Clean, well-managed with friendly rangers- decent showers

Lamoine State Park represents the way most Maine state parks should operate. Way ahead of both Camden Hills and Cobscook with regard to cleanliness and upkeep. Showers were surprisingly good and often cleaned.

There are two non-reservable sites right on the Bay--- do try for one of those when you check in…just in case.

The public dock is an interesting spot to watch in the evening as boats are unloaded.

One more thing-- bring your charcoal for the grills along the Bayfront.

RV's seem to be up higher on the hill while tents prevail lower down.

46 & 48 seem like good sites. Many sites are not level. Some also are grass covered rather than gravel so you might inquire if it is important to avoid a grassy site.

Hidden gem

Great state park campground with it's own beach area and water access. Was able to book a stay when other campgrounds were full. No electric or water hookups but nice sites and bathhouse was adequate.

Great Campsite

We really like the campground and the campsite. The campsite had plenty of tree cover. It was close to the rest room and was easy to drive in and out. It close enough for us to go into Acadia on a daily basis.

Great beach to explore!

If Acadia is full... this state park is a great alternative! My favorite part is the beach!! And 30 mins from Acadia. The sites are ok. A lot on a hill... so level tent camping isn’t the best but mostly private sites. Quick walk to a beautiful beach with lots of rocks and shells to comb through! Sunset was epic!

First four pix are campground beach rest are near by Acadia area.

Clean and exceptionally well-maintainef

This was an extraordinary find! Their reservation system was straightforward, many +diverse campsites-- some with ocean view, others with real privacy. A bit off the beaten path, so the drive back from Acadia was long and winding, late at night.

Beautiful sites, great people

I stayed several nights here with my dog, in a gorgeous site right by the water.  Fellow campers were friendly and it was nice and quiet.  Great location - a short drive to Acadia without the crowds.

There's a day use area with a boat launch.  Loved hearing the water on the shore at night, and the fishing boats heading out in the morning.

I didn't use the facilities, but they looked nice enough.  My dog and I took a couple walks around the campground and all of the sites look decent - good size and not right on top of each other.

I'd happily stay again!

Nice tent sites

Great place to camp outside the crazy tourist packed Acadia but only a 25 minute drive to the park. Very nice sites, flush toilets and showers. I got a lake view site but also forested sites available. Pet friendly camping. Would definitely go back!

Nice park outside of Acadia

Nice campsites. Clean bathrooms. Wood available on site. Treehouse is fun! Nice hikes around the water. Great place to camp close to Acadia and Bar Harbor.

Lovely sites; great location.

Another awesome state park in Maine! We loved the location; so easy to get to Acadia National Park but well out of the fray. We had site 42: not right on the Frenchman Bay (a gorgeous thing!) but we could see it. Foggy mornings felt almost like rain -- but it usually burned off by 10am. Be sure to visit Seal Cove Farm nearby for their delicious goat cheese pizza/specialties and cool environment and, of course, trek around Acadia -- as amazing as is promised.

Bathrooms, showers and scullery sinks were kept super clean (we're usually rustic campground campers, so these were quite the bonus!), and Christine, the ranger who checked us in, was really friendly and helpful for area tips and suggestions. Loved our experience here.

Great State park

The bathrooms and showers are cleaned regularly and the price for camping is great. There is a playground on the way to the ocean view!

A Hidden Gem

This place is great. A hidden gem for a trip to Acadia. Nice facilities and water views and a helpful staff who moved us to a nicer site just because it was open. The only downfall is that it soesnt show up in searches right away
