KOA Deadwood Saved the Day!

Our initially reserved campground nearby was sketchy, so we called KOA Deadwood at 4:30 hoping for a last minute reservation (even though the app said they were full). Dana, the host, set us up with their last available site and was super kind allowing us to pay upon arrival since our cell phone signal was bad. We were immediately impressed by the grounds which included a trolley to downtown Deadwood, a wandering donkey, and the cleanest private bathrooms. Would highly recommend anyone looking to stay in the Black Hills area stay here!

Cozzy getaway

We have stayed at this location twice (have gotten the same cabin actually) when Deadwood is having events. Only downside to this is that on the upper level it’s more for smaller vehicles if your staying in a cabin. When you get big vehicles it’s a bit harder to maneuver around. My husband and I both have very large vehicles and we have to either park all the way at the end of the cabins or back in as close to the cabin as we can so that other vehicles are able to get out. We have been told we can request cabins, I think that we may do this next time. The cabin we stayed in does have an amazing view and I absolutely love that about it. The hosts are very nice and the bathrooms are very clean.

Nice place to camp

Overall it was a good experience. It's a pretty small campground down the road from deadwood. You can take the bus into deadwood.

Clean and convenient

Nice little KOA. The trolley to townruns on the hour, it cost $1. Best deal in town. Fun little pool for the kids.

Good spot

We actually stayed in a cabin on this night as we were very tired from our travels and just wanted to enjoy the town. It was very neat, clean and family friendly.

tents are tight

there are very tiny spots cut out for all but one tent site (50.) we had to park in front of the area to set up our tiny two person tent. however, there is a trolley to deadwood and it’s only $1 so it saves tremendously on hotel fees.
