Great campground near great fishing

I've camped here several times (June, July, August, September, and October) over the last couple years--usually at no-hookup sites. Most of the sites get enough sun to keep batteries charged and most of the sites are free of Starlink obstructions. I usually stay there mid-week and it's very quiet.

It's an easy drive to some of the best trout fishing in Maine and New Hampshire.

The grounds and facilities are extremely well maintained. The staff is great, and I've met some fabulous people camping there.

It's Maine so the blackflies and mosquitoes can be a challenge early in the season. And toward the end of the season, you'll want a vacuum cleaner to deal with the Asian lady beetles that have invaded all of northern New England.

Serene riverside beauty

We booked a no-hookup site by the river for a week long stay with our travel trailer. The grounds were extremely well kept and the showers and main restrooms were the cleanest I have seen. Our site was in an open grassy area that was visible from the road with great views of the river. Though the site was open, the camp sites are spaced far enough apart that we still felt that we were camping privately. The river is clean with a solid though slightly rocky bottom and a moderate current that is suited for wading if that is your thing and excellent for tubing. Fly fishing only is permitted is you obtain the permit. ATT and Verizon both provided cell phone service at our site but data service was not useful on either. The campground does have drinking water and a dump station on site as well as sites with power hookups. Firewood was available for the going rate and each site had a firepit and grate which we found to be very clean and well kept. The host was very friendly and accommodating to us and was able to drop us off upriver so we could drift downstream to our campsite on our tubes. Overall this campground provided an amazing experience that we would not hesitate to repeat.

Wilderness at it's best

We've stayed here twice. It's a very well maintained rustic campground on the Magalloway river. Some of the best brook trout and landlocked salmon fishing nearby. Great place for canoe or kayak trips. Make sure you are well provisioned before arriving, there are no supplies nearby.

Nice folks and super reasonable price

This campground is just north of Errol, NH along the Magalloway River. The sites and facilities are well maintained and quite clean. The owners and staff are quite nice and really do a great job managing the campground. There are nice shaded sites along the river as well as a number of sites in a wide open field. Be sure to ask about the amount of shade (or lack there of) when you make your reservation. While being in the field in a climate controlled RV may not be a big deal, being in the sun from sunrise to sunset can be rough as a tent camper.

Sites have picnic tables, fire rings and are nicely spaced from one another. There is a bath house that is clean and a nice amenity, especially for the reasonable rate of $15/night for tent campers (almost unheard of at many private campgrounds).

You can put your boat in upstream of the campground and paddle to the area or you can drive. We paddled from just upstream and continued on the following day. There are several grassy spots where you can slide your boat onto shore.
