One of My Favorite Spots

Lily Bay is a well-maintained state park that sees a lot of traffic through the year, but has sites that can make you feel isolated. I love to go in the summer when Moosehead is at its warmest. If you're into adventuring, it's a short drive up to Kokadjo and the Golden Road, where you can look for…

Beautiful Spot (beware the trash)

Located along the far west end of Attean Pond, this campsite is a lovely place to spend the evening or even a few evenings. There is a large beach with beautiful views of the pond that makes launching and landing boats easy. It can get rather windy here and depending on the direction, can also make…

2 out of 5 because of human impact

This is a large site that sits on the eastern side of Holeb Pond, at one end of the canoe portage between Attean and Holeb Ponds on the Moose Bow Loop. This is a conveniently located spot, however, it is very impacted and often full of trash(human and otherwise). It really is an amazing location…

A peek at heaven!

How to describe what a slice of heaven looks like? The setting is just spectacular, beautiful beyond words! The owners, Whitney and Norman, are just is amazing. They aren't just the owners, but everything they do shows how much they love this very special place and are so aware that they are great…

Phenomenal Fall Conditions

Amazing clear water lake. 3 to 1 moose to human ratio, and abundant nearly tame birds and furry creatures. Haunting loon calls in the evening. Simple yet well maintained sites and facilities with responsive staff and relaxed, respectful neighbor campers. Sweet kayaking.

Off grid camping

Just a few sites they have fire rigs and tables. There is a boat launch there. Outhouses. Nothing special but it is the area you are there for. A sportsman's playground. Road into it is about 12 miles of rough unpaved road. First come first serve.

Back again and just as good

Back for the second year in a row. Weather was amazing, sun sets were unmatched and fishing was on point. Again bring what you need with you as this campground is well out of the way.

Great camping experince

I rented a cabin at this campground. The cabin was a little dated, but clean and a relaxing environment. They had a small store and the access to Moosehead Lake was excellent. If you like remote camping this a great place to go and explore the area around the campground. The other lakes and streams…

On the shores of GORGEOUS Moosehead Lake!

This gorgeous state park along the shores of Moosehead Lake near Greenville feels like the campgrounds of my youth. Sites are all tucked into the woods with easy access to trails and the lakeshore. Each site offers the usual picnic table and fire ring.

Well-kept latrines are scattered…

  • It's fall....y'all!
  • Many sites are on the lake and accessible for launching kayaks.
  • They keep the shower house very clean, but they are a bit of a hike from the campsites.
