Naga-Waukee Park and Golf Course are located just north of I-94 spanning the lands between the shores of Nagawicka Lake and Pewaukee Lake.

This 414-acre parcel consists of a regional park, a championship 18-hole golf course, and two lake access sites. The diverse topographical features were created during the glacial age, which enhances the beauty of the site. Naga-Waukee Park spans 206 acres and offers a spectacular view of Nagawicka Lake as you meander down the boardwalk to the lake access or beach.

Another boardwalk awaits you as it winds through the trees along the lakefront. It is a splendid view and a great photo opportunity. The oak hickory forest and thick undergrowth define the trails that wind throughout the park, which is home to many different species of wildlife. Many Baltimore Orioles make Naga-Waukee their home, as well as Great Horned Owls.

    Oostburg, Wisconsin

When you’re relaxing on the warm, sandy beaches at Kohler–Andrae State Park, gazing across the watery expanse of Lake Michigan, you’re not likely contemplating the area’s nearly two-million-year history. This is when Ice Age glaciers carved out the lake basin and rising and falling water levels dramatically changed the landscape. Soon after, the first Paleo-Indians began inhabiting the area, who hunted mammoths and giant musk ox around the northeastern regions. Moving into the Christian Era, the Hopewell, Chippewa, Potowatomi, and Sauk took turns residing here. Then came European settlers in the 19th century, who had no interest in beachfront property, as it couldn’t be farmed. It wasn’t until the early 20th century that Americans started to value outdoor recreation as a form of relaxation and entertainment. Today, you can enjoy this 1000 acres of sandy beaches, rolling dunes and mixed woods, where you’re more likely to be contemplating the cool breeze what to barbecue for dinner.

For grilling up your tasty burgers, be they beef, beet, or anything in between, Kohler–Andrae State Park offers a large campground with fire rings and picnic tables in each site. There are more than 130 tent and RV sites to choose from, some with electrical hookups. There is also two group tent sites. The campground provides flush restrooms with showers, picnic areas and shelters, a playground, amphitheater, and laundry facilities; a dump station is located nearby. The campground is open year-round, but some amenities may not be available in winter months. Dogs are permitted in the campground and on some trails, but must remain leashed. Campers can access the beach through the picnic area or via a short nature trail. There is also an ADA accessible cabin available to rent. Campsite reservations can be made up to 11 months in advance; seasonal rates are $15–$40/night.

While soaking up the sun and splashing in the lake are the main draw to Kohler–Andrae State Park, there’s much to do. Visit the Sanderling Nature Center at the north end of the park where you can explore interactive exhibits about the area’s natural history, and native flora and fauna. Kids can become Wisconsin Explorers and earn a patch for completing activities. For some paddling fun, you can launch your kayak or paddleboard right from the beach, or for fishing, head over to the fishing pond on the Ancient Shores Trail. And speaking of trails, the park has 8.5 miles of nature paths and hiking trails to explore, many of which are barrier-free. A walk on the aforementioned Ancient Shores Trail reveals where the lakeshore existed more than 5,000 year ago; the Marsh Trail along the Black River is a good place for bird and wildlife watching; and the Dunes Cordwalk explores the park’s dunes, wetlands and white pine forest.

    Hebron Campground

Small, Tidy with Lots of Waterworks

This is a relatively small, private campground mostly for RVs though there are some very nice sites that would be lovely for tents. There are a dozen tent sites that back up to a very charming river, each one has a picnic table and fire pit. The view of the river from these sites is lovely. Adding to the waterworks, there is a cute pond with a charming fountain in the center of the RV sites, and a nice horseshoes pit. There are a number of RV sites with full hookups.

I spoke with the owner and they did not have tent camping in 2020. They were worried about people in too close proximity in the restroom. In 2020 they only allowed RVs that had their own restroom facilities. The owner told me that maybe there will be tent camping in 2021.

    Fondu Lac County Fairground

Perfect Spot Close to City's Amenities

The Fon Du Lac Fairgrounds was a great place to park our camper with full hook ups. It was great to be able to stay in the middle of the city/town versus on the outskirts like most normal campgrounds.

We did not use the campgrounds bathrooms or showers but from their website they had some available. We were close to our neighbors on either side, but the park wasn’t full so it did not feel like we were on top of one another.

We did have to buy two extenders for our sewer hose as our 38 foot rig’s sewer spigot was too far from the sewer hook up. This was an affordable place to stay and was within walking distance to a coffee shop and a pizza place. The staff was very friendly upon arriving and leaving. We paid $25 per night.

