Lake Michigan shoreline camping draws visitors to Fox County Park Campground, where sites sit directly on sandy beach frontage along the Cedar River area. This county-managed facility accommodates RVs with electric hookups and welcomes tent campers seeking waterfront access.
Most campsites face the lake with what one reviewer describes as "beach sand front as your front porch." The campground provides basic amenities including portable toilets, picnic tables, and firewood availability. Campers can reserve sites in advance or claim available spots on arrival. Site numbers 19 and 20 receive particular praise from visitors for their lake positioning and sunrise views.
Water activities dominate the recreation here, with direct beach access for swimming and lake viewing. The facility includes a boat launch and dumpster service. Annabelle G. notes the campground "has camp host, very accommodating to customers" and mentions nearby shower facilities available for a small fee. Cell service reaches the area adequately, though some campers report road conditions can be rough during certain weather.
Additional camping options exist at J.W. Wells State Park Campground for those exploring the broader region. Fox County Park operates as a no-frills lakefront base where campers wake to Lake Michigan sunrise views and fall asleep to wave sounds.
