Beautiful area, sites are situated with the terrain which can make them interesting to get into. They're gravel and mostly level. Good wifi which is purchased separately. Full hook ups and friendly staff.

Sandstone Ridge Campground — Mirror Lake State Park

    Lush Oasis

We stopped here while driving to Michigan. It’s super lush. The water and dump station was super clean. Firewood is available. The lake was not very clear and had a lot of plants growing, but it was still nice to take a dip. Extremely large spaces made the rv parking easy EXCEPT that the electrical receptacle was very far in the back of the camping spot. We had to back all the way in to make the chord reach. I don’t think the RV spots would make very nice places to tent camp.

Also want to add that there was plenty of privacy between the spaces.

Northern Lights Campground — Devils Lake State Park

    3 Day Weekend Paradise!

Due to the popularity of the park we had to have 2 different sites during our time there - but this was not an issue as they were very close together and moving was a breeze! All sites have a picnic table, fire ring, and flat space for your tent - there are also electrical sites for RV hookups.

There is so much to do at this park! From the crystal clear waters of the lake itself to the hikes along the rock overlooks, you won’t be bored! There are kayaks and canoes and paddle boats to rent at the lake along with a little shop/restaurant that makes the area feel like a mini National Park! Some of the trails connect to the Ice Age Trail that runs throughout WI. Make sure you get to Balanced Rock!

We had such a great time, we’ve already planned a second trip for this summer!

    Christmas Mountain Village Campground

Christmas in Summer but I think I will skip the WInter.

This is a member resort but they do allow the public in.  We went in as Coast to Coast members.  This is an all season resort it does have a ski hill and accommodations for winter.  You can buy a condo resort, Lease a Time Share, buy a camping site ( with a Park Model on it,  Camp in a Motor Home, Trailer or Tent.  You can camp with full hook ups or as they call it the Wilderness Camping, they have some with 110 hook ups.

Facilities are very nice and clean, Swimming Pool, Club House with a lot of things to do. The sites are nice and big most are either pull through or large back in sites.  They also have an 18 holes golf course, since we don't golf really don't know how it is.

They have some WIFi but it is best at the club house the hotspots worked better.

If you would like to  visit Wisconsin Dells this is a great place as it is not very far from downtown and all the activities.  We spent 2 days exploring the Dells even in rain.  Had a great time.

If you are in the area I would check it out.

    Sky High Camping Resort

    Resort camping in the clouds

Took a tour of Sky Haven on a whim. Talk about full service camping! They have everything here- tent sites, RV sites, cabins, nightly, weekly, and long term rates. Frisbee golf, mini golf, a "mining" site, go carts, game room, showers, laundry. It was pretty overwhelming as I don't camp this way. But for a family gathering or reunion, or a big trip, this could be just right for you. Rates were reasonable for all the services you get. I liked the views since the place is up on top of a "mountain".  The staff was really friendly and welcoming and answered every silly question of mine with a smile. Not my camping jam, but definitely nice.

Pine View Campground - Fort McCoy

    Wonderful 3 days

First time out with the new RV. We called to made  the reservation by phone and was taken care of very nicely. We were told to go straight to our site and setup and they will check on us later. By morning there was a marker on the pole. The beach was clean nicely set up, the office was very helpful with put put golf and peddle bikes, etc... The sites were paved and level. Nicely wooded and made it easy to setup a hammock as well. The site had full hook ups. We did have an alarm every morning with the sound of bugle three or fore time through out the day and evening. It was a wonderful time and we plan on going back.

    Green Lake Campground

    Great little Campground

Our site was S10 which has its pros and cons it is a full hook-up site this section of the campground is fairly new so there is a few in mature trees so there is not much for shade as we walked around the campground we found some full hookup sites that would be great in the wooded area so there would be plenty of shade and it's next to the swimming pond. The 9-hole golf course was nice I just wish I would have remembered my clubs. Like most campgrounds on the weekends it's full during the weekdays pretty well emptied out we arrived on Thursday we had the adult pool to ourselves which is great. The only thing I notice is if you have kids it's too bad they didn't have more things for the kids to climb on in the pond I have a few kayaks and paddle boards. We did enjoy the campground and we will be planning to return

Friendly staff for family RV camping

We stayed in later April, so it was a limited experience. But the staff was very friendly and the campground is across from a lake. This is mainly a rv campground and not private or secluded. For a family with a camper, there are full hookups or water and electricity with flat gravel pads. Sites are close together but do have big pine trees for shade. Boats are allowed for easy access at the public boat launch. Really the highlight for this campground is the staff. They have a decent menu at their grill with fried chicken and fish, and will deliver to your site. Everyone was very friendly, and the summer events look fun. There are 2 sets of bathrooms, two playgrounds, and rental for fun bikes for the kids. Does have water and a dump for rvs.

