Campgrounds surrounding Bradner, Ohio range from full-service RV sites to primitive tent camping areas within a 25-mile radius, making it one of the more varied camping regions in northwest Ohio. The Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA provides wooded sites for tent campers, RV travelers, and cabin renters, while Maumee Bay State Park Campground offers year-round access with options including glamping accommodations. Most developed campgrounds in the region feature electric hookups, with several providing full water and sewer connections for extended stays. White Star Park Campground, located in Gibsonburg, represents one of the highly-rated mixed-use campgrounds supporting both tent and RV camping.

Seasonal considerations affect campground operations throughout the region, with several facilities closing between mid-October and mid-April. "This campground is a little out of the way, but well worth it. Very clean, spacious, well kept up sites," noted one visitor about White Star Park. Reservations are recommended for weekend stays during summer months when campgrounds typically reach capacity. Most developed sites provide drinking water, picnic tables, and fire rings, though several turnpike service plazas like Blue Heron and Wyandot offer more basic overnight parking with electric hookups primarily intended for travelers needing a safe stopover. Weather conditions can impact camping experience significantly, with spring bringing occasional heavy rainfall that affects site conditions at campgrounds with limited gravel surfaces.

Campers consistently mention the wooded settings of several campgrounds as a primary attraction. The region's mixed forest environment provides natural shade at most developed sites, particularly at Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA where mature trees create a secluded feel despite relatively close site spacing. As one camper observed, "A wooded campground that fit our 40 foot with tow nicely. All sites are level, gravel, and shaded." Family-friendly amenities appear frequently in visitor reviews, with several campgrounds offering playgrounds, swimming pools, and organized activities during peak season. Proximity to water features represents another highlight for campers seeking recreation opportunities, with East Harbor State Park Campground providing access to Lake Erie shoreline approximately 40 miles north of Bradner. Travelers report varying experiences with site privacy, with some mentioning close quarters at KOA locations while others appreciate the spaciousness of state park camping areas.

      Maumee Bay State Park Campground

We camped in September 2026, site 51. Our pad was pretty level and long for us with a short camper. The fire ring was permanently in the ground, which is nice so that people don’t move it around. It was a short walk to the shower house, which was really nice and clean good showers. And we happen to be there during one of their fall fest weekends and they had all kinds of activities for kids to do which was really nice. They have a little trails that go in between some of the campgrounds and around one of the little ponds. Check-in was super easy and there is a dump station as well. What’s nice about a lot of these sites is that there is some kind of trees or big bushes that separates you from your neighbor.

      Great State Park Campground

I spent one night passing through the area after visiting Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The hedges separating the campsites provides some privacy and it was a quiet location.

The park’s beach on Lake Erie is nearby. While hidden by the landscaping, the bathhouse was conveniently located and the path well lit without detracting from the camping experience at the campsite.

      Deshler Crossroads Park

      Camping right near the Tracks

Deshler, OH offers a campground in Crossroads Park, famous for 4 sets of train tracks and the ability to see trains from all over. This campground is best suited for train enthusiasts, because you are with 10-20 feet of the tracks. There is a grassy field for tent8ng and parking spots near the pavilion for RV's. It is not big right friendly. Max trailer size should be about 20'. There is a porta potty on-site as well as electrical outlets and a covered pavilion with picnic tables. Gas and convenience stores nearby. Suggested donation is $20/night.

      Twin Acres Campground

Great place for our quick overnight

We were greeted by a very friendly staff and had very little trouble finding our spot. Park has several mobile homes and long-term campers, but that did not detract from our experience. Our pull through was nice and level. Would stop in again if we're ever back this way.

      Adventure Bound Pleasant View

      Decent/not as advertised

Our stay was in an RV Sept 2026.  I had specifically requested and paid extra for a spot on the fishing pond to fish.  Not only was there a lot of long-term campers at this resort, but the fishing pond was covered in duck weed over 3/4 of the water where my site was at, and on the day we left it was 100% covered with duck week.  The duck week invasion was not mentioned to me when I called and made the reservation to be on the water.  In fairness, I will say I caught some fish at the clear end of the pond before it was 100% covered.

