    Great RV Park, Centrally Located

Our recent stay at Egg Harbor Campground and RV Resort was excellent! The park is well-maintained and kept up, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and the sites are excellent by many standards. The park is very quiet, which is a welcome treat.

They are uniquely situated just outside of Egg Harbor, with plenty of the local attractions within minutes of the park. Trolley Tours, Local Farmer's Markets, Local Wineries, and many other attractions are close by. They are centrally located on the peninsula which makes it perfect to see the rest of the county within a 45-minute drive.

I give Egg Harbor Campground and RV Resort a ***** FIVE STAR RATING ***** a must for RVers!

    Quiet, clean

Nice little county campground on lake Michigan. Sandy Beach. Clean bathrooms and showers, and a small laundry facility. Electric and water on each site. Dump station is available for registered campers. Sites are large, not crowded. Mixture of short term campers and long term locals. On site host, not a party spot.

    Dovetail Acres Campground

    Relatively New RV Campground

Convenient to Sister Bay in Door County, Wisconsin. Off of WI Hwy 57. Large open field. 27 pull-through RV sites are equipped to handle the biggest RV’s by providing 34′ x 75′ sites. 33 back-in RV sites. 10 walk in tent sites. Pets welcome - $5/day pet fee. New restrooms & showers. No cell service, but very good free WiFi service. Clean campsites, well maintained. No privacy between sites. Gravel driveways. Picnic table. Fire ring. Convenience store & gas station on site - Dovetail Trading Company & Citgo gas station. Registration in store. Accepts reservations. Campground was still open on Oct 23, 2021, even though it's season ended on Oct 18. This is a good campground for RVs. I camped here when I couldn't find another campground that had available sites. I thought it was overpriced for camping in my camper van with no hookups needed, but it was okay in a pinch.

    Washington Island Campground

Poised for greatness but falls short

Reservation process was smooth, as was check in. Site had both 30 and 50 amp hookups. Oddly, no standard 110v 15amp plug though. There is water at each site, but the lowest water pressure I have ever seen. Grounds well maintained, though the main building looks half finished and remained that way for many years. The bathrooms unfortunately do not match the upscale vibe of the campground. They were dirty, tons of sand tracked in, poorly maintained. The men’s urinal was a long term plywood out of order sign. Black mold on ceiling tiles in many places. Showers require a quarter to start them ??This campground looks like it started out with so much promise and now the owners are just coasting without putting much effort into the place. We have been here days and have yet to catch a time the office and store was open. Swimming hole looks nice for kids but due to poor planning of its location, it’s primary function is to provide a source of non stop sand in her bathrooms

    Door County KOA

    Good, but needs some work

This is a great campground for families with RVs. We stayed in summer of ‘20 and loved it, came back in ‘21 and enjoyed it. Biggest attraction of 3 pools and a water slide were down to 1 pool and the splash pad, which meant crowded pool. Like many things during COVID, delays or back ordered repair supplies are impacting the campground. That said, this is still a great KOA with some full hookups and some w/e. Showers and laundry $$ facilities available. The full hook up pull through are awesome sites- easy in and out, but there are only 6 so book early. We stayed in site 198 last year, and it was a nice wooded site but right on top of neighbors. This year we had 49, which had more open space and some shade for one big tree. This is a very dog friendly campground with a big fenced in dog run and lots of rooms for walks. There’s a bar and restaurant, but with so many great places to go in Door Co I’d skip eating there and enjoy the area. They have 2 tent sites, but these are in an open field with no privacy. I’d pass on sites 95-98 and 133-136 as they back up to the pavilion and offer no privacy. If you’re looking for wooded sites with privacy stick to the sites north of the pools. If you’re looking for open sites for a group of campers, the south part of the campground should suit you.

    Peshtigo River Campground

A Peaceful Campground on the Peshtigo River

The Peshtigo River Campground as it’s name implies, sits on a crook of the Peshtigo River. This makes it a perfect ending spot for the tubing rentals that they offer. The Campground itself is very clean. It has some of the cleanest bathrooms we’ve ever found. It has a small but very open playground. It even has a game room with a SouthPark Pinball that is fully working. There are several full hook up sites that are nicely spaced. All in all, it is a peaceful, clean, well run campground that I highly recommend.

