Welcome to Cumberland MD. We have 2 campgrounds in close proximity to each other. Campground # 1 is called THE HILLCREST RIVER CAMPGROUND. CAMPGROUND # 2 is called THE CANAL TUNNEL RIVER CAMPGROUND. They are only 3 miles from each other. Book either location and enjoy both. The campground’s offer camping for RVs and Tents. They are only 1 mile from Canal Place in downtown Cumberland MD. And 5 miles from the Rocky Gap Casino and Resort. They offer Hiking and Cycling on the C and O CANAL NATION PARK , THE GREAT ALLEGHENY PASSAGE and THE KNOBLEY MOUNTAIN TUNNEL TRAIL. They both have Non-isolated, isolated and Super isolated campsites. Firewood, boating, fishing, Swimming, hiking and Cycling is available at both locations.

Campground #1 THE HILLCREST RIVER CAMPGROUND is located at 10410B Cumberland MD. 21502. It is by Tractor World 1/10 mile off of I 68 Exit 45, 2 miles from the National Trails. There are 60 campsites here. Full hookups are available on Five (5) sites for $10.00 EXTRA PER NIGHT. If you want HOOKUPS PLEASE LET THE HOST KNOW. HOOKUPS MUST BE PAID FOR WHEN YOU ARRIVE!! We have a Dump station, A flush toilet and A Hot shower HERE. That is Available in season. There is a unique Pond with a Dock and Canopy. Sorry Fishing is NOT allowed. There are many hiking trails. Be sure to visit the the CLIFF OVERLOOK on one of the trails. There is a Convenient store that is open 24/7.

CAMPGROUND # 2. THE CANAL TUNNEL RIVER CAMPGROUND is located at 1 Elizabeth St. Cumberland MD. 21502. It is on 40 acres off of The Canal Parkway. There are 50 campsites. This campground is along THE NORTH BRANCH OF THE POTOMAC RIVER and the C and O NATIONAL PARK and THE KNOBLEY MOUNTAIN TUNNEL TRAIL. There Is over 1 mile of River frontage and 2 River Islands. There are NO HOOKUPS and Showers here. Portable toilet are available in season. Generators are welcome. This location offers a 5 Bedroom, 4 Bathroom House for short term rental. Hillcrest River & Canal Tunnel River Campgrounds

## Overview

The Fifteen Mile Creek Campground is located at Mile 140 on the C&O Canal Towpath, in the town of Little Orleans upstream of Hancock and downstream of Paw Paw, WV, on the Maryland side of the of the Potomac River. The campsites are drive-in, large enough to park a small fifth wheel/travel trailer/RV/pop-out with a 20' ft. maximum.

## Recreation

The most popular activity for Fifteen Mile Creek campers is boating and fishing. The campground has a boat ramp for easy access to the Potomac River for kayakers and fisherman alike. Be sure to acquire a Maryland Fishing License for those age 16 or older.

## Facilities

The campground has nine single drive-in campsites. There is one group site available that does not have direct vehicle access. The group site can accommodate 30 people. Each single will accommodate up to eight people. Single campsites have a picnic table, fire ring and grill. Protected pit toilets are located between campsite #3 and campsite #4 along the dead end circle. Potable hand pump water is available from April 15 - October 31. No motor vehicle traffic is allowed on the towpath. Parking is allowed in the drive-in campsites and the adjacent parking lot for vehicles with trailers and support vehicles for the group site.

## Natural Features

Fifteen Mile Creek Campground is adjacent to the confluence of Fifteen Mile Creek and the Potomac River on the Maryland side. Tucked in the mountains of Western Maryland and adjacent to Green Ridge State Forest, natural beauty is plentiful all times of the year, but especially during autumn. 

## Nearby Attractions

Greenridge State Forest and Billmeyer Wildlife Management Area are state managed areas available for additional activities. This area is remote.

• Individual Campsites: A customer who cancels a reservation the day before or on the day of arrival will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee (not to exceed the total paid for the original reservation). Cancellations for a one-night reservation will forfeit the entire amount paid and will not be subject to an additional service fee.

