ScoutTucked away in a small farming community is this single space RV spot, next to a shop and along a field we don’t feel like we’re at a campground at all. Easy commutes to many towns and all the stores you could want just 15 minutes away. There is no sewer connection but we managed just fine. What a nice place to relax.
ScoutMy family has enjoyed paddle boarding and kayaking at Terryall State Wildlife Area for many years. On July 27, 2025, we were issued a collective $837 citation for being present in the area without a fishing license. Apparently, you cannot use the campground, picnic areas or lake for ANY purpose other than hunting and fishing. There is NO signage to explain this. A Keep Colorado Wild pass DOES NOT allow access.

TravelerThe photos did not do this area justice!! There were some mixed reviews about needing a high clearance vehicle/4x4. We took our Subaru Crosstrek and the drive up was rough. We made it unscathed because my husband is a great driver but I wouldn’t try this unexperienced!!
The coordinates will take you to the start of the rocky part of the drive (Stewart road I think?) so from there to our campsite it probably took us another 25 minutes.
We set up camp a little prematurely because we were ready to be done driving, but once we started hiking up towards Loch Lomond Lake, we quickly saw a ton of even better spots with mountain and water views. Next time!
ScoutBusy but plenty of space for privacy. Walking distance down a navigable road to the reservoir. Limited amenities, but 1 bathroom and a trash site. Bears in the area. Permanent campfire ban taken very seriously, forest rangers around giving tickets for fire. $500 each. Don't be stupid! Take care of this beautiful place.
TravelerGreat spot. First 30 or few spots are a little close, accessible for most vehicles but fills up quickly. Past 30, they get more dispersed but more difficult to get to. Past 35 or so it’s a true 4x4 trail, only saw broncos/jeeps past this. Trail continues pretty far down, but opens up to 48 spots or so near the tree line.
Great spot! Highly recommend 4WD for anyone going. Stock jeeps/broncos will be fine past 30s. Would go again
LegendDid not find disperse camping on bald Mountain Road, but grab this little pull off for the night. Fits one vehicle.
GuideThere are spots by the river and up in the meadow. The river is a little noisy from the road and close to the horses. Its beautiful though . Meadow spots are quieter. National Forest hiking trails within walking distance. Amazing hosts. Neat story behind the camp. Weather is amazing up here when it’s hot in Denver. 4 stars only because there are no showers for campers.
TravelerPartly my own fault. I didn't check the reviews! The road up is steep and has multiple sharp switchback turns. Got to the final turn and it was too tight for my rig and I bottomed out. It took some maneuvering but we managed to get out but it was super stressful. Plus, we found out the spots were full.