    Wisconsin State Fair RV Park

    Very nice, clean and convenient

We stayed at State Fair RV Park in Milwaukee for two months while waiting to retire and work out bugs in our new RV. The park was all cement, it was clean and quiet. Laundry and shower facilities were kept very clean as well. There were plenty of grassy areas to take our dog out to potty. The Park is close to many restaurants and shopping. It is also the only RV park in Milwaukee.

    Wisconsin State Fair RV Park

    Only RV park in Milwaukee

Well located to Milwaukee, nice clean facilities, but it is basically a large parking lot with a band of grass on the far right as you enter. We took an electric only site on the far right and were backed up against a band of grass. Full hookup sites are all blacktop. Not a place for recreation, but good as a base for Milwaukee attractions.

Poor campground with not very nice management

I would avoid at all costs. Country View down the road in Mukwonago is much better and at a lower cost. At least you get full hookups, great management and it’s not full of run down full timer sites.

Pinewoods Campground — Kettle Moraine State Forest-Southern Unit

    Mixed Bag

The Pinewoods Campground is an odd mix. The comfort station (ie flush toilets with sinks and baby changing station) and shower facility is well maintained and centrally located to the camp ground with nearby playground, field area, and a little free library. The bathrooms located closest to the campsites are pit toilets that are lit at night, toilet paper provided, and hand sanitizer. The individual campsites are good sized (some with electric hookup for RVs) with dirt/pine needle ground instead of gravel areas which are more comfortable for tents. The tall trees keep the area shaded and cool even on hot summer days. The shade limits ground growth which pro - limits mosquitoes, but con - leaves clear eye-lines from one site to the neighbors. Kettle Moraine Forest - South as a park area has miles of trails for hiking, biking, skiing, and horse back riding. But individual trail areas are spread miles apart and driving or biking between sites is often required.

Overall its a great area for families or inexperienced/unsure campers but if you're looking to get out into nature and away from civilization this isn't the place for you. Also if you are a family with young children then loop 1 (campsites 1-36) which is a 24hour quiet zone should not be your first choice.

    Lots of kids activities

Sites are medium sized. We had full hookup which was nice. Plenty of things to keep kids busy. Store has lots of stuff and necessities. Was alittle more expensive than some other places but they had a large variety within. Staff all seemed to be new and weren't all on the same page half the time. They charged $8-12 for visitors which was ridicules. 70 year old people had to pay $13 because they might use their facilities.

    Derge County Park

Open grassy area near fishing and boating lake

This place surprised me. It’s relatively close to town and yet it’s miles down a dead end road so it’s really quiet. The host was super nice. Friendly welcomes are the best! The sites are large and open. We were here when it was empty so filled sites might make a different experience.

Sites have electric and there is a dump station so it’s set up for RVs but there is space for tents too. Flushing toilets and showers were an unexpected treat.

The lake is just across the road so bring your fishing gear or canoe. There is a small park by the shore but not really any place to walk my dog. We did laps and Dakota was perfectly happy.

This place is worth a stop if you want a quiet spot to enjoy life.

    Playful Goose Of Horicon

    Beautiful location, but.....

This park was in an absolutely beautiful area, but it needs a lot of TLC. Many of the sites were overgrown and there are a lot of rundown permanent sites here.

We had a full hookup site and are not pool users, so I’m not aware of bathroom or pool conditions. This is a very peaceful park and a short ride to the Horicon Marsh which is a must see for bird-lovers.

I hope the owners are able to put some more time into caring for this campground and turning it into the exceptional park it has the potential to be.

    Very Commercial Park

This pretty nice park is obviously aimed at kids and kids at heart.  It has a lot of amenities that were not available when we were there.  They have their hand out for everything which can make your stay rather expensive.  The sit itself is pretty nice with level sites and good water and electric.  The bath house was a little disappointing as there was no hot water and we were told that it had been that way all week.  Wifi is purchased and not the best even though there were hardly anyone else in the park.

We stayed here because it was close to people we wanted to see and our other choices were not available.

Best for RVs, lots to do

This is a campground with semi-permanent and permanent trailers and RVs. Sites have electricity and water hookups. There is a nice little pond in the park and it's very well maintained and groomed. They have little go-karts and bikes to rent, they have propane gas to rent and sell ice. They also have Wi-Fi!

I spoke with the owner, there are tent sites, but unless you were with an RV group, a tent camper might feel a bit out of place. Still, it's out of the way from traffic and other noises, has a very park-like feel to it and the owner was very nice when I spoke with him.

    Cliffside Park Campground

    Clean and Quiet campsite

The campsite was clean and well maintained. The campsite is mainly for RVs but it didn't feel like I am camping in a parking lot. The sites are not secluded but far enough from each other. The bathhouse was clean and well maintained as well. I really enjoyed the free hot(real hot, not lukewarm hot) shower in the morning.

