Balanced Rock Campground

Ohmygoodness. This place is THE BEST. I couldn’t believe we found it in the middle of nowhere. Camping along both sides of road beside river inside small canyon. Walking distance to Balanced Rock. Lots of natural features. Kayakers paddle up and then float back down. Lots of fishing but little…

Dunes Above orhers

Checked in late as the sun was setting. Just in time to get thru dinner as the Sand Dunes turned purple majesty. Free hot showers heated bathrooms and great views of the Dunes. Recommend the SW corner sites 31, unobstructed views

Nice free campsite

With some fire rings and in May, clean pit toilets. Lots of bugs, but then lots of birds! Right on the Bruneau arm of the snake. The sites are well spaced and not very defined. A local fishing favorite with several huge rigs and generators at one end and someone doing miserable rap karaoke at the…

More ticks than I’ve ever seen in my life

Do not come here during spring! We found 6 ticks within an hour of being there. You might have better luck at black sands RV resort down the road but a local said it’s best to avoid bringing your pets there or camping at all there.

Open, sandy basic campground with some unique interesting sights nearby

The campground is not why you go here. The sites are very basic, sandy, close together however, if you like sightseeing and exploring this place is unique and interesting. The sand dune is huge and weird to see in the middle of this farmland. Not another one for hundreds of miles. That, and the…

Incredible camp spot

One of the coolest spots I’ve ever camped, and it was FREE! Definitely a hidden gem, pulled up late Sunday night around 830 and there was a few spots left. Bathroom out of TP but thankfully had our own. If you’re looking for a clean beautiful free spot, this is IT!

Spring camping

Drove up on a Friday no reservations and got a great spot by the dam. Bathrooms were very clean and fire pits were great. Plenty of room to enough a quick weekend

I went there with my family and it was great. The only thing was if you do not go as far in you are bound to see more people.

On the Reservoir

A large campground geared toward boating with a great location right on the reservoir. Not a lot of shade trees but a beautiful high desert setting.

Right on the reservoir

Great camp ground for water sports.  All sites near the water.  Not much shade in the heat of the summer and the campsites are fairly close together.

A hidden gem in Idaho!

Bruneau Dunes State Park is a hidden gem in Idaho just 20 min off I-84 in Idaho not far from Boise. There is a small field of sand dunes in the park and the largest dune is the largest active dune structure in NorthAmerica. A couple of lakes and ponds are also found at the base of the dunes. There…

Quiet and clean

I spent a couple nights here the weekend before Thanksgiving. It was quiet and clean. There wasn’t any cell or wifi service or reception in the canyon.

Sand Dunes

My first time in Idaho and talk about diversity and beauty. Bruneau Dunes is just another example of the variety of experiences to be had within this state! Windy, sunny and sandy best describes the whole park. The sand was a little toasty so I kept the dogs mostly in the shade. Sliding down the…

Nice for boating and fishing

This is a little campground next to North Park and Locust Park in the CJ Strike complex.  It is nestled up against the dam and offers nice camp sites with turf grass. Good fishing here.  It is hot in the summer but there are numerous shade trees.  I am a tent camper so this is not the kind of place…
