Rock Island is an amazing gem in our state. It takes some extra work and planning to get to, but the reward is worth it.
We stayed at backpacking site B, which is a little over a mile from the ferry dock. This is where the flush toilets and water are, so prepare for your journey in
We passed the…

Great state park that we’ll definitely be coming back to!
We stayed at site 7 and parked in lot 1. It was about a 1.5-2 mile hike. The hike was relatively flat with some rocks. It was a very nice walk!
Water is available at the entrance building 24/7. We had a pit toilet at the site. No…

Site 870 is one of the waterfront campsites. There is a clearing for a great view of the bay. This does come with some caveats, as this site is the closest to the public beach. All of the beach chatter echoes through the site, and once in a while people wandering from the beach would walk…
Beautiful sunsets and amazing trails here. 3 beaches within biking distance! Love it!
Closest thing to staying in a state park you’ll find. Heavily wooded, shady and quiet. Many tent/ rustic sites. Up a steep hill, so some sites have partial views. Not the best for big rigs. Not specifically family oriented, but there is a nice playground. Clean bathrooms& showers. Firewood…
Nice campground with big trees, pull through sites, close to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore and friendly staff. If you like to hike or mountain bike or want to spend time at the beach (summer only!), this is a great area.
Quite, clean, all around nice campground. Close to stores and restaurants.
Awesome county park with great staff, facilities and the sites are private and wooded. Nice beach on Timms Lake.
Lots of trees and foliage so sites are at least semi-private - nearby lake for fishing and swimming and hiking trails too! Clean and modern shower facility which is greatly appreciated… a campground we keep coming back to.
Well maintained campground on the shore of lake Michigan. Full hookups and Wi-Fi, however the internet connection can be intermittent. A little close to US 2 so there is some road noise. If you're lucky the sound of waves will drown it out.
Pike Lake State Forest Campground is closed and has been for 10+ years. The entrance to the campsites is blocked off with large boulders. The boat launch is still accessible and is maintained by the DNR. A Recreation Passport is required to use the boat launch.
Had spot #18 , kinda remote. Large RV’s , very quiet , away from the casino. Inexpensive, clean and very neat. Will definitely stay here again.
This place looks like a scene from a movie; like Vacation (1983) pool full of swans scene instead of RV (2006) picturesque scenes! Packed full, one spot (literally up to the highway — noise fetish?) and it was the roomiest; just looks sad. Lots of kids. We’ve raised ours, don’t mind kids, but when…
Nice cement pads, made setting up a breeze since we were level from unhooking. Clean and quiet except some road noise. Hookups are great from electric to water and cable. Right on lake Michigan with Sandy beaches to walk or swim.
Absolutely beautiful and huge park on the tip of the Door Peninsula. Spacious sites that are mere steps to the water. It honestly could be your entire vacation with fantastic hikes, biking trails, swimming beach, well stocked store, kayak and canoe rentals, golf, a theater and more. There is no…