The rent tubes for $14/person. Cooler floats are $8. This includes the bus service to the drop off anytime between 10 and 3pm. I would dedicate 3-4 hours to the tube trip.

    Labor Day Weekend Site 339

Our first trip with our new to us travel trailer. We were assigned site 339 and in our opinion lucked out with the best site possible in our category. We were nicely surrounded by woods with minimal visibility of our neighbors. We walked the park and for full hook up sites the 300s are nice if you're looking for a more secluded/wooded spot, the pull throughs have minimal division from your neighbors. My only complaint is that with dogs it would have been nice to have some grass the entire site was gravel to the tree line. We had to take our dogs to the field for potty as they refused to poop at our site. Firewood is $10/wagon and you must purchase at the park. Multiple nice play areas, my 4 year old had a blast. They had a live band all day Saturday until 9:15 and it made it difficult to get our 4 year old to nap/go to bed even with 2 sound soother on high and a fan running but I will say the band looked fun! Highly recommend the campground as wholw, we will be back!

Island Resort and Casino RV Park

Basic RV park with free shuttle to the casino

We were in Site# 14. We had electric/water with a paved pull-through. We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep.
The site was easy to level but the wheels of our motor home were off of the ground.

Check-in is at the hotel. The RV park is not visible from the hotel (it’s back in the woods). There is a phone at the shower house that can be used to request a free shuttle to the casino.

Our site was not shaded with limited trees. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a picnic table and fire ring.

There was not any WiFi (we used our Starlink). They do not offer Cable TV.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen or community fire pit.

They do not provide garbage service at your site so you must walk to garbage dumpster.

They do have an indoor Swimming pool at the hotel with a sauna and steam shower.

There is not a Playground. There are not any additional play areas like Bocce ball, shuffleboard, basketball sport court, horseshoe, or volleyball courts.

They have a general store in the parking lot of the casino where you can also get gas.

There are restaurants on site in the hotel as well as a spa. The closest big town with stores is Escanaba (about 20 minutes away).

This is solely an RV park. They do not have any cabins to rent or any tent areas.

They have one shower house. The shower house has individual showers (toilets & sinks are on opposite side of shower house).

The laundry facility is located at the BP gas station (located in the parking lot of the casino/hotel). It is a cash only facility, but they have a change machine. It is approximately $2 to wash and $2 to dry a load.

They do not have a fenced in dog park. There are areas to walk dogs.

Bugs did not seem to be an issue.

Some fun things to do outside of the campground are to visit the Sandy Point Lighthouse or Ludington Park in Escanaba.

The casino is smoke-free. It states that the tables are open from 10am to 2am. Not all tables are available though (for instance, roulette wasn’t always available and if they did open up the one roulette table, it wasn’t until 6 or 7pm). The slot machine options are abundant.

    Wagon Trail Campground

    Greaet family campground

General: Pride of ownership is evident throughout the campground and there are many different types of accommodations: tent, electric and water, (including some classified as prime), full hook-up, cabins, and yurts. There are also seasonal sites and travel trailer rentals. This campground was as busy as I would expect for Door County in the summer. We checked in at the well-staffed office (open until 9 pm) at which time our site was assigned.

Site Quality/Facilities: Since there are so many different kinds of sites, they vary greatly. Our non-hookup site (#104) had an L-shaped driveway which was just a bit awkward to back our campervan into but not impossible. This site would not have been suitable for a large RV. Some of the tent sites in this loop (#111-113) were called “hideaway” tent sites as they had very long driveways and more privacy. Many of the sites are wooded and there is varying separation between sites but more than adequate. The premium sites have the most privacy and many of these have no one behind them.

Bathhouse: There are two bathhouses, and each is closed for a two-hour period each day. They were immaculate (possibly the cleanest campground bathrooms I have ever seen!). The shower, while a bit on the small side, had nice hot water and plenty of hooks to hang clothes and toiletries. They were clean.