• Group Facility: Customers who cancel a group overnight facility reservation less than 14 days before the arrival date will pay a $10.00 service fee AND forfeit the first night's use fee.

• Group Day Use Area: Customers who cancel a group day-use facility reservation less than 14 days before the arrival date will forfeit the total day-use fee.

Fifteen Mile Creek Campsite

## Overview

The Antietam Creek Campground is located at Mile 69.4 on the C&O; Canal Towpath, a few miles south of Shepherdstown on the Maryland side of the Potomac River. The campsites are nestled in the woods between the Canal and the Potomac River and they are a short distance from many recreational opportunities. Fishing, boating and hiking are but a few possibilities while staying at Antietam Creek Campground.

## Recreation

Popular activities at Antietam Creek include boating and fishing. Kayaking the creek and surrounding areas during various times of the year are scenic and ever changing. Nearby boat ramps at Dargan Bend and Snyders Landing provide motor boat access to the river. Fishing is also a popular pastime in both the watered sections of the C&O; Canal the Potomac River. Be sure to acquire a Maryland Fishing License for those age 16 or older. West Virginia Licenses are approved for fishing in the Potomac only.

## Facilities

The campground has 20 single campsites each with a picnic table, fire ring and grill. Each campsite will accommodate up to eight campers. Protected pit toilets are located between campsite #6 and campsite #7 adjacent to the towpath. A second set of chemical toilets are available down the towpath. Potable water is along the towpath at pumps (may not be available during cold winter months). No vehicular traffic is allowed on the towpath and access to the campsites is by foot only. Parking is allowed on the shoulder of Canal Rd only.

## Natural Features

Antietam Creek Campground is just south of Sharpsburg, MD. Antietam Creek is a typically mild and slow moving creek which feeds into the much larger and faster Potomac River directly adjacent to the campsite. River rise and floods can modify conditions quickly here. 

## Nearby Attractions

Antietam Battlefield, South Mountain Recreation Area and Harpers Ferry National Historical Park all provide additional hiking and history adventures specifically about the Civil War Era.

Antietam Creek Campsite

Ridge Rider Campground is located on 222 acres of beautiful woodlands in the Upper Potomac River valley in Western Maryland and provides a total camping experience. There is always something to see and do regardless of the season! The tent and RV campsites are spaciously located within the forest area for your nature enjoyment. Each site has a fire ring and a picnic table and each RV site has electric, water, and sewer. Full-service cabins are also available for rental.

Need wide-open space to unwind while enjoying some locally crafted wine and beer? We've got you! Our farm has 30 private acres of open fields, rolling terrain, wooded areas, and a running stream for wading and exploring. We are a scenic and easy 10 min drive from I-70 New Market, MD. Hang out with family and friends at your private campsite or enjoy music and libations at one of the many local wineries/breweries- most have weekend music festivals and food trucks during spring, summer, and fall months. Located in walking distance(1 mile) to Linganore Winery and Red Shedman Brewery, we are centrally located to eight other wineries and breweries that are an easy ten minute drive through scenic Frederick County farmland. Hiking more your thing? The Appalachian Trail is a mere 30 min drive and the historic C&O Canal(great for biking, jogging, hiking, and horseback riding) is a 30 min drive as well. Kayaking, tubing, rafting, and horseback riding are available in historic Harper's Ferry(35 mins) too. While there, you can check out the local shops, the C&O canal, hiking trails, and a self-guided tour of John Brown's Raid. There are plenty of local creameries(working dairy farms selling homemade ice cream, cheeses, and more) and farmer's markets for fresh farm to table fruits, veggies, and meats. Fine dining, history, and quaint antique stores more your thing? We've got you there too! Historic Mount Airy(10 mins) has lots of specialty shops and some farm to table restaurants, New Market(10 mins) has a plethora of quaint antiques stores, and Frederick(20 mins) has lots and lots of speciality shops and farm to table restaurants. Assateague Island, famed for its wild horses, lies off the Delmarva Peninsula on the Atlantic Coast. This barrier island is a constantly shifting ribbon of sand, altered daily by powerful wind and waves. The Assateague Island National Seashore, Assateague State Park, and the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge each manage and protect this unique, diverse strip of land. Recreation Activities are abundant on the island, with crabbing and clamming, and a long stretch of beach for swimming, kayaking and fishing. Facilities Assateague camping is open year-round. Advance reservations are available up to 6 months in advance during the following dates: Oceanside Group Sites : Year-round. Equestrian Non-electric sites : From October 16 through April 15 each year (closed April 16 - October 15). Oceanside and Bayside Individual sites : From March 15, 2019 through November 15 each year (walk-up only, November 16 - March 14). Amenities include vault toilets, drinking water, and unheated showers for rinsing off sand. Water is available when temperatures are above freezing. The island can be accessed from the northern route in Maryland or the southern route in Virginia, but there is no through road from one end of the island to the other. Access to both Maryland and Virginia entrances are reached by bridge over mainland routes. Natural Features Assateague is a 37-mile long barrier island on the Atlantic Coast of Maryland and Virginia. The terrain is a mix of sand dunes, maritime forests and salt marshes, and is just a couple miles wide at its broadest section. Two herds of wild horses inhabit the island. The Maryland herd roams freely in part of Assateague Island National Seashore. The Virginia herd roams in large fenced areas in the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. The horses are descendants of late 17th century horses brought by colonists attempting to avoid livestock taxes. They now thrive among other wildlife including sika deer, ghost crabs and migrating birds like the great blue heron and snowy egret. Nearby Attractions Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge offers a 14,000-acre wildlife preserve located at the southern end of Assateague Island. Sinepuxent District Ranger Station/Campground Office

