Nice campground

The campground is adjacent to a very large, very busy train yard. It’s not bothered me but you should be aware.

The campground is also right on the Potomac, easy to get to, reasonably priced, and the sites are spacious. The loops are small, each containing a dozen or fewer spaces. Many sites share a power pole and water faucet, but they are well situated.

There is a small camp store, but the campground is convenient to ample grocery stores, convenience stores, and restaurants as well as many local historic attractions.

Next to the river, train tracks, and C&O

Great campground as long as you select the correct site as that is incredibly important. I’m sure in peak season or holidays it can be very busy and then you’d be very tight to your neighbor especially in the A loop. Sites on the ends are by far larger than the center.

No Wi-Fi signal

Camp ground is nice and I have 2 bars on my cell service, but I specifically chose this camp ground for Wi-Fi signal and there is none. Apparently the only Wi-Fi signal is a small one in a shack. Would not recommend if you rely on Wi-Fi to stream and for tv

Great but only a few things I noticed

Overall great camp ground only thing I noticed is at some of the RV sites the hook ups are in crazy spots some are In the neighboring sites area so you have to drag extensions around them. Also the pool and dog park isn’t on site you have to leave to go to it.

Trashy and Run Down

We stayed in a Potomac river view site with water and electric hookups for our 17' Jayco hybrid. The river view was nice, but we were packed in with our neighbors like sardines and no shade. The road into the campground was badly in need of repair. Site was not level and infested with black flies. Restrooms were beyond disgusting, dumpsters overflowing and dump station was muddy. To add insult to injury, they charged $60 per weeknight and sold us wet wood for $8. This could be a beautiful place with some upgrades and maintenance.

First Trip with RV

This was our first trip with our RV and it was a great experience. The staff is extremely nice and helpful with everything (especially Petey)! Our spot was on the river with a short walk to the boat ramp and access. It was very quiet, serene, & clean. Dog-friendly (seemed like everyone had a dog) and downtown was a short bike ride away. Would definitely camp here again.

2nd trip

This was my second time to Brunswick Family Campground within two weeks. This campground is so quaint and carefree you almost forget the outside world. The Shanandoah is just as beautiful. The showers could use a good cleaning but they are typical Campground showers perfect for the campground life. The little store has just the necessities and there is an amazing playground for the kids. I would absolutely recommend this campground for families or just a couple wanting to get away.

Small but charming

I found this campground to be very nice it’s a small family owned campground. The store is very small and it’s in a travel trailer so there’s not much selection there is ice and firewood for sale. What is amazing is that 100 yards from here campsite may be a little more for further out but the Shanandoah river parallels the campground. The river is beautifully clean clear and cool. There wasn’t much late night going on it seemed all the campers for the most part we’re turned in by 11. That was a nice time to go out on a bike and explore the campground a little more if you’re up to nighttime activities. I would highly recommend this campground for it simplicity and beauty that surrounds it. Oh yeah the CNO railroad runs pretty close it’s not super loud just wanted to make you aware.

Great Family Spot

Great location right next the river. Easy to walk into the river or tube down it. Lots of different activities for kids and plenty of space at each site to make your home away from home.

Along the Wide Potomac

We rented the one of the cabins, "Onward," here at Brunswick Family Campground.

Pros:

  • Great Potomac river views
  • Weather-proof cabin with comfy bunks
  • Friendly fellow campers
  • C and O Canal towpath cuts right through to allow for some great walks
  • Close to Harpers Ferry and tubing
  • Close to the Monocacy River (great for kayaking!)

Cons:

  • The cabin was TINY. Essentially four beds (two bunks) and some space between them to move around. Essentially a shed with bunkbeds in it.
  • Cabin was kind of expensive for what it was
  • Older, just-clean-enough bathhouse (quite a walk from our cabin)
  • Brunswick train station and depot is just a few hundred feet away and you can hear trains at all times of the night
  • Really bright fluorescent light post outside our cabin
  • Close sites to neighbors

Secluded and very friendly

Picked this location because it is close to our home in Silver Spring, MD but far enough to make us feel like we were leaving town. Campgrounds are tucked between railroad tracks and the river at the end of a road. Once on the campground land, the river is mesmerizing and campground staff is welcoming and helpful with any of your needs. There is a store open all day, with all essentials. Situated next to the river so half of the sites have river views. Nice boat loading ramp and dock for fishing. Half the campground are shaded with trees and half are in more of an open field. Also situated on the C&O canal, so you could walk or bike for miles in either direction for hours! Harpers Ferry is only 6 miles away on the trail. Will go back there as much as time allows!
