Stopped for one night but will come back again

We rented a pull thru site for the evening since we came into the Dells for a wedding. The campground offered a variety of activities for kids which was something that would draw us back to the campground again. The sites for RVs are spaced nicely so you don’t feel like you’re right on top of another RV. Good sized sites too. Grounds appeared well taken care of. Staff was very friendly upon arrival. Will definitely come back again. Only draw back is the price, but everything is pricey in the Dells. WiFi is spotty and Verzion cell service isn’t “good” as stated.

Not Teen Family Friendly

I would love to say we'd recommend Fox Hill as we've been here for family reunions for the last 4 years (after my husband growing up coming here). But after experiencing "the owner's mom" yelling at my teen playing at the playground, l'll have to pass and suggest a new family reunion location.

For what it's worth: I was standing chatting with family as my son was on the seesaw. If she disliked him playing on it, there's an appropriate way to speak to: a. Children (who are worthy of respect) b. Customers. Screaming at them and aggressively speaking to the parents is a bad way to run a business.

I was more than willing to overlook the increased prices year over year, the less than great bathrooms, + smoking at the new arcade (which is open randomly at best)..but absolutely unwilling to overlook the way people are treated. Hopefully a discussion is had moving forward so other teens feel welcome to be outside + play amongst their far younger cousins.

I understand your disappointment with the way your family was treated at Fox Hill. It's essential for businesses to maintain respectful communication with their customers. However, the owner's mom might have been concerned about the young kids' play equipment being misused by your teen, which can cause damage to fox hill property or pose safety risks for kids down the road. The seesaw is designed to go up and down for small children. The situation could have been handled better, but she did apologize for how she may have came across. We also apologize. It’s not that she didn’t want to have your kid on the toy, it’s that he was rocking it back and forth off of it against the correct way of using the toy. Any staff or adult that sees something happening to fox hills property should say something to stop the situation. It would have been beneficial if you had a chance to discuss the issue with the owner directly, as open communication can help resolve such concerns. We are sorry to here the bathrooms haven’t been up to speed for you this year as well. Did you voice your opinion to staff? We would like to always here this while you are here to fix any issues. The Fox Den was open everyday of your stay. We do apologize if any smoke entered the building during your stay. Our prices have gone up every year based on what we put into the resort as well as economic situations. Nonetheless, it's essential for any establishment to address customer grievances and create a welcoming environment for everyone. Hopefully, we can take this feedback into consideration for future improvements. On how to handle a situation with our amenities and teens.

Wonderful place to stay

Very family friendly camp ground, lots of activities and fun things for kids to do all over the campground. Staff are all very helpful, and were on top of the one night there were some noise issues. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained, will definitely be coming here again.

Spacious close to water parks

Nice campground with spacious sites. The B sites are shaded and seem larger than the rest. We stayed at site B6, which as far as I could tell is the largest site at fox hill. Their store is very large with just about anything you’d need available, including a generous RV supplies section, and alcohol in cans, along with snacks. Small arcade connected to store, and they deliver ice and firewood. Nice playground and pool, swimming pond too, if that’s your thing. We enjoyed our stay. A few nights that we were there, a youth group stayed, other than that, the weekend days that we were there, were pretty quiet. As we got past Sunday, a few campers filtered out each night, until Thursday when new campers started showing up.

“Cozy” (small and close together)

It’s a nice place. Clean, kept, and organized. There is a decent pool (cold) as well as a swimming pond (dyed blue). Firewood and ice is delivered to your site. The spaces in the first loop are very tight and small, but have shade. The new area will be much nicer as the newly planted trees grow and fill out. Our site was very unlevel side to side. It took two 2x6 and a 1x6 under the camp side to be level. That made the first step into the coach, and last step out of the coach extremely high off the ground. Water pressure was good, no power issues and the sewer connection was clean and accessible. The grass in our space needed mowing, but it looked like that was going to happen right after we left. We stayed during the week and there was a lot of noisy maintenance happening. Backhoes, dump trucks and employee golf carts flying about. At times the golf carts were a hazard the many kids going to and from one of the play areas, saw some hard braking and some serious Mom side eye. For a campground so close to the Wisconsin Dells, it rises well above the crowd of places that aren’t much more than a place to squat your camper while you play at the Dells. We would happily return. We would recommend camping here.

Quiet, wooded lots available

The kids loved the blow ops in the pond. The pool was nice, but a bit colder than the pond. It’s heated with a solar cover. There are well kept large outdoor games like chess, connect 4, and checkers.

There’s a playground with a basketball court and tennis and still plenty of space to play your own game, like frisbee.

The walking trail seemed yo be under construction, but the campground itself allowed for a nice walk. Most of it was wooded, except for section E. They accommodated a move for us to a requested spot as it was during the week.

My youngest grandson and I loved the outdoor shower. The office and store closes early during the week at 5pm.

