Cozy little bumpin campground

This place had it all. A spring fed pond for swimming and fishing. Trails that took you through woods and then prairie and then up a decent elevation for an amazing view of the surrounding area. The weekend we were there they had live music, food trucks and a beer garden. This was well away from the campsite areas so if you are just there for nature it didn’t impede on that.

Nice county park

We did a group camp and had a great site. There were 3 families and had plenty of room. I’ve bathrooms but the only shower was by the beach and a long walk.

Ok

Plenty of sites but not very private. A few small trails. The water was rather gross when we were there, but the park ranger was really really friendly.

A county park with lots to offer

I did not stay at this park, but did drive and walk through it to get a feel for it. There are a number of sites I'd love to tent camp in.

This park is bounded by a lake with a nice beach. There are nicely-groomed volleyball courts, picnic shelters and abundant picnic tables. There are pit toilets throughout the campground and one flush toilet station in the public picnicking area.

The campsites are up the hill from the public areas I just described. Sites 1 through 8 are in an oak savannah, semi-shaded but mostly in a grassland area. Sites are grassy with no gravel pads for parking.

The group camping area is slightly shaded, but would be warm and sunny midday. Group site 19 is probably one of the shadiest areas.

Now, sites 22 and 23, 24, 25 and 26 are very cool. The campsites are in the midst of a pine forest. It would be sweet to tent camp there and listen to the wind in those trees. Note, there is no camping IN among the pine forest, and these sites are going to be quite sunny and warm midday without much shade.

Rustic and Quiet

Spacious sites without electric... each has your standard table & fire pit... plenty of greenery to feel secluded. There are toilets & trash collection scattered throughout... the park has a lot of amenities including a beachy pond area and an archery area where you can practice shooting from a blind above - great for hunters looking to brush up skills before the season starts. They also have 3-4 large group sites.

Nice family friendly swimming hole.

Small campgrounds in a small country park. There are a few camp sites most of which are very open and very little seclusion. A few nice shorter hiking loops that I believe can be used as horse trails as well. The trails are wood chipped covered and very easy. A few little ponds and a nice little surprise of old abandoned farm equipment. The best thing is probably the small man made pond. I believe it’s stocked with fish and offers a very family friendly swimming area. There’s a nice little concessions stand, a little sand area, and a small pier to jump off of. Also there are showers and toilets in the same building as the concessions stand. In short I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but if you were just looking to get away last minute or traveling through and need a place to stay it would definitely be an option. Especially if you had small children who could use a day swimming.

A decent spot.

This campground doesnt have any sites that feel private. Offers hiking fishing and a beach. Showers are not private stalls. Pretty area though.
