Secluded but windy

Nice spots around a pretty lake. I got there around 7 pm and there were only a couple trucks there for fishing, but more people pulled in later on. It seemed like each spot had their own picnic table and fire pit. You were far enough away from any neighbors that you had enough privacy. I stayed…

Large park offering a variety of sites

This state park has two sections: the north shore (Bluffton) which has a large campground and is more developed and the south shore (Page Creek) area. This review is for Bluffton which has five loops, and each has different plusses and minuses. Broken down by loop:

• Butterfield has a bath/shower…

Sooth the soul

Quintessential plains of Kansas. Pure beauty as far as the eye can see. Blue water. Generously spaced and well maintained sites, though a lot of them have limited shade. Not an issue in April. Beautiful views with brilliant sunsets over the water. In early April, there were only a handful of…

Nice place

The Water sports CG was very clean. Nice pull thru lots & very close to activities in Dodge City. I am not sure we're the water sports were but we were there to see Outlaws!

Great little getaway

Growing up in southwest Kansas it is difficult to take a quick weekend trip anywhere close. Horsethief sure changed that. A quick hour drive from Garden City and you can be on the water or setting up your camper. Spots can fill up quick so be sure you call ahead. However, there are plenty of…

Slow Draw

Nice gated campground, not to quiet, busy highway right there. Great for an overnight stay, too pricey for anything more than that!

Private Tent Sites

First time in Kansas, had a quick one night stop during our road trip. This was a gorgeous lake tucked not far from the highway. The tent only sites were totally empty and we were the only ones in the loop. Gorgeous view, just up the bank from a small beach. Self check in was easy and the bathrooms…

Simple but satisfactory

This was a perfectly fine campground. Very clean, well maintained. It is Kansas, so it’s very open, you wouldn’t have a lot of privacy if it was busier, although there are lots of short trees around the little lake. There is a bathroom, there’s water, a fire ring, and a picnic table. Easy to…

Noisy

As with many campgrounds in Kansas, this state fishing lake boasts camping without charge. There are five designated primitive tent spots with fire rings and tables. No RV spots, no electric, and no water. Two spots are at the entrance near the vault toilet and three spots are caddy corner on the…

Good overnight stop

Older park but well maintained. WiFi is slow. Cell service is good. Site spacing is excellent. The pool was clean. Sites near entrance may be an issue with highway noise and an active railroad nearby.

Large sites with lots to do

Large concrete pads! Behind our site and a bunch others is a large grassy area perfect for kids to play. Within walking distance is a super affordable water park, free zoo, playground, and Boot Hill Museum.

Great spot, and folks

Really close to town. Really friendly staff!!! (Sadly Mrs Kitty and Marshall Dillion didn’t show). Comfortable and quiet. Highly recommended.