Activities/Amenities: The campground itself has much to offer: playground, recreation area with volleyball net, laundry, dishwashing station, fish cleaning station, recreation room with pool table and arcade games, lounge with fireplace, couches, and books, a camp store, and doggie stations. A couple of hiking trails lead from the campground, including one to Grandma’s Swedish Bakery (highly recommend at least one visit). Nearby kayak and SUP rentals. There is much to do in Door County for active and less active pursuits; this campground is located on the quiet side of the peninsula, but it does not take long to drive to other activities.

This is not our typical type of campground. We used to live within two hours of the northern part of the Door Peninsula, so we only took day trips here; camping here is new to us but we are enjoying exploring many different options.

    Wagon Trail Campground

Great campground for Door co adventures

This campground was really well maintained. Groomed campsites, wooded and shaded spots, level and easy pads for rvs. The bathrooms are hands down the best I’ve ever experienced in a campground! Great showers, hot water, and clean facilities. The staff was super friendly and helpful and made sure all our guests had what they needed. There a fish cleaning station, and very clean dump site. A calm and relaxing campground for RVs and a few tent spots. Even though there are seasonal sites, this wasn’t a place with wild crazy parties and golf carts zooming. It was a great place to look at the stars and take a short walk to a wonderful sandy beach. Close enough to all the fun towns and restaurants, and catch a boat out to Washington Island. Can’t wait to visit again!

Tennison Bay Campground — Peninsula State Park

Beautiful views with variety of activities

Beautiful state park with plenty of activities for all ages. We booked a same-day campsite over the weekend in August. That in itself in Wisconsin almost deserves five stars. Absolutely stunning views with miles and miles of hiking and biking trails, surrounded by beautiful lake Michigan coast line. Activities such as golf, plays and musicals at a rustic amphitheater, lighthouse lookout, gorgeous skywalk and a nice beach with incredibly large portions of ice cream for the kiddos.

2 star loss goes against the overhead trees not being groomed for a class A, plenty of tree knocks and scratches getting in and out of the camping area and even the main road. All the amenities restricted RV parking so as we were leaving the grounds we could not enjoy new discoveries found.

I would give Peninsula state park a 4 because of the beauty and awesome amenities; maybe even a 5 if We were tent camping; however there was overwhelming evidence that our Class A was an after thought so a solid 3 is my final review.

    Very nice campground

Very nice level gravel sites, not too crowded. Site 12 was wooded.Clean campground. The sites were full hookup. Beautiful views of lake Michigan. There is a restaurant there, but unfortunately it wasn't open. We were looking forward to trying it out. The campground also has spots to dock your boat. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back again!

    Gladstone Bay Campground

    Quiet small town campground

We had an electric only site here for a night. The sites in this section of the campground are very spread out and many have a view of the lake. The full hookup sites are a little more packed together. Nice beach and trail along the water but a lot of it was flooded when we were here. Bathrooms and showers are modern and clean. Not much to do in town but maybe worth a couple days stay if you want quiet and access to the lake.

    HTR Door County

Heavily wooded and quiet campground with a variety of sites.

We stayed in a pull through full hookup 30amp site with our Class C in the fall, and the leaves were beautiful. This campground is very convenient to many of the places in Door County for visitors so we loved the convenience. It is not close to a lake but is near to Green Bay. The campground backs up to a golf course though.  Very well kept up and clean, with friendly staff. We will definitely go back again!

Close to town with some background noise

The campground is close to town and larger than expected. It’s divided into two sections. The first one is set up for RVs. The one further back is rustic. Separating them is a wonderful playground and a large picnic shelter.

The rustic area was spread out. Large trees provide shade but there isn’t much privacy between sites. There were only a few campers in this section so distance gave separation.

Continue past the campsites and you find a simple picnic area at the boat launch. We ate lunch over here. By the entrance (and up a hill) is a frisbee golf course.

