    Riverview RV Park & Campground

    Quick Stop close to Loveland

Campground is situated along the Big Thompson River. Big cottonwood trees. Easy accessibility for big rigs. Some items … water valves leak in lakes around entire park and many are leaking. No dog runs for pups, lots of places to walk though. There are long term “campers” at this park. Bathrooms were clean but dated.

    Denver West-Central City KOA

    Mountain High

Yes Mountain High!! 8100’ high. 7 miles off I-70 at Idaho Springs. 25 miles into outskirts of Denver. Don’t worry they have oxygen! Not kidding!!

Nice campground, friend staff, laundry, fun little gift shop with some food stuffs, beer and liquor. Pizza cooked there but we didn’t try it.

Our space was a big rig space on concrete pad with ample seating, a table, a fire pit, and a propane grill stove… use you own propane! Full hook ups. It was still reaching freezing at night and so we didn’t hook up our water.

    Loveland RV Resort

Fair Site Pricing & Nice Amenities But A Few Additional Fees

I wanted to stop into this area after exploring a few campgrounds designed more so for tent campers in the area. I noticed some of these spaces were not ideal for those wanting to bring their RV and have amenities and that really was something that I know many of the people I know really look for when finding their locations for travel. Loveland is a little further away from the entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park but it offers many great things to those wanting to explore the area and still be within comfortable distance of the park itself. The RV Resort is designed for both larger and smaller rigs and offers a variety of comfortable amenities for campers of this style.

There are 4 basic styles of offerings at this location including full hook up, oversized full hook up, premium and premium back up sites. These prices range from$56 to$65 for base single night stay. They do offer both weekly and monthly rates as well for those really wanting to enjoy the area.

Something which I have found very common amongst these style of locations is that while they do offer base charges which do not include tax there are many times additional fees depending on certain amenities. This campground was no different with additional charges for parties of over 4 people, extra vehicles or pets. Additionally they do have a sizable$20 dump fee, I found this to be quite high, especially considering there is a free dump station only a few miles up the way at another facility which allows campers or passers by alike to use their dump station.

Something nice is they do offer a Good Sam discount if you belong to the affiliated program which is a few dollars off the price of nightly stay.

Additionally amenities include a pool and mini golf which were quite nice and a clubhouse with several really cool things inside. They have a playground for the kiddos and a dog park for the furry family.

Overall the park itself seemed to have wide roadways for navigating and though for my personal taste the sites are located pretty close together they were pretty typically placed for an RV style park. Unlike several parks I have encountered in the area and others, this place did not have the long term stay option readily flagrant and while they might offer it you do not see people who look like they have moved in and allowed their area to become homely and run down. Quite the opposite, the grounds were very clean and inviting, everyone was very friendly and nothing looked like a“there goes the neighborhood” moment.

Glacier Basin Campground — Rocky Mountain National Park

    Wonderful Stay

I have a 22’ travel trailer I pull behind an F150. Since this campground is inside Rocky Mountain National Park, the roads are all paved.

The campground sites are situated around one-way driving loops, which are quite narrow. Best to pay attention to which side of the loop your site is on so your trailer door doesn’t open up onto the road. I think they error on the side of caution when it comes to the size of trailer fitting into each spot. At least for mine. They said max 26’ (trailer + tow vehicle), but I’m closer to 32’ and I fit fine. That may not be true of all campsites though. There is parking very close by if your tow vehicle can’t squeeze into the site.

My site didn’t have a whole lot of trees, but they planted a bunch of small ones to try and fix this years from now. Sites were level and had lots of space. Each had a fire pit and picnic table.

There were no hookups and no cell service (Verizon). They did have trash drop offs, water for cleaning pans and dishes, and bathrooms. It was very quiet at night. Generators are allowed but only for a couple times a day during short windows.

Glacier Basin campground is just a few miles from the Bear Lake trailhead. It was very nice to stay inside the park. Vehicle passes to get into National Parks were still required when I stayed and the lines to get in were very long and slow.

    Loveland Station Campground - CLOSED

    New owners, New Name.

