The city-managed campground at Streeter Park operates on a gravel lot next to Aurora's aquatic center, where RVs park in numbered spaces close enough that neighbors share electrical pedestals. Eighteen sites accommodate rigs up to 35 feet, each with 30-amp electric, water, and a picnic table on level gravel pads. The layout resembles a parking lot more than a traditional campground, with sites arranged in rows rather than loops.
Road noise from the adjacent street carries through the campground during daytime hours, while freight trains pass nearby with horn blasts that echo across the park. Abby M. notes "a train does come through so you will hear it honk," though most campers report the sounds diminish after dark. Mature trees provide afternoon shade over most sites, and the maintained grass areas stay trimmed throughout the season.
The park's amenities extend beyond basic hookups to include a dump station, trash dumpsters, and city-provided WiFi that works well for streaming and remote work when occupancy stays low. Restroom facilities are located several hundred yards away at the waterpark and baseball complex, with some reviewers describing them as functional but not pristine. The adjacent aquatic center operates seasonally, bringing daytime foot traffic and families to the surrounding park areas.
Aurora allows up to four consecutive nights of free camping on a donation basis, with a collection box near the entrance. Fred S. describes each site as having "a picnic table, electricity & water" in what functions as "a really good place for an overnight stop." Cell service reaches 2-3 bars for most carriers, and a convenience store sits directly across the street for supplies.
Campers wanting more separation between sites can explore Pioneer Trails Recreation Area northeast of town.