We were by ourselves on the first loop site #6. Short walk to sandy beach. (Less than 25-30Yds). Deer in camp when we arrived. $21/night. 1/2 price for those with senior National park pass. Nice fire ring with grill and picnic table. About 1/3 of the 38 sites are first come, rest reservable. Only 2 other campers in area end of September. Could fish, swim or do boating from the site. Need gen if you want electric. No dump station but private campgrounds close and perhaps would let you dump for a fee. Several trails. Lighthouse at end of peninsula about 11 mi away. Fairly level sites. Tent pads with pine needles. Big rigs likely would fit but very narrow and tight squeeze. Length and slides not an issue as sites are large.

    Gladstone Bay Campground

    Nice Campground on the Water

Ranger Review: Roanline Clothes at Gladstone Bay Campground, MI

    Campground Review

We really came to like the Gladstone Bay Campground during the time we were there. The first impression is that it is a mix of seasonal campers mixed with transients and there is a crazy mix of campsites scattered in all different directions. This county-operated park sits on a pretty part of Bay de Noc in Gladstone Bay just north of the larger town of Escanaba in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. The best feature for us was the nice view of the water and direct access but there are lots of other things we liked about this campground too. For example, there is a nice walking path that wanders along the water down to the marina and county park (that has free outdoor concerts during the summer).  The path goes through the campground but is located along the water so you don’t feel like everybody is walking through the campground. We used the path every day to walk our dog who loved the water access to cool off and swim. Another feature we liked was the 1,500-foot sandy beach. Here is a great place to set up a chair and read with a pleasant view, take a swim, or launch a kayak. This park has some of the cleanest bathrooms and showers (in separate rooms) that we have seen all summer long. They are modern, clean and well-stocked so a big “thanks” goes out to the people who maintain them and do such a great job.

The main roads are paved while the ones leading to the waterfront sites are gravel. Some campsites are gravel while others are grass. Patios are grassy and really nice because the grass was thick and not sandy so you didn’t feel like your camper was always dirty. There was a heavy downpour during our stay and some big puddles of water in low spots. All sites have a picnic table (which was in good condition) and a fire pit which was clean when we got there.

Our site (#20) was pretty close to our neighbors but some are really well spaced – especially the water/electric only or no hook-up sites. As mentioned earlier, we really like the campground and for $30 for a 50 amp full hook-up site (with WiFi) that is a good price. We did not really spend any time in Gladstone (except to go to the grocery which is a couple of miles away) but we did go to Escanaba a couple of days. In Escanaba we visited the lighthouse and historical museum which was interesting ($3 entrance fee) and ate at the highly-touted Swedish Pantry where we had the most delicious Swedish pancakes with lingonberries. We also stopped at Dobber’s Pasties to get some frozen pasties for the road. There is an ice cream truck that comes through the park for those of you with a sweet tooth.

One thing we noticed is that some campsites have lots of people staying on them.  On Labor Day weekend two campers came in with lots of people who stayed up until well past 2 a.m. having a fire and good time. We were two sites down in our RV with pretty good noise insolation and still heard them. It’s great that people want to enjoy the holiday weekend but some rude campers ruin it for others.

    Product Review

As a Ranger for The Dyrt, I occasionally get products to test and evaluate. At Gladstone Bay Campground I tested clothes from Roanline. This company’s philosophy is to provide quality outdoor clothes and gear from up and coming companies with a commitment to giving back to the environment. Super cool!

I had a hard time picking out what to order because so many of their items appealed to me. Finally, I settled on two shirts featured by the company United by Blue (who pledges to remove one pound of trash from waterways for every item sold.  Hooray for them). The first one is the Knowle Plaid long-sleeved shirt.  This item was a good choice since the morning temperatures were dipping into the high 30’s.  The first thing I noticed was how soft this shirt was. It has a nice outdoorsy look with the plaid pattern but has a feminine fit. The shirt was not too bulky so you could wear it under a sweater on days that you need to layer. After a couple of washings it stayed true to size, color and that great soft feel.

