Situated about a mile and a half down a side road off one of the main routes into town, the Wisconsin Dells KOA sits far enough from the strip that freight train noise, not traffic, is the main sound campers report at night. Trains pass a few times a day along tracks adjacent to the campground, and sites near the main road entrance also catch some rumble. Elsewhere on the property, nights tend to run quiet. The campground is forested, and tent sites are shaded across the board, each with electric hookups and access to shared water.
Cleanliness comes up more than any other topic in reviews. Bathhouses draw consistent praise, with one reviewer noting the showers each have "separate entrance doors," a layout that provides more privacy than standard KOA facilities. Some bath houses include full toilet, sink, and shower setups in one building; others keep restrooms and showers in separate structures. Sites vary in size, and campers with larger rigs should note that some spaces are tight. RVs up to 65 feet are accommodated, with full electric, water, and sewer hookups available, and many sites have concrete pads. Staff escort guests to back-in sites and help guide the maneuver, which reviewers with large rigs appreciate.
The campground runs a range of kid-oriented amenities: a heated pool with splash pad, playground, basketball and volleyball courts, a game room, and a camp store with laundry. Activities are scheduled daily, though the lineup varies and at least one extended-stay visitor found the programming thin during a slower stretch. Ice and firewood can be delivered to sites. Dishwashing stations are positioned around the grounds.
Reservations are accepted and recommended, particularly for summer visits when campgrounds near Wisconsin Dells fill quickly around the area's water parks. Full hookup sites have run around $73 per night, though pricing varies by site type and season. Campers who want more space or a quieter base might consider nearby alternatives like Rocky Arbor State Park Campground or Stand Rock Campground. This KOA works best for families using it as a hub for Wisconsin Dells attractions, particularly those with RVs who want full hookups and on-site amenities within easy reach of the water parks.
