Trap Pond State Park Campground's pet-friendly sites accommodate tent, RV, cabin, and even yurt campers throughout the year. Located near Laurel, Delaware, the campground offers water and electric hookups at most sites, with clean bathhouses featuring free hot showers nearby. Dogs must be leashed at all times and owners are expected to clean up after their pets throughout the park. The spacious campsites in Loop D provide good separation with tree cover and views of the pond from select locations. Additional pet-friendly options include Shad Landing Campground at Pocomoke River State Park and Assateague State Park Campground, both allowing pets at tent and RV sites. The bathrooms remain clean with individual family-style facilities in each camping loop. Campsites have fire rings and picnic tables, though sites aren't always perfectly level.

Multiple pet-friendly trails surround Trap Pond, ideal for walking dogs on leashes while exploring the unique cypress swamp environment. The hiking and biking trails range from easy, wide paths to more secluded routes through pine forests and along waterways. Water access points allow pets to cool off, though the shallow pond with underwater obstacles isn't suitable for swimming. Free bike rentals make exploring the trail system more accessible, with most paths featuring smooth stone dust surfaces suitable for pets of all sizes. During summer months, campers should check their pets regularly for ticks, as the tiny variety found in this region can be problematic. Nearby Ocean City beaches and Assateague Island offer additional day trip opportunities for campers seeking coastal experiences with their pets. The camp store stocks pet essentials for those who forget supplies.

      Love this place

What a great visit are having. Beautiful location with lots of space for everyone. Great beach and tiki bar. Pools for the family and very pet friendly. We stayed in the ‘big rig’ site within Club Castaway right on the water as we have a 40ft rig. Amenities are clean, staff friendly and helpful. Our dog, Daisy, loved the beach and the dog park and socialization w her pooch friends. Will be back.

      Shad Landing Campground

In 40 years of camping, this is the best campground!

Beautiful camping spot with all the amenities. Loops with electric or no electric, Pet-friendly loops and non-pet friendly loops. I have been camping there off and on for 40 years first as a kid and now with my family. I love to go there every year at all seasons of the year. The best campground I've ever found in Maryland. Close proximity to both Ocean City and Assateague Island.

      Bring bug spray!

Great park, awesome amenities. Would definitely go back. Price is not cheap but the amenities make it worth it. Can’t wait until the zip lining courses are back open. Stupid COVID!

Bugs were crazy bad in the dog park and the moisture rich tent areas. Bring bug spray or a flame thrower.

Point Lookout State Park - Temporarily Closed

      5 stars! Beautiful, clean, magical

Magical stay at Point Lookout — New Tulip Loop (Full Hook‑Up) and I’m already planning a return. The whole park feels peaceful and safe, the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful, and our site is clean and well‑maintained. The loop’s energy felt magical — quiet, restorative, and tucked into the trees so it felt private but not isolated. Full hookups were convenient and reliable; the site layout is roomy and pet‑friendly, with an easy walk to a beautiful dog beach so our pup had a blast. We walked to stunning beaches and spent afternoons watching water and sky at the tip of the peninsula — spectacular views where the Potomac meets the Chesapeake. The park’s Civil War history and lighthouse added fascinating, walkable sites to explore between beach time, giving the stay both recreation and depth. Clean facilities, helpful staff at the park office, and well-marked trails made everything low‑stress and enjoyable. If you want a peaceful, historic, pet‑friendly Class A spot with full hookups and gorgeous nearby beaches, Tulip Loop at Point Lookout is five stars from me.

      Sun Outdoors Ocean City Gateway

Plenty of perks with little crowd!

This is our favorite campground! It is close enough to ocean city we can enjoy the beach daily but far enough to relax in the woods! This campground is the small sister campground to frontier town. They have a free shuttle bus to provide transportation to assateaque island, frontier town, and ocean city. Campers here are eligible for discounts at frontier town as well! We tent camp but there are RV sites and cabins as well. There is an arcade, camp store, heated pool, playground, dog park, and mini golfing! The main pavilion has rentals for recreational equipment at no extra cost (hula hoops, balls, etc.) There are also themed weekends and scheduled activities throughout the week! The bathhouses are cleaned many times a day and the showers are spacious enough. The staff here is friendly and welcoming. Each tent site is far enough away from the other that you feel spread out and private. This is definitely a place I recommend to friends and family.

Assateague Island National Seashore Oceanside Campground

      Best Beach Camping in Maryland

Wild horses, wide, clean stretches of beach, safe surroundings, close to town. This is the best beach camping in all of Maryland. Pros:

      • the beach is wide with plenty of room to stretch out and is much cleaner than that of OC and surrounding beach areas
      • the wild horses walk right up to your site!
      • almost glamping- water pumps, outhouses, showers on each loop- much appreciated after days of sand, sun, and sweat
      • pet friendly
      • fire rings at each site, bonfires on the beach

      Cons:

      • it's expensive! Sites average $30 per night AND each car is $20 to enter the park
      • reservations are practically mandatory- they book fast with little vacancy
      • this is a barrier island- mosquitos are legit. Bring bug spray with DEET. You should also expect little protection from the sun, so a canopy shelter may be helpful
      • lack of privacy- each site is only several feet from the next. Take a look at the map and book large group sites or several in a loop together for friends

      Beautiful campground

Beautiful campground. We were in Tulip loop with full hookups. Very private large sites. Wooded with tall pines. The stars were amazing! Could see the Milky Way and every star in the sky no light pollution. Nice beaches and pet beach for our dogs.

Bayside Assateague Campground — Assateague Island National Seashore

      Windy!

I stayed here for two nights during the week in late April 2019.

The weather in late April was generally OK, other than the wind.  The wind was so strong that none of my tent stakes would stay in the sand, and when I was finally able to secure a stake by putting something heavy on it, the wind ripped my guy rope.  Brutal.  I couldn't even start a campfire because the firepit was downwind and very close to my car and tent, and I didn't want them to go up in flames.

I guess the wild horses are OK, but I didn't find them particularly interesting.  They are definitely not very shy--one of them stuck his nose right in my tent.

I had my dog with me at this campground--IIRC the campgrounds in this park in VA are non-pet friendly, but the campgrounds in MD are pet-friendly (but I might have that backwards, so check their websites to make sure!).

      Sun Outdoors Rehoboth Bay

      Finally found our favorite

Plenty of room for big rigs. Sites are spacious and roads are wide. Hookups work great and it has the best wifi I've ever seen. Hotspots throughout the park. It is on the Rehobeth Bay. They have sites on the bay or on the shores of the lagoons. Restaurants, bars, pool, beach, dog park and beach, game room, well stocked store, the list goes on and on. We had to cancel this years trip there but just took a day trip and stopped in. They are still adding amenities throughout the park. The staff is excellent. Golf cart, kayak, and bike rentals are available. This is an excellent park to bike ride and kayak in. Just outside the campground is a public boat launch into the bay. It's a neat place to sit on the docks and watch the boats or fish. Crabbing and clamming can be done right at the campground. The offer a shuttle to Rehobeth Beach which is a great idea because the parking at the beach is limited.