Falcon’s Landing RV Park 648 NE Frontage Road Johnstown CO 80534

    Ph: 970-800-1569 Email: falconslandingrv@hotmail.com URL: falconslandingrv.com

Family owned and operated. They have a great long range plans for the improvement of the park with added amenities. Great progress has been made in cleaning up the park and making it more inviting. Most of the older trashy campers have left. There still is a fair amount of long-term campers but their spaces are looking much better and their campers are in better condition for the most part. all the spaces have full hook ups and there is room for big rigs. Our camper is a 42 foot fifth wheel. There is a laundry, clean restrooms and showers and mail service. There are not a lot of amenities for children at this point but those are in their future plans. This campground is actually located on the east edge of Loveland Colorado and on the east side of interstate I 25 and just south of Highway 34. For being next to the interstate, it is a very quiet campground with lots of trees and plants. A great place to stay while visiting the Rocky Mountains. They are not really geared for overnight camping but I’m sure they would accommodate if they had an open space. Their rates are reasonable and they seem to stay full most of the time time so it is best to call ahead and reserve a site. We stayed here in November and December 2020 And again now since April 1 and will be leaving mid June.

    Flatiron Reservoir Campground

    Disappointed

We stayed at site F03 from June 8–14 (we left a day early) and were very disappointed in the condition of this campground.

We live full-time in our motorhome and have traveled extensively across the country. Sadly, this was one of the worst campsites we’ve stayed at. The grass was extremely overgrown, the bushes and trees were encroaching on the site, and the water spigot in our area was non-functional. The site itself was so steep that we had to pull in forward just to attempt leveling our Class A RV—completely unsuitable for big rigs.

Adding to that, this is not a full hookup site. You're paying over $50 per night (after the additional $10 vehicle charge) for electricity only, with the nearest dump station 7 miles away. That price is far too high for what’s offered, especially given the lack of maintenance.

To their credit, the park office was understanding and did refund two nights of our stay, which we appreciated. However, we left a day early and will not be returning.

Elk Meadows Lodge & RV Resort

    Beautiful View / Accessible Location

Good Sam discount CO RV Parks are all more on the expensive side, but Elk Meadow is on the lower end of those around them. Great access to the RMNP(5 mins max!), as well as to downtown. Beautiful views of Longs Peak! Nearest grocery is close(5 miles away). Elk occasionally pass thru the front area which was really cool! There is also a little area next to the RV park where I think they park stored vehicles and it's a great place to walk. It's dirt, but about the size of a track.

GUEST SERVICES= great customer service! Friendly staff anytime I went into the office; they shuffled around to accommodate out extended stay on the spot so we wouldn't have to relocate and could stay at our site the whole time we were in town. We appreciated that!

WIFI/ CELL SERVICE= provided, but not reliable. We used our AT&T hotspot the entire time bc we work remote. Cell service was 4 bars and worked fine in the entire campground.

LAUNDRY: Not the cleanest laundry room we've been too, but it worked. There was a soap and water station in the laundry I used to wipe down the inside of the washer(by the chlorox holder) before using. The trashcan always seemed to be overflowing with lent and trash, but again, clean enough.

SITE: Wide roads and turns; easy to navigate throughout the campground; quiet; picnic table; spacious, no shade, needed levels on one side of our RV; dirt roads throughout so, unless it rained, it was very dusty and so we didn't open our windows as much as we wanted with the fresh mountain air. When it rained and calmed down the dust, then it was perfect to open the windows.

East Portal Campground at Estes Park

    Clean, quiet and beautiful.

Family friendly campground at the end of a quiet road near RMNP. Quiet, no generators heard as big rigs won’t fit! Tents, vans, car camping and camper trailers fit well. Clean bathrooms, hot showers, friendly hosts, ice and fire wood for sale. Big playground and not crazy expensive.

Guide to Boulder

RV camping near Boulder, Colorado offers strategic access to both mountain and city adventures with sites typically ranging from 2,500 to 5,500 feet in elevation. Seasonal options vary considerably, with most parks at higher elevations operating from May through September due to winter weather conditions. The majority of campgrounds within 30 miles of Boulder maintain paved access roads suitable for larger rigs.