The other item I received was Pine Bear Tee. I was looking for a tee that was more stylish than just a typical unisex shirt and this one delivered. This shirt has a nice fit with a v-neck and is super soft.  It is lightweight enough to be worn hiking on warm days. The stitching and material in this shirt makes it high quality and it has definitely stood up to the wear and tear I put my clothes through.

Will definitely be ordering from this company again. Their quality products are at a good price point (and they offer many sale items and discounts) and the company has a great mission and philosophy.

    Peshtigo Badger Park Campground

Best Camping Within the TriCity Area

If you want to camp without being far from amenities, you can't do much better than Badger Park. I loved coming here as a kid just for the playground which is still the best in the area. The park has half a dozen small trails as well as streams leading to the beach along the Peshtigo River. The nightly rates are reasonable and the sites are great for both tent and RV camping. As is usual in the north, the tall trees in the park's forested portion are especially great in Autumn. You'll be well taken care of at this campground if you're looking for a place easy for the whole family, young and old, to enjoy.

    O. B. Fuller Campground

Beautiful place to stay on Lake Michigan

We camped with a RV; I felt like I was at the Hilton having water and electricity hook up. The view out our back window was spectacular!!

    Gladstone Bay Campground

Last resort for tent camping. Great showers though

On a last minute camping trip to Michigan, we were looking for places that didn't require reservations, so I felt very lucky and happy to find tent sites available at this campground on a Sunday afternoon. Nearly every spot for RV camping was occupied. Of the eight or so tent sites available, only two were occupied.

We were given our choice of tent site and settled on site 5 because it was the furthest from all other sites. The grass was solid enough to drive our car across, but there were several questionable spots of swamp we had to be careful to avoid. Site 5 sits next to the playground, which looks like it hasn't been maintained in years. The foliage around the lake was too tall for us to be able to see the lake from our tent and too thick, plus the swampiness of the land, to be able to walk through to access the lake.

A nearby boardwalk was damaged and blocked off to foot traffic. The paved drive within the camp site was where everyone seemed to be spending their time, riding bicycles or roller bladeing in circles.

Four or five showers are available on site, with separate flush toilets for men and women. Firewood was available for purchase, as well as ice and vending machines.

The showers were great to have. However, with no easy access to the lake, not much of a view, being very crowded and catered towards RVers, I would only stay here again if I had no other options, as a tent camper.

    Door County KOA

Great for an RV at the edge of Door County

This campground recently became a KOA. Our site was wooded and spacious, but difficult to maneuver into. We had a W/E site that had a nice fire pit and well placed hook ups. The best part about this campground is the pool area. There are 3 pools- 2 large full sized pools and one kiddie pool and splash pad. Can’t forget about the big water slide too! We enjoyed hours in the pool followed by dinner at the patio seating poolside. A bar/pub restaurant and a well stocked camp store. There are a lot of seasonal sites here, and I didn’t see the tent sites. If you want Door County nature, head to the state parks. If you want a home base with a pool and really nice bathrooms, this place is great. Lots of bike riding, beaches, towns, etc. within a 30 min drive.

    Fayette State Park Campground

    Beautiful State Park

Isolated, quiet park on Lake Michigan. Nicely spaced and shaded sites. Some level, many not so great. Big fire rings. Picnic tables. Electric hookups only. Bath and shower facilities very new and nice. Spotty phone service. Historic ghost town within walking distance of the campground. Many buildings open during the day with displays of what life was like when the town was occupied. Great history lesson and very interesting. Although town buildings were locked at night, you could still walk the streets. Spooky but fun! Sunsets on the lake are spectacular. Many hiking trails around the park. Not strenuous and fairly short. However, trails could use better markings.

    Kleinke Park Campground

    Beautiful!

Great view of Lake Michigan! Need to pay quarters for showers. Pretty clean bathrooms. Little privacy in sites but the view makes it worth it. Trees by the beach are great for a hammock. There is also a small playground and picnic area. Most of the sites right on the lake are reserved all season by RV trailers when I was there. I believe I was the only tent camper at the time but I would visit again.