There were many families with kids. There are small playgrounds and the campsite is open enough that kids can freely run around.

You can go for a short walk to the cliff side. If you have waterproof shoes, take them with you. When we were going there, it was really wet that our shoes got totally wet.

FYI, Half of the fire pit didn't have the grill top.

    Harrington Beach State Park Campground

    Beautiful secluded state park!

This was our first time camping in Wisconsin and we got to say we absolutely love this park. Most of the sites are pretty secluded so if you enjoy your privacy I will love this place. Everything was clean and updated including the bathrooms. The campsites are about a mile or two from Lake Michigan but it is an easy drive or hike as there are many trails that go through the park. When we went to the lake level was up so high due to flooding that we weren’t really able to enjoy the beach but normally there is plenty of coastline for enjoying some beach time.

    Wisconsin State Fair RV Park

    Really Great City Park

The quality of most city parks, especially on the east side, is abhorrent simply because they can be. I always have low expectations when I enter a city that basically has one option for RVs.

That being said, this is one of the best I’ve been to. Granted, it features things you would expect from a city park: cramped spaces, lots of noise, high nightly rates. But we lucked out getting one of the bigger spots.

Pros: LOCATION, Good wifi, great signal, friendly staff, lots of washers and dryers with a change machine, will accept and hold packages for guests.

Cons: The sewage system is strange at this park. We couldn’t reach ours during our stay and a camper had blocked the dump station so we pulled through in a vacant spot to dump. The pipe is highly elevated, making the process more hands-on than one would like. Bathrooms could have been cleaner, but I mostly blame guests for not picking up after themselves. The automated site selection process, which many have mentioned, is frustrating. I received six emails between Mar-Jun indicating they switched my spot. I noticed they placed a lot of large fifth wheels in tiny back in spaces when plenty pull throughs were available. Wonky system.

    Country View Campground

    Great place to stay

We found the Country View Campground to be an excellent place to stay while visiting the area. We stayed 4 nights while visiting relatives in the area. Sites are gravel for the RV, reasonably level, and well maintained. Our site was pull through. Hookups are in good condition. Electrical and water was shared with the neighbor next to us. Each site had plenty of grassy area. There were plenty of large trees.  Staff was very friendly and helpful.

There was a pool that we observed being used daily.

We found this to be an excellent place to stay.  We will stay again when traveling this way.

    Somewhat isolated sites

This is a nice park with very friendly staff and 50 amp power. No water or sewer but does have a dump station. The sites are gravel but very unlevel. To level my 35 foot motor home my rear tires had to come off the ground by at least 6 inches. The sites are bordered by natural grasses and foliage. That provides a feeling of isolation. If not for the unlevel sites I could easily give it 5 stars.

    Great little state park

Mauthor Lake is a beautiful state park in Wisconsin. Good for biking, hiking, swimming and fishing. Sites are fairly wooded and private. Most of them seemed to be a decent size. Electric hook-ups, but no water. You can fill up at the dump station but I recommend bringing drinking water. There is a general store just outside the park where you can rent row boats, kayaks and paddle boats. The beach is mostly shallow water great for little ones. Flush toilets and changing area nearby. Small concession stand and playground within eyesight of beach

    Lazy Days

    Lazy Days campground

Campground with beautiful lake, beach, camp store and lots of activities for kids including arcade. Very open. Not a lot of shade. Electric hookup for 30c a long reach. For some sites in “C” bathrooms a long walk.

    Cliffside Park Campground

    Nearly perfect campground

Gorgeous park in a somewhat remote, i.e., quiet area. The sites are large, level and well-dispersed; there’s plenty of shade; the electrical connections are well-placed. Unfortunately, the water connection in our site (61) was a bit of a stretch. Contact via phone was a bit challenging; it took awhile to get through then I had to leave a message. However, the agent who returned my call was exceptionally nice and helpful. Also unfortunate is the lack of oversight in the park. According to the website, each RV site can also accommodate a vehicle and one tent. During our stay, a huge party camped in their travel trailer with 4 more vehicles and at least 4 tents. Fortunately, they kept to themselves and were fairly quiet. Finally, there is just one dump station for the entire park. The wait to use it was over an hour so we found a pay-per use dump station along our route.

One Night Stay - Road Trip

I came in about 5 it 6 pm. Slef regrisation was simple and easy. Many spots to choose from since it’s the shoulder season. It was just myself, and I tented. Keep in mind that walk-ups are on the right side (sites 1-41), if you don’t reserve a spot. Also, drive around and check to make sure the spot you want isn’t reserved.

Each spot had a table, hookups and a fire pit.

Bathrooms were super clean and showers are free. Very impressed and satisfied.