    McMullen County Park

Large sites with play ares for families

Given our experience was on a hot and humid day, I would rate this as 3. However I’m trying to be impartial so I’m putting our temperature discomfort aside and giving it 4. The campsites are large and reasonably priced for an overnight stay.

Campsites are large- some big enough for multiple campers. Most sites have water and electric. Plenty of tall trees around for shade. The sites don't have vegetation between them but they are big enough to give you some room. Restrooms are spread around with one being a shower house.

The lake has boat access. Some kayaks were available to rent. Short hiking trails can be found(with such a large place we were hoping for longer hikes. Playground equipment was getting consistent use today.

Most sites have nobody in them - perhaps during the week is a slow time. There are some sites for long term camping that are clearly designated.

The drive through the touristy area had me guessing as to what this would be like. If simple camping is not your thing, there are a couple of resort type places right down the road.

    Smokey Hollow Campground

    Party resort camping

This is a private “resort” type campground with something for everyone, except peace and quiet and privacy. This is a mostly RV campground with a handful of tent sites wedged in almost as an afterthought. I stopped in and talked with the campground personnel for a while before getting a tour of grounds. There are several loops with lots of long term campers/RVers. There were some cute cabins and even yurts. Behind the office was a large pond with a sand beach, lots of blow up pool toys, a bar, and volleyball, plus there are trikes and bikes available after you play mini-golf. There was an extensive calendar of events for the campers to enjoy including a chili cook-off and activities just for the kiddos (including a water ballon filling station!). This is the place to go if you are looking for a party type campground. Be careful when you arrive and drive to your site as kids are running around and riding their bikes everywhere! The campground has several bath houses scattered between the loops and all were kept very clean.

    Very nice

This campground was very nice right on the lake. Very well kept and clean. Is plenty of room for any size rig. Dollar General very close. ATV friendly. It had 30 amp and 50 amp And water. $25 per night. $350 per month with full hook-ups. All the roads in the park were paved. Bathroom and showers available, very clean and private. Boat ramps and docs are there Along with free kayaks for the campers. 2 pavilions for large families and get togethers. I would definitely go back to this campground.

    Oakdale KOA

    Right on the highway

It’s early in the season so the campground is mostly empty, but this KOA is a convenient stop off the highway for local adventures at the nearby state parks or Elroy Sparta bike trail. The basic amenities are good- level sites, fire pit, a tree, nice store, playground, and a pool in warmer weather. It’s more of a place to park your camper than a destination. The campground is right off the highway, so we can see and hear trucks through the night. But they have some nice perks, like goats and chickens on site. The staff let the kids pet the goats and chickens, and loaned us discs to play disc golf. They have one practice basket in the back. There is a small but very nice playground, bathrooms and showers, and laundry facilities. So I would recommend staying here if you want to visit nearby parks and want the convenience of full hookup spots. Great for an easy pull off the highway on your way to more exciting locations. Since most things are closed due to Covid-19, I can’t comment on nearby activities. A clean and convenient location with very nice owners and staff. We would stay again if passing through.

Fox Hill RV Park & Campground

    New sites vs old sites

This is our second stay here as RV campers. We stayed for 3 nights over the Memorial Day weekend, and it was packed with campers. There are 2 main sections of the campground: the new part that is all full hook-up RV sites and the older part which is a mix of W/E and S/W/E. The new section will be a lot better next year, but *just* finished construction and it is still a wide open area. It was dusty and hot because the grass isn't gown in yet, there's still a ton of sand, and no trees. So the new sites currently have little to no shade (see pictures). If you have a big rig and need pull through with full hook up, it may be worth it. We chose to get a smaller campsite with just W/E because there are trees and shade, and it just feels a little more like camping. Also have spots for hanging hammocks, and some sites are positioned well for groups.

Despite the very crowded campground, the bathrooms were immaculate. Even the Men's room was super clean. They have 3 indoor showers in each gender bathroom, and a couple of outdoor shower stalls. The pool was also open, and warm enough to swim in. They also had some fun activities for the kids, but it was a challenge to maintain safe distancing with all of the interested people.

I think this is a great campground for families that want some of the nicer amenities (pool, rental bikes, games, etc) that the nearby state parks are lacking. It's our preferred campground to use as base camp for hiking and exploring nearby. You're only a 10 min drive from the Dells, but you have the fee of an up north campground. The owners are super helpful and nice. Once the  new area fills in with grass and some shade trees, this place will be 5 stars in my book. Did I mention there are 2 dog play areas? Really well kept and a wonderful touch.

Nice clean campground near the Dells

We stayed in site #4 it was nice sized and quiet. We had full hook up, a picnic table & fire pit, our friends camped next to us in #5. The store had supplies, and firewood they deliver it to your site. There are outside showers & regular showers but always love a good outside shower. It was pretty quiet in the campground.

