Reservations are available at Pine Grove Campground, a privately run, forested property open April through December with nightly rates running $45 to $70. Sites are large and drive-in accessible, with full hookups for RVs up to 50 feet, including electric, water, and sewer connections. A dump station is also on-site. The campground sits within a short bike ride of downtown Chincoteague, making it a practical base for exploring the island without paying rates at larger name-brand parks. Reviewers consistently note it runs 30 to 50 percent cheaper than comparable options on the island.
The property doubles as a bird sanctuary, and a pond on-site draws waterfowl, including black swans that reportedly approach visitors. Water birds are a recurring theme in both reviews and photos from the campground. Two reviewers flagged the bathhouses as older but generally clean, with reliable hot water. "Bathhouses are also older but generally clean," notes Tim S. The office keeps limited hours, roughly 9 to 3, but staff allow late arrivals to find a spot and check in the following morning. Pets are welcome.
Assateague Island and the beach are roughly seven minutes away by car, giving campers easy access to one of the area's main draws. Anglers will find fishing on the pond. Campers who prefer a more updated facility may want to consider Jellystone Park™ Chincoteague Island or look at campgrounds around Chincoteague Island for a broader set of options.
