Tubing & swimming in the creek is wonderful especially in summertime," notes camper Dea D.
Water activities: Fishing and tubing options are available minutes from several Morrison area campgrounds. "Our favorite is the fishing, so much fun fishing in all the different spots along the creek. Always a fun time for our family here!" according to reviews from Clear Creek RV Park.
Mountain exploration: Idaho Springs RV Resort provides a convenient base for mountain adventures. "Great spot! We stayed at site 39 and it was perfectly level with beautiful surroundings. Great view of the mountains right outside our window," reports James L.
What campers like
Proximity to Denver attractions: Dakota Ridge RV Park offers convenient access to both urban and mountain activities. "This campground allows easy access to Denver, Golden, and the foothills. Campers are close together, but there are some mature trees. This campground is nicer than most that provide access to Denver," shares Colorado C.
Walkable towns: Many appreciate the accessibility to Golden's downtown area. "This small, but clean, campground is located perfectly a walk, or bike ride, away from the town of Golden. Not too far from hwy 70 it a great overnight stop or a destination," reports Rebeca H. about Clear Creek RV Park.
Mountain views: Visitors value the natural scenery available from certain campgrounds. "The sites are a pretty good size, it's close to a lot of stores, restaurants, etc, it has a small pool and hot tub, and it has a cool hill you can climb and see views of Denver," notes Charlie & Danielle B. about their stay at Dakota Ridge RV Park.
What you should know
Space limitations: Many RV parks in the area have tight spacing between sites. "The sites are very tight and the entire place is gravel, so this is not the place to go to get out into the wild," comments a camper about Prospect RV Park (now Applewood RV Resort).
Pet restrictions: Applewood RV Resort has specific rules for pet owners. "Portable dog pens are not allowed. Tethering is not allowed. We don't like tethering and our rv is small so we travel with some wire folding dog fence so that our dogs can hop in and out of the rv when the weather is good. At this park they can only be on a 6 ft leash attached to a human," explains CK C.
Seasonal operation: Some campgrounds only operate during warmer months. "Clear Creek RV Park is open from May 1 through September 30," according to their listing information, restricting off-season camping options.
Tips for camping with families
Park accessibility: Choose campgrounds with nearby recreational spaces. "Along a gorgeous walking path to the mountains, within immediate walking distance to multiple breweries and restaurants, and extremely accessible to the mountains. Love it here!" recommends Janine R. from Clear Creek RV Park.
Swimming options: Idaho Springs RV Resort & Campground provides amenities that kids enjoy. "Place was nice. Showers great. Loved it," notes Landon S., though facilities are limited compared to larger resorts.
Nature encounters: Some parks offer wildlife viewing opportunities. "We have uninvited friends, deers all over! Ghost was very nice and many friendly peoples. Plenty of shade as well," shares Ioan P. about Diamond Campground & RV Park, which is located about an hour from Morrison.
Tips from RVers
Internet access: Working remotely is possible at some locations. "Cell Service: 3 bars of 5Ge on AT&T. My personal hotspot worked great here. WiFi: Slow, but strong signal and definitely usable for light web browsing. Google speed test showed 2Mbps down, 0.40Mbps up," reports Jason F. about Tiger Run RV Resort, which is farther from Morrison but offers more amenities.
Level sites: Some parks have better surfaces than others. "The sites are also all concrete so leveling was very easy," notes Charlie & Danielle B., contrasting with reports from other parks with uneven gravel sites.
Noise considerations: Several campgrounds experience noise from nearby roads. "Colfax Road is extremely busy & unfortunately loud. The property has seen better days. Sites are not necessarily level & certainly aren't spacious," warns Michele A. about Dakota Ridge RV Park.
