Chris' Campground

Iron Creek Lake is located in an untouched area of the pristine Black Hills west of scenic Spearfish Canyon. While it is off the beaten tourism path, a trip to the lake is just a 20-minute excursion south of Spearfish on a well-maintained gravel road. The lake was created through a WPA project to create jobs in the mid 1930s and to provide a recreation site in Lawrence County. The trail circling the lake is just about one mile in length, making the lake small enough to prohibit wakes and high-speed watercraft. The atmosphere is quiet and oriented towards families.

Iron Creek Lake offers tent and RV camping with some electrical hookups available. The cost is $17 per night for a tent site for up to 4 people in the same immediate family, $5 extra per person above four. Campers/RVs cost $20 per site for up to 4 family members plus $5 extra per person above four. Electricity is $5 more per night, is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and may require extension cords depending on the site. Dogs are welcome but also cost $5 extra per dog per night in the campground. Dogs must be leashed at all times and are not permitted on the beach or in the swimming area. Some sites can also be rented on a monthly basis for a special rate.

The twelve rustic cabins available for rent at Iron Creek Lake have more character than the typical campground cabins.

Roubaix Lake is a small lake located northwest of Rapid City and South of Deadwood, just west of US Highway 385. The lake provides opportunities for swimming, fishing and ice skating. Roubaix Lake Campground is open year-round.

Stocked with towels, linens and even cookware for the kitchen, each cabin also has a full bathroom. We have what you are looking for.  Perhaps, a wedding destination, family reunion, small company retreat or a destination for relaxing while enjoying our mountain streams and quiet peaceful settings under our 80 foot spruce trees.
It is here you can also come for hunting, ATV riding, rock climbing above and below us, mountain biking, fishing, riding the Mickelson Trail, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse or historic Lead Deadwood to name some of our Black Hills offerings. 

We are the destination without the cost of a ticket for every ride you have while with us. 

We are located central to the Northern Black Hills at the top of Spearfish Canyon 10 minutes west of Lead Deadwood on Highway 85.  Wickiup has the monopoly on Spearfish Creek.  Long gone are the cabin camps that once provided memories for children to older folks never to be forgotten.  Warm summer days of tubing, fishing, panning for those gold flakes or just skipping rocks.

Big Rig RV Park Campground is one of the oldest campgrounds for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Big Rig RV Park Campground is located in Sturgis, South Dakota and we are open exclusively for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. The campground is perched on top of a hill and has spectacular views the Sturgis and the Black Hills area. We are just two miles from the legendary Sturgis Main Street with very easy access to I-90, Boulder Canyon, Vanocker Canyon, and other Black Hills attractions.

We have a variety of lot campsites especially lots with spectacular views of the beautiful Black Hills. Our campsites feature full service hook-ups including water, sewer, 30/50 amp electricity, and WIFI that actually works. Our campsites have a gravel surface and are nearly perfectly level with little or no blocking required. We have two campgrounds, the original North site launched in 2000, and the South site constructed in 2015. Both sites include a very clean men’s and women’s shower-house.

The official dates for the 2023 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally are Friday, August 4th thru Sunday, August 13th, 2023. However, many of our guests arrive early or come in later in order to avoid the crowds. We are open from Friday, July 28th thru Sunday, August 13th. We have 8 different schedules to accommodate your travel plans. Please come stay with us to enjoy the 2023 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Wild Bill's Campground

The Mount Rushmore State is home to seven National Park Service sites that range from jewel-encrusted caves to ancient fossil beds. Black Hills National Forest in the western side of the state covers an additional 1.2 million acres that spill over the border into Wyoming and hold the highest peak east of the Rockies. At about 71,000 acres, nearby Custer State Park is one of the largest state parks in the country and home to an annual buffalo roundup that offers a true taste of the American West. The Black Hills, often referred to as the “island in the prairie,” is a perfect spot to start your South Dakota camping trip!


Travelers looking to lounge lakeside will be pleased with the many camping options available near the region’s 17 lakes. With stunning rock formations reaching out from the water, Sylvan Lake is one of the area’s most iconic places to take a dip and do some South Dakota camping. Nearby, Horsethief Lake is tucked into the surrounding ponderosa pines, yet only two miles away from the ultimate road trip stop, Mount Rushmore National Memorial. Those looking to pick up some speed can head north to Pactola Lake for a day of water skiing and a night of s’mores.


Prefer solitude? Strap on your backpack and hike the state’s 111-mile Centennial Trail, which provides a north to south taste of the Black Hills through prairie grasslands, dense forests, and high country terrain. Check with the different land management agencies along the way for specifics on where backcountry camping is allowed or where to find established campgrounds. Rather bike? The 109-mile George S. Mickelson Trail runs parallel to the Centennial Trail and is a rails-to-trails, car-free dream.

Elkhorn Ridge RV Resort & Cabins

This is an owned lot that is available for rent on a limited basis for small campers and RV's. This lot is perfect for a safe place to overnight park. Pets welcome but must be on leash and cleaned up after. This lot is on a gravel packed road, directly off the highway. You do have to back up, so smaller rigs are a better fit. Total of 7 people welcome with each reservation. Class C RV's that are the size of a grey hound bus not going to work due to having to back into lot and maneuvering. If you have a large 5th wheel this may not be the lot for you If you do not have good backing skills. 50/30/20 Amp service. No Water. No Sewer. You will be on your own and being quiet is a must. No trailers with ATV's. One RV or camper is allowed per reservation.



Safe Overnight on Ginty Ct in Lead SD 

Setting up your own campsite away from developed fee sites, also known as dispersed camping, is allowed on most of the Forest for a maximum of 14 days in any 60-day period. However, around developed reservoirs and campgrounds, camping is allowed only in designated areas. Check with the closest Forest Service office for specific information.

General rules:

Camp 100 feet away from any creek or stream and 1/2 mile away from developed recreation sites, including campgrounds and picnic areas.
Motorized vehicles allowed 300 feet off of roads as shown on the Motor Vehicle Use Map (dots) for dispersed camping on the Black Hills National Forest. 
Around developed reservoirs and campgrounds, camping is allowed only in designated campsites.
Can camp for a maximum of 14 days in any 60-day period. 
No open campfires in South Dakota portions of the national forest.
Open campfires are permitted in Wyoming portions of the national forest, unless a special order prohibiting such is in effect. 

Mt. Roosevelt Dispersed Camping

Whitetail Creek Resort (property once know as Whitetail Court Resort) is a smaller property with several different types of accommodations to include RV site, camping cabins, yurts, cabins, and motel rooms. All the accommodation options line up along Whitetail Creek, just 5 miles from Deadwood and 2 miles from the town of Lead. We have 2 approved fire pit locations with wood supplied. Whitetail Creek Resort also offers two 4-man barrel steam saunas, and a 25'x30' beam-framed creek-side pavilion with 2 big screen TVs, octagon picnic tables, gas fire pit, and an "on-demand" bar. Next to the pavilion is a large wood fire pit that can accommodate around 12 people. Our yurt camping area (3 yurts) is located across the creek. It has its own private fire pit. Whitetail Creek Resort is located on ATV/Snowmobile trail 5W and 1/3 mile from the Mickelson Trail (hiking/biking/horse-back riding).
