    Cedar View Campground — Lake McConaughy

    Clean simple state park camping

    Nice clean state park campground on Lake McConaughy. Many sites, all level and not too close to each other. Decent bathroom and shower building. We pull a small Hiker Trailer square-drop trailer and had no issues.

    The campground hosts-- one near us and another close to the shower area-- were very hospitable and helpful. Overall, not bad and fairly close to North Platte (to the East) the Chimney Rock area (to the West) or obviously Lake McConaughy.

    When we arrived, we discovered that sites must be reserved online in advance. We arrived right at 5 PM when the entry office closes, but a very friendly office helper stayed late to help us obtain a Nebraska park permit and then reserve the site itself.

    Thedford City Park

    Simple Easy Clean Quick Stay

    I love these small town free RV campgrounds. This one has a donation box. Our 41 foot 5W for perfect could take 45 foot. Only one water spigot is not positioned well but you can fill fresh tank and be fine...no dump station...16 miles away at Nebraska Natl Forest.. T Mobile worked good....good grocery store, Pizza Shop, and gas station....If you have time go River floating. Four 30 amp spots and plenty of parking and a nice well kept public park. Several trains go by but not horrible noise.

    Nebraska Tailwaters

    Unique and interesting

    I wanted to stay somewhere in Nebraska so I chose this location. Interesting setup with all sites in a row. Very nice setup with long sites. Dump station right outside the campground and nice view of the river. Sweet camp host, shower and power at each site.

    Elkhorn Shores

    Great place for a family-just needs a little upkeeping

    Overall we enjoyed our stay, the amenities that came with the glamping tent are great. We enjoyed that it came with a mini fridge and paper products that were needed. Would have enjoyed a list of all the items and amenities that the glamping tent came with. We brought a lot of extra stuff that wasn’t needed because we were unsure of what the glamping tent supplied. It’s probably time for new linens on the bed as the sheets and pillowcases have many stains on them. The wood that is provided isn’t enough for the whole weekend, so do recommend bringing a bundle of your own. The glamping tent requires you to use porta potties which is fine, but their bathrooms weren’t clean. They would probably benefit from daily cleaning. As far as sweeping out cobwebs, dead bugs, and trash. Definitely need an upgrade the shower house, I personally would never be able to shower in a facility that isn’t clean. Overall the bathroom facilities need some attention, but the tent was enjoyable.

    Ogallala / Tri Trails KOA Journey 120 Road East 80 Ogallala , NE 69153

    Great spot for a overnight pass through

    There’s nothing super special about the Ogallala/Tri Trails KOA.

    Actually, now that I think about it, that’s exactly what makes it special.

    This no-frills KOA is just minutes off I-80 in Ogallala, Nebraska, making it the perfect stop after a long day on the road. Don’t let my photo fool you—we stayed in Site 46, which is essentially a large parking-style site. For us, that was perfect. It offered full hookups, 50-amp service, and plenty of room for our big rig.

    If you're looking for something a little more upgraded, they offer sites with additional amenities and more trees. We simply didn't need anything fancy for a quick overnight stop, hot shower, and good night's sleep. The kids enjoyed the playground, and the camp store was a pleasant surprise. The staff was incredibly friendly and stocked plenty of Nebraska favorites, including craft sodas, local honey, pizza dough, popcorn, and coffee. Sometimes the best campgrounds aren't the ones packed with amenities—they're the ones that are clean, convenient, reasonably priced, and run by great people. Ogallala/Tri Trails KOA checks all those boxes.

    If you're passing through western Nebraska, it's definitely worth a stop.

    Harbine Park Campground

    Great place to stop for the night

    I was passing through Nebraska when I discovered this little gem on Dyrt. It was perfect. Flush toilets, quiet, inexpensive ($15). I dropped my payment off in a drop box at city hall (look for the fire station). There was no registration paper that I could find so I just left a note with my cash and dropped it through the slot. Fresh potable water on site. Trash cans, picnic tables and fire rings with what appears to be free firewood.
