ready to launch before 7 this morning. I Not a vacation destination but ok for an over night. YouTube @TKCompass

      Union Grove State Park Campground

      Very clean and quiet camping

The campsites are in a bunch of pine trees and so that cuts down a lot on the weather if there's an issue it's got nice breezes but it gets cold cold at night like down in the 50s. I'm camping in a tent with my cat and dog and my cat likes to roam free a little bit and there's only I think about 20 campsites here and they're both from tent sides to a full-on RVs. There's a nice shower and bathroom and close proximity there's four and inside each one is a modern toilet sink and shower and lockable. The only complaint that I have is that a lot of the campsite spots are at an angle not only to get down to it from the road but an angle for the tent and the pine needles cover the ground which make great starting for fires they burn so fast and so quick that you feel like you're in a tinder box a little bit which is kind of spooky if there's a spark that goes flying it could actually set the whole campfire on a blaze. There is a nice camping pit this is a steak Campground and so able to get campsites for $16 a night. The people that are on staff here are so sweet give you lots of good advice for what's close by there is it's right between Beresford and vermilion so that's like 10 miles each way but there's no ice here so you would have to drive to one of those facilities to get the ice and by the time you got back would probably be melted to be honest with you so that's the only drawback so I would suggest dry ice for sure. There's a children's playground here for kids it would be something I guess you know very fun to go and be explorers in the woods I don't think there's much chance of them getting too lost really. But all in all this is a really good place to stay I've been here six nights now and I've only got a couple more to go and then I'll be moving on.

      loess hills state forest

      Lovely, isolated little spot

It took a lot of driving to get back in here, but the payoff was a lovely little isolated, three or 4 acres of grass and hardwood trees by a sweet little cemetery of the hill.
