Equestrian campers gain access to designated horse trails and corrals at this Forest Service campground in Pike National Forest. Indian Creek Equestrian Campground operates seasonally from late May through early September, accommodating RVs up to 40 feet with full hookups including water and sewer connections.
The campground divides into distinct areas, with equestrian facilities separate from standard tent camping loops. Sites 1-4 provide natural shade from forest cover, while sites 5-8 sit in more open terrain. D. notes that "Site 3 has the very best flat pad with the table, ring and still room for a 10x10 tent or shade tent area." Water spigots are positioned near the vault toilets, and camp hosts assist with site management and information.
Trail access leads directly from the campground parking area, connecting to maintained hiking and mountain biking routes. One trail features hidden carved figures for visitors to discover during walks. However, Trail #800 currently shows significant erosion damage with deep channels and overgrown vegetation that complicate navigation. The Colorado Trail system runs through the broader area for places to camp near Pike National Forest.
Access requires driving mostly paved roads, though the final approach can become rough during wet conditions. The no-pets policy strictly applies to all campers. Reservations are available through the Forest Service system for this $30-per-night facility.
