Sherwood Forest Campgrounds

Sherwood Forest Campgrounds sits in downtown Wisconsin Dells, placing RV and tent campers within walking distance of the area's main attractions. The campground accommodates RVs up to 50 feet with full hookups including electric, water, and sewer connections, though Christopher M. notes "power set up is bad, 1 box for 4 campsites." Sites are closely spaced with limited privacy between neighbors, according to multiple reviews.

The facility includes amenities that appeal to families, such as a pool, splash pad, jump pad, and game room. However, the shower system requires users to continuously press buttons for water flow, and some reviewers found the bathrooms in need of updates. Charles M. appreciated that "the bathroom and showers were very clean and comfortable" during his visit, though experiences vary by season and maintenance cycles.

The campground's location makes it a practical base for exploring the Wisconsin Dells area. Campers can walk to downtown attractions without needing to drive. For those considering other places to camp around Wisconsin Dells, Rocky Arbor State Park Campground offers a different experience less than a mile away. The on-site gift shop stocks items like tiki fire logs, and staff members receive consistent praise for friendliness across reviews.

Many visitors reported friendly staff and good family amenities like pools and game areas. However, several guests noted concerns about site conditions, utility setups, and facility maintenance that detract from the experience.

Too expensive and rundown

We chose this campground because it was right in town and are not towing a vehicle. The location is in town but we chose to button up our RV and go places rather than stay here.

When at the park, we stayed inside our camper. (Mind you, it was super humid). Showers and bathrooms need ti be updated and cleaned.

The park itself is not worth the price. There are gorgeous state parks within minutes for half the price. Plus some really nice hikes.

Boy Scout Trip

We spent the weekend at Sherwood Forest to take advantage of the close proximity to Wisconsin Dells. It was late June when we visited these camping grounds.

I’m not a big fan of the commercial campsites but they had everything the kids wanted; pool, game room, gift shop, General store. The kids loved the area and the opportunity to hang out with each other at the game room. And we still got to practice some Scoutcraft.

The campsites we’re small for our purposes. As a parent, the opportunity to use showers over the very hot weekend was a game changer for me. I’d visit here again especially if we were going to visit the WI Dells. The bathroom and showers were very clean and comfortable.

The campsites were very close to each other, they offered no real privacy from each other. That may be a problem for certain campers. We were sort of desperate.

Rundown

We stayed 2 nights in a PT. The first site they had us in was a back in right behind the office, but the ground was so uneven (sloped up) we bottomed out and still couldn't reach our utilities. We upgraded to a pull through in the back of the park. Everything was just run down, and the playground was all broken... luckily we don't have human children. The fire rings have been moved around and there are several burn spots across the campsites. We had fun in the Dells, but will try to find somewhere else to stay next time. Don't miss the tiki fire logs for sale in the gift shop; they are AWESOME!

Great place to bring kids

We stayed 4 days and the kids had a blast at the pool, splash pad and on the jump pad. Great location and friendly staff. only dislike I had was with the showers . you have to keep pushing the button to get water to spray.