Close by is the Wisconsin Dells, we did the 2 hour boat tour it was fun. Went to The Village Cafe in Baraboo it's owned by friends of ours who have a place in Florida where we live. Good food & great desserts. We went to the crane foundation that was nice, beautiful birds they are. We went to Devils lake for a day & hiked around the grotto it was beautiful. There is a spot Big Blue herons nest in the tall pines they make a lot of noise. They had babies in their nests.

Nice campground it was a good find.

Quartzite Campground — Devils Lake State Park

Devils Lake is a great family getaway!

There is something for everyone at Devils Lake State Park. It is the largest State Park in Wisconsin and is full of hiking trails, canoeing and kayaking on the lake, and large open spaces for the kids to run and play.

If you forget your canoe, don't worry, you can rent one. Don't feel like cooking, no problem, there is plenty of food at the beach.

The family campground is pretty wide open and more conducive to camper trailers, but there are plenty of spots for tents. The bathrooms and showers are clean, and everything is nearby.

The group campsites are awesome, they are on the edge of the park and in the woods. They are very nice. The group campsites even have a modern shower house. Most State parks put there group campsites in the worst part of the campground and they never have showers. In other parks you are lucky to have a pit toilet. Not at Devils Lake, it is the exact opposite. This is a great place for a boy scout troop or youth group camping trip.

This is my favorite park in Wisconsin.

Quartzite Campground — Devils Lake State Park

    Cold but beautiful

Great, large campground conducive for both tent and trailer/RV camping. Different campsites have different amenities although each spot has a fire pit and picnic table. Only gave it four stars because the bathrooms weren’t open and we had to go off-site to get water. I don’t think they’d warmed up their pumps from the winter yet!

    Hattie Sherwood Park

    Nice campground

We went here for labor day a couple years back. It was a nice clean campground. It doesn't have a full-time attendant. Self register upon arriving. The morning time the park manager comes through and checks in, cleans the bathrooms etc. Its close to the city if you forget something (I mean we all forget something at some point). Across the street is a swimming area. Little beach and floating dock. Has a small fishing area by the boat launch. Pretty weedy and the dock is shared with people coming in or out with their boat. Smaller fish perfect for younger kids. You can fish further down by the bridge as well. Sites seemed to all be decent size. Plenty of 5th wheels or camper trailers. (At the time we had a tent). We did have some loud neighbors from Illinois. They partied until 2 or 3 in the morning. We talked to the park manager in the morning and he was very helpful. He apologized and talked to the group. We didnt have any other issues the rest of the weekend. Running water and showers at the bathrooms. They were cleaned every morning and then checked on at night. Scenery was great, you could walk across the street and watch the sunrise over green lake. We will definitely stop here again.

    Buckhorn State Park Campground

    Little Bit Better Than Average

This park has a lot to offer.

    Pros:

    - Most of the sites were relatively large. We had 3 tents and 2 cars on our site and it wasn't a problem.

    - The lake/beach access is a nice bonus.

    - Newer shower house and bathrooms, as well as vault toilets

    - Decent trails.

    - No apparent highway noise.

    Cons:

    - Despite the large campsites, it felt very "car campery" to me.  The sites I observed didn't have much in the way of tree canopy, so it feels very open.

    - Lots of campground noise and not secluded.

So, despite Buckhorn being well-appointed, it just wasn't really the campground for me.  I prefer a more rustic and woodsy atmosphere and this was not it.  I think it is likely better suited for campers/trailers than tents.

    Bonanza Campground

    Everything you need!!!

My wife and kids had just purchased our first RV and were looking to celebrate my daughters birthday in the Dells. Now we could have spent a small fortune staying in one of the resorts, but we thought RV’ing would have been more fun. Bonanza is located within walking distance of Olympus Waterpark as well as Noah’s Ark and multiple other attractions. There is a clean pool, mini golf and a front office that is willing help out with wood or ice even when closed. The staff were very accommodating as they assisted us with changing our site due to space. The play ground is located center of the park with laundry and showers close by. They offer full hookup, partial hookup, cabins and rustic camping. I highly recommend and will for sure be coming back.

Fox Hill RV Park & Campground

Stopped for one night but will come back again

We rented a pull thru site for the evening since we came into the Dells for a wedding. The campground offered a variety of activities for kids which was something that would draw us back to the campground again. The sites for RVs are spaced nicely so you don’t feel like you’re right on top of another RV. Good sized sites too. Grounds appeared well taken care of. Staff was very friendly upon arrival. Will definitely come back again. Only draw back is the price, but everything is pricey in the Dells. WiFi is spotty and Verzion cell service isn’t “good” as stated.
