Spearfish City Campground

Fishing, hiking, and biking give campers plenty to do at Spearfish City Campground, which sits along a creek that runs directly beside several of the sites. Tent sites are unnumbered, with campers pulling in next to a picnic table along the water. Full hookups accommodate RVs up to 45 feet, and clean showers plus a dishwashing sink are on-site. Sites run close together, which is typical for a city campground. Weekends and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally period bring heavier crowds, so early booking is advisable. The campground is within walking distance of downtown shops, and day trips to Deadwood, Sturgis, and Spearfish Canyon are all feasible from here. Those exploring camping near Spearfish will also find the nearby Spearfish KOA camp as an alternative if this location fills up.

Peaceful

Great location Creek runs through the campground $52 for full hookups and 42 for primitive. Did both and was very happy. Easy drive to deadwood Sturgis, nice bike trails and walking paths that lead outside the campground to the recreation area. Fish hatchery and park just outside the campground. 1 hour from devils tower.

Shady campground by a creek

After visiting Badlands National Park, we decided to check out this campground. It’s great! The tent sites aren’t numbered, you just pull in by a picnic table, along a creek. Good price, clean showers and a sink for dishwashing. There is also a large area for RV’s on the other side of the park road. It is just a few blocks to the shops in town.

Delightful oasis in city

I have liked this campground so much that I keep putting off my departure. It is the perfect spot for day trips to Sturgis and Deadwood, the spearfish canyon and even Mt Rushmore. It does get crowded on weekends and around the motorcycle rally in Sturgis. Perfect for people with children. Good bike paths, famous fish hatchery and short drive to movie theater and Safeway

Nice city camping

Full hookup, lots of things to do around the campground and in the area. Bike rentals nearby. Really pretty creek running right along some of the sites. A good place to stop with amenities to regroup and clean up. The only reason I give it a four is because of the site size and how close proximity they are to each other. But I know that’s pretty standard for a city campground of this type.