Rocky Gap State Park is located in Western Maryland’s Allegany County. The park encompasses over 3,000 acres of public land for visitors to enjoy. Rugged mountains surround the park. The 243-acre Lake Habeeb is known for having the "bluest water in the state." The lake is fed by Rocky Gap Run, which winds its way through an impressive mile-long gorge, displaying sheer cliffs, overlooks and a hemlock forest dense with rhododendron and mountain laurel. Overlooking the lake is Evitts Mountain, named for one of the first European settlers in Allegany County.

Rocky Gap Campground offers 278 individual campsites (including 30 equipped with 30 amp electric hook-ups, mini cabin and yurt Options), a family group site and two youth group camping areas. The campground also features a dump station, bathhouses with hot water in each loop, the Scales & Tales Aviary, canoe/kayak/SUP board rentals (Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day), a nature center, a private swimming beach, a playground, trail access, Snack Shack and a camp store. Pets are allowed in Camp Loops Ash, Birch, Chestnut, Dogwood and Elm (Sites 1- 143). Alcohol is only permitted inside personal motor homes. Check-in for campsites is 3 p.m. and check-out is 1 p.m.

The family group site offers space for up to 40 people to camp together. The group site includes a two-story mini cabin with electric, as well as six 30 amp electric hookups and a group fire ring. Bathhouses are located in the adjacent camp loops.

There are 15 mini cabins located throughout the campground. They sleep either four or six people. The yurt accommodates 8 people and has an adjoining camp pad to increase the total site capacity to 15 people. Each has electricity (no water) and beds. Users must provide their own linens. Air conditioning and heat are not available. Check-in for mini cabins and the yurt is 3 p.m. and check-out is 12 p.m.

Easter Hill Chalet
Exterior of the Easter Hill ChaletThe Easter Hill Chalet accommodates up to eight people. A completely furnished kitchen, three bedrooms, three bathrooms, wrap-around deck, gas fireplaces, outdoor campfire area and grill make this an enjoyable vacation spot. Chalet guests must provide their own linens, towels, bedding, pillows and soaps. The chalet is located in a forested, private area of the park, overlooking the lake. The Chalet requires a 2-night minimum stay. Memorial Day weekend and Labor Day weekend require a 3-night holiday stay (Friday/Saturday/Sunday). Check-in is 3 p.m. and check-out is 10 a.m. The address for the Chalet is 13300 Pleasant Valley Road, Flintstone MD 21530. Reservations are available April-December.
