    J.W. Wells State Park Campground

    Parking lot by the lake

Stayed for 5 nights. The third party computerized reservation system gave our site to someone else. Fortunately, we were put into a first-come first-served campsite right on the water which is a major upgrade. All of the sites (except for a few paved handicapped sites) are grass. Perimeter sites can be muddy. Interior sites can have enough slope that the trailer A-frame is on the ground in order to level. Electricity is reliable. Restrooms are immaculate. Showers are nice. Dump station with fresh water is clean and works well (2 bay).

My main complaint is a common, almost universal complain - people are right on top of one another. We have a truck camper 6 feet from our screen room with its AC on high and a very "fun" family sitting right outside our trailer on the other side. The "infield" is much worse - seems like each site has multiple vehicles and space is so tight that they are stacking kayaks. Family groups with clustered sites. Seems like a kennel as well with dogs everywhere. On the plus side: very little music being played, people were respectful, dogs well behaved for the most part without unattended barking dogs, people stayed quiet in off hours. The park itself is small with no biking trails or significant hiking trails. Not a lot of birdlife. They do have a nice beach which is a draw for families. We enjoyed our stay overall. We would return only if we had a waterfront site for a max of 3-4 nights. Off season would be better than summer.

    Best bathrooms/showers!

My family and I camped for 6 days and 5 nights here and it was great! They are well-known for having the cleanest bathrooms/showers in the area and their bathrooms did not disappoint! They are air conditioned with individual, private stalls and hot water! I often met an employee doing a quick wipe down during the early morning and the evening hours but they shut down the bathroom for 2 hours a day for deep cleaning. Amazing! Our campsite was close to the campground office/store which was very convenient. They also have a game room with a pool table to keep the teenagers entertained. It was such a great experience! We will definitely be back!

    Love Love Love

My family and I have been coming here for years!!!!! The campground is big and beautiful! Every campsite has a picnic table and fire pit; the Yurts and cabins have chairs. The Yurts, cabins, and bathrooms are clean! The staff is friendly! It is pet friendly. It is located near the water and has many trails to hike! Love this place, especially in October with the leaves changing and the festivals around town!!!!!

    Beantown Campground

    Location was great

This was our first time in Door County. At the time of my booking, we knew a lot of people that had visited, but not in an RV so I was on my own looking. I will list the good before the bad and hopefully you will understand why the rating was given. The campground is in a great location as far as we we’re concerned. It is just outside of downtown Bailey’s Harbor, one of the many picturesque and quaint towns in Door County. From there you can go up or down the peninsula. The owner and staff were helpful and friendly enough but I have had a lot more friendlier greetings. The campground is fairly well maintained with clean bathrooms/showers. The stalls are small and some have hooks, some don’t. None have benches, a couple have a plastic lawn chair. Minor issue really but one of my pet peeves. The pool is of decent size and was heated, a big plus for this far north. Our site was incredibly level. I have only found cement sites that require less effort to level your rig. Now the bad parts. The office provided minimal information, had very few supplies beyond candy bars and t-shirts. They did have adapters to convert 30 amp to 50 amp plugs. There was minimal shade in our part of the campground and insufficient space to erect a screen house. They also seem to wait a little long to cut the grass. Our neighbors moved all their stuff off the grass before we arrived and after the previous guest had left in hopes that the lawn would be mowed. Didn’t happen. We were fortunate to have a small tree that did provide a little shade but also stopped us from putting up the screen house there. We could have still erected it but then our neighbors would be left with no room (more on this later). The cable provided no better channel selection than your antenna nor better reception. The WiFi was weak and our T-Mobile service was horrible (not the campgrounds fault) The worse part of the campground was for daily rental sites. They faced each other and were about 12-15 feet apart in the front and about 10 foot or less on your utilities side. This would be great for camping with friends or family. Not so much when you are given a randomly chosen neighbor. We were lucky, our camping neighbors were great people and we enjoyed the time we spent with them. See the photo for a better idea of how close we were. It was less of an issue on this trip because we were here to see the sites. The RV was our home base and we didn’t spend a lot time there. If we come back, it will be a different campground.

    Tranquil Timbers

    NOT PET FRIENDLY

Tranquil Timbers advertises pet friendly but they ARE NOT pet friendly. If your dog makes any kind of noise whatsoever, they are NOT welcome. Motorcycles and noisy kids however, park approved!

Diamond Lake Family Campground and Trout Farm

    Family Oriented, Family Operated

My friends and I love camping here because of the huge wooded sites, quiet family environment, and excellent service provided by Jen, Joe and their whole family. As a privately owned campground, they take their rules and security seriously to make sure their campground is safe, clean, fun, and quiet (during quiet hours). If you're looking for the party campground, this isn't it. If you're looking for lake fun (no boats) during the day and relaxing by the fire at night, this place is a must.

    Wagon Trail Campground

    Best Campground Ever

This is probably the nicest, most well run campground we have ever stayed at. The staff is friendly and welcoming, they are pet friendly, and their sites are spacious and private - unlike so many other campgrounds we visit.

While staying here, you’re a short walk to a great bakery and restaurant. Additionally, you can bring your gear and hike the trails just 5 minutes away at the state park.

Rates are very reasonable and the bathrooms are the best we’ve seen at any campground.

This place can’t get much better...