The park itself was clean, quiet and decent.  The staff were very nice. The Aqua fun zones water is not clear blue as advertised, it is murky, the 9 hole mini golf is outdated and should be called mini-mini golf as it is very small.   The swimming pool and playground were as advertised.  I cannot answer to the other amenities as I did not see or utilize them.

In conclusion, this campground could benefit greatly from some updating especially of the amenities as they are not what the pictures portray.

      East Harbor State Park Campground

      Beautiful quiet park

Although it was a full house it was pretty peaceful and quiet at night. The beaches and picnic areas down by the water are great! Saturdays are busy.

      East Harbor State Park Campground

      Clean, adequate state park

We came when there had been a lot of rain, the original site we had reserved had a lot of standing water and mud and a big drop off the paved area, so we asked if we could switch. For a $6 change fee we were able to move. They do have some full hookup sites, but those are hard to come by. It is a huge campgeound and the sites are all very close to one another. The bathrooms were clean, I didn't use the showers, but they looked clean. They had a small, simple laundry facility that worked as needed. The hiking in the park wasn't too exciting. There is a disk golf course wr checked out, but it was pretty rainy off and on during our stay so we didn't play. Biking within the Park was good, with some well laid out paths. Overall nothing too exciting, but very adequate for what we needed to explore a little of what Lake Erie has to offer.

      Camp Sandusky

Bed bug infested! Poorly managed. This place has gone down hill!

We had to leave in the middle of the night due to a bed bug infestation. We let staff know we were putting our belongings out side and would come back in the morning. When we came back in the morning the owner would not issue a refund and instead insulted us. The whole situation was so unbelievably weird. I wish I would've read through all the reviews before booking. This seems to be an ongoing issue with them and the owner couldnt be less bothered. People like him are the reason Ohio bed bug issue will remain a problem! What we thought was going to be relaxed getaway turned out to be a very expensive nightmare. The craziest part of it all is this happend Friday evening/ Saturday morning and as of Monday he is already trying to rent that same cabin out to another family on camping sites. Don't go to Camp Sandusky. Its not worth it. I hope this helps someone!

Campgrounds near Bradner, Ohio span across rolling plains with elevations averaging 650-720 feet above sea level. What to do

Fishing opportunities: Maumee Bay State Park Campground offers multiple fishing locations across its property. "The most well kept, private, beautiful campground I've been to so far. We were truly amazed at the park, the HUGE beach on lake Erie, the inland Beach, the 2-mile boardwalk through the wetlands, the Big Hill, and the nature center," notes one visitor. The park maintains several bass ponds accessible from camping areas.

Scuba diving access: White Star Park Campground sits directly across from a lake popular with divers. "We stopped for overnight on our travels and found a neat community campground across from a park with a lake. It was filled with families and scuba divers on the weekend," reports one camper. The quarry lake maintains visibility conditions suitable for beginner and intermediate divers throughout summer months.

Cross-country skiing: Winter visitors can access groomed trails at Van Buren State Park Campground when snow conditions permit. "I came cross country skiing here in early January and it was absolutely amazing. It is cold but the terrain is simple for first time skiers," explains one winter visitor. The park typically maintains 3-4 miles of suitable terrain for winter sports from December through February.

    What campers like

Privacy between sites: Many campers appreciate the natural separation between camping spots at Maumee Bay State Park. "The most well-kept, private, beautiful campground I've been to so far. I've been a camper my whole life but a year ago the wife and I purchased a new camper with the goal of seeing a new campground each time we camped. This campground was recommended by a co-worker for how private each site is," comments a visitor. The campground's layout utilizes shrubs and trees for natural screening.

Spotless facilities: Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA maintains consistently clean amenities. "Bathroom clean. Friendly people," notes one guest. Another adds, "The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean." The campground provides updated individual bathroom units rather than communal facilities.

Level camping spots: Campers consistently mention the quality of site preparation at local campgrounds. At Toledo East-Stony Ridge KOA, one camper observed, "All sites are level, gravel, and shaded." This eliminates the need for extensive leveling equipment, particularly beneficial for tent campers using air mattresses or cots.

    What you should know

Limited shower facilities: Some campgrounds maintain minimal shower infrastructure despite their size. One camper at Maumee Bay State Park noted, "Each bathhouse only has two shower stalls, which may necessitate a wait when the campground is full." Similar conditions exist at several area campgrounds, making weekday stays preferable for those prioritizing shower access.
