    Buckhorn State Park Campground

    West shore sites

We usually stay at the east shore sites but tried the west shore this time. The shore was not as level as the east side sites but still sandy and shallow for swimming. We could hear the bar blaring music across the lake until 10 or 11pm . There are more trees now than the website pictures show so there is some privacy between sites. Mosquitos were the worst i have ever experienced. The second we got out of the car they were all over us. We used the heaviest deet possible nonstop.

Sandstone Ridge Campground — Mirror Lake State Park

    Beautiful lake

The lake is great for kayaking. Lots of sandstone cliffs. We only did 2 hiking trails but they were well maintained. The site was good. The 202 area has a parking lot for 4 sites and a very short walk to the sites. Fire pit and picnic table were in good shape. The highway noise is loud and some military jets kept flying overhead. The raccoons were brutal. They broke into our crates twice. Smart enough to figure out the clip mechanism. Overall good site but a little noisy.

Fon du Lac County Waupun Park

    Peaceful wooded camping

Quiet level throughout. Spots for a couple tents and a camper at each site. Disc golf and a small fishing area. Golf course right next-door so close you could walk to. Most of the sites were in a wooded area, which gives you some privacy. Only downfall for us was distance to the restroom as there’s only one so if you’re in the back of the campground, you gotta walk all the way upfront.

    Waupun Park Campground

Waupun County Park WI - Campground

Family friendly campground, playgrounds, pickle ball court, showers, clean bathrooms, fire rings, shared water spigots & power at camp site. There is an outdoor pavilion for groups, firewood for sale at host. Lamp posts light camp road but not overwhelming. Nice shaded sites with mature white oak trees. Enjoyed and recommend if looking for full service campsite.

    Pride of America Camping Resort

    Local Favorite

We just purchased our fifth wheel last month, and a week after we took our first trip to POA. During that weekend, we booked our next trip for a full week. We loved the sites in the back (800s), amenities and the staff. We definitely plan to be back often!

    Astico County Park

Dark enough to see the Milky Way

The sites are a decent size and well maintained. We easily backed in and leveled our pop up. The shower house is clean. The campground is busy this weekend, but was quite at dark. It was dark enough to see the Milky Way. The toilet is quite a walk, but they are adding more. There is a big playground at the top of the hill. On other trips we’ve enjoyed the swings nearer the river and the artesian wells. The hiking trails are nice and there is a restored rail bridge. We’ve also fished and rented kayaks on previous visits. There is a small cemetery at the top of the hill to explore and learn more about the people in the area.

    Wisconsin Dells KOA

    Did not meet expectations

    DO NOT RENT SITE B25!

We were in B25 for 8 nights. We did not spend a lot of time at the campsite and when we were there it was too hot to be outside. However it smelled. After 5 days I contacted the manager. He tried to write it off as “agriculture smells.” I knew it wasn’t and I couldn’t smell it anywhere else. He visited our site and determined it was the newly (city) installed sewer line behind our camper. He did refund one night stay.

We were in the new part of the campground, the site was level and the full hookups were well placed. Plenty of room and a concrete patio & nice picnic table.

There was only one activity (movie) the 8 days we were there. The staff was less than friendly and there was no trash pickup. Grounds were clean and relatively well maintained. The k9 camps needed poo pick up as some pet owners don’t do it.

Didn’t use the pool area. It seemed small but looked in good shape.