What to do

Creek access recreation: Manor RV Park sits adjacent to a creek offering refreshing water activities during summer months. "Beautiful place! We called ahead to reserve a site for the night. Arrived after the office had closed. Had a back-in full-hookups site that backed up to the walking path/sidewalk beside the river," shares one camper about their experience at this location.

Bike path exploration: Clear Creek RV Park connects to extensive trail networks perfect for cycling enthusiasts. "Along a gorgeous walking path to the mountains, within immediate walking distance to multiple breweries and restaurants, and extremely accessible to the mountains," notes a visitor who spent over a month at this Golden location.

Wildlife viewing: Many parks near Boulder offer opportunities to observe native wildlife without leaving your campsite. "Two bull elk were hanging out at our site one day... the big herd was just down the street... there was also a mule deer herd with a big buck hanging out just down the street," reports a Manor RV Park visitor who appreciated these natural encounters.

What campers like

Mountain views: Spruce Lake RV Park in Estes Park provides scenic vistas that campers consistently highlight. "Prime location to both RMNP and Estes Park. Great WiFi. Extra clean facilities. Great Mountain views," notes one reviewer who gave the location five stars despite acknowledging the tight spacing.

Urban conveniences: Loveland RV Resort offers amenities typically unavailable at more remote sites. "The location is off the main road that has every store or restaurant you could ever want. Giant cottonwoods are located throughout park. Large fenced dog area. Beautiful bathroom and laundry facilities," explains one visitor who appreciated the practical amenities.

Weekend entertainment: Some parks organize social activities for guests. One visitor to Elk Meadows Lodge & RV Resort mentioned, "The lodge had a band on weekend and there is a big dog run and activities," highlighting the communal atmosphere that some RV parks foster to create community among travelers.

What you should know

Price variations: Dakota Ridge RV Park and similar facilities near Boulder charge premium rates compared to more rural locations. "Overall just seems pricey," noted one visitor, while another mentioned specific infrastructure issues: "The site chosen is gravel with a hole or two and significantly tilted low to the front left...requiring a 4 high stack."

Seasonal operations: Several parks in the region have limited operating seasons. Clear Creek RV Park runs from May through September, while Spruce Lake RV Park specifies a May 1 to September 30 season, with most mountain facilities closing during winter months.

Site limitations: Many reviewers mention the proximity between camping spots. "Sites are very tight with no privacy unless you are along the edges of the park," notes one camper about Spruce Lake RV Park, a common observation across multiple facilities in the area.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Riverview RV Park & Campground provides dedicated play areas for children. "Huge park with playground for kids. Our site was very wide and open, but we might just have been lucky. Most are tree covered sites and not packed in," notes a visitor who appreciated the family-friendly amenities.

Pool availability: When traveling with children during summer months, pools provide welcome relief from heat. "Kids loved mini golf and the pool. I appreciated the pull through-site and proximity to activities," mentions a visitor to Spruce Lake RV Park, highlighting multiple recreation options.

Safety considerations: Choose parks with controlled access and clear boundaries. "This place is run like a military base. Lots of rules like no walking you or your dogs through anyone else's site or empty sites," explains a camper at Loveland RV Resort, noting that while strict, the rules help maintain a safe, orderly environment.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: Elk Meadows Lodge & RV Resort and similar parks offer varying quality sites. "We got site 37 right along the fast moving creek. Amazing views in 360 degrees of the mountains," shares one visitor who recommended requesting specific locations when making reservations.

Utility placement challenges: Multiple reviewers mention sewer connection placement issues. One Manor RV Park visitor noted, "The site we stayed at had the sewer dump farther back than we are used to, but not a major problem just had to use our longer hose."

Weather preparedness: The Boulder region experiences sudden weather changes requiring specific equipment. "Must have a water pressure regulator or you'll come back to a flooded RV," warns one camper about Applewood RV Resort, while another mentions, "It can be suddenly and very windy here, so most campers did not use awnings."