We’d return here again. The kids enjoyed the amenities and the adults enjoyed the trees.

Good Resort Style Campground

Fox Hill is a good place for RV and cabin camping - they have a pool and pond, shop with ice cream and alcoholic beverages, movie nights, dog runs, and a nature trail that runs along the park perimeter. The bathrooms are cleaned regularly and mostly in working order.

Their tent sites, however, are small and crammed together, with most of them on a downhill slope that allows the water from the water faucet to run across the campsite. We had a hard time finding a level, dry area to put a two person backpacking tent on our site. The park also hosts events in the pavilion that were very loud the weekend we were there.

Overall, I'd recommend it for someone looking for more entertainment and amenities and staying in an RV or cabin, but I wouldn't stay here again in a tent.

Dells and Devils Lake

Been going to this campground for 10 years. It’s under new management and they are making many improvements mostly for the RV sites, new swimming pond and expansion. Nice cabin options and some wooded tent spots. The tent spots are tight but it’s a very family focused campground and mostly quiet at night. Showers are decent tons of stuff for kids. What’s nice is it’s close to all the Dells attractions and also DevilsLake State Park. Behind Ho Chunk Casino. Might be getting too crowded going to try again this year.

Nice campground

Overall the facilities were clean and in good shape. They will deliver wood to your campsite when needed. Some of the campsites are lacking some grass which is the reason I took off 1 star but otherwise a very nice place to camp!

Nice clean campground near the Dells

We stayed in site #4 it was nice sized and quiet. We had full hook up, a picnic table & fire pit, our friends camped next to us in #5. The store had supplies, and firewood they deliver it to your site. There are outside showers & regular showers but always love a good outside shower. It was pretty quiet in the campground.

Close by is the Wisconsin Dells, we did the 2 hour boat tour it was fun. Went to The Village Cafe in Baraboo it's owned by friends of ours who have a place in Florida where we live. Good food & great desserts. We went to the crane foundation that was nice, beautiful birds they are. We went to Devils lake for a day & hiked around the grotto it was beautiful. There is a spot Big Blue herons nest in the tall pines they make a lot of noise. They had babies in their nests.

Nice campground it was a good find.

New sites vs old sites

This is our second stay here as RV campers. We stayed for 3 nights over the Memorial Day weekend, and it was packed with campers. There are 2 main sections of the campground: the new part that is all full hook-up RV sites and the older part which is a mix of W/E and S/W/E. The new section will be a lot better next year, but *just* finished construction and it is still a wide open area. It was dusty and hot because the grass isn't gown in yet, there's still a ton of sand, and no trees. So the new sites currently have little to no shade (see pictures). If you have a big rig and need pull through with full hook up, it may be worth it. We chose to get a smaller campsite with just W/E because there are trees and shade, and it just feels a little more like camping. Also have spots for hanging hammocks, and some sites are positioned well for groups.

Despite the very crowded campground, the bathrooms were immaculate. Even the Men's room was super clean. They have 3 indoor showers in each gender bathroom, and a couple of outdoor shower stalls. The pool was also open, and warm enough to swim in. They also had some fun activities for the kids, but it was a challenge to maintain safe distancing with all of the interested people.

I think this is a great campground for families that want some of the nicer amenities (pool, rental bikes, games, etc) that the nearby state parks are lacking. It's our preferred campground to use as base camp for hiking and exploring nearby. You're only a 10 min drive from the Dells, but you have the fee of an up north campground. The owners are super helpful and nice. Once the  new area fills in with grass and some shade trees, this place will be 5 stars in my book. Did I mention there are 2 dog play areas? Really well kept and a wonderful touch.

Good mix of rv and nature

We visited for opening weekend during COVID-19, so the park was quiet but open. The staff and owners here were very friendly and extremely helpful when we ran into some snags with setting up camp. We were able to check in online and drive right to our campsite, to get our enjoyment started right away. Our spot, F-2, was right across from the playground and great for my kiddo. Only neighbors to the sides and woods behind. This park has some nature trails, disc golf, and a good size dog run. It’s well kept and maintained. All site are pretty level with gravel pad and logically positioned utilities. The tent loop is more remote, but not a far walk from the park and pool. Pool wasn’t open yet this early in season. We enjoyed our peaceful stay and even booked for Memorial Day weekend as other campgrounds are closed and cancelling reservations. We are happy to have our social distanced camping experience and we’re very happy with Fox Hill. Can’t wait to come back when summer is in full swing! Compared to other campgrounds in the Dells, the price is reasonable for full hookups. It’s also really close to Devils Lake and Mirror State Park, so a perfect spot to have excellent hiking opportunities nearby and be able to quickly access all the yahoo craziness of the Dells area if you need an Olde Time Photo or a water skiing show. If you golf, there’s a 9 hole course next door that is easy to walk to.
