In the woods, but with all of the amenities!

You are in the woods, but with all of the amenities! The location is in the middle of everything. We stayed in July 2023 and would definitely return. Cell service was good, and their clubhouse area was cute.

Baily's Woods Campground

Had a great time there. Located close to a lot of attractions. The site were big and level. Lots of trees. Plenty of firewood in stock, and 15 dollars per wheelbarrow full. Bathrooms were clean. A couple of the toilet stalls were tight, narrow. We usually go to state campgrounds, but it was a great place an the rates were good. Recommend

Hidden Gem in Door County

We normally stick to state parks because we like secluded, wooded sites, but this trip was a bit of a last minute decision and all the state parks were booked. Took a chance on this place and we were very pleasantly surprised! For a private campground, the sites were large and wooded, overall the campground was clean and quiet. Not a far drive from the state parks and other door county attractions Would highly recommend staying here.

Closest thing to staying in a state park you’ll find.

Closest thing to staying in a state park you’ll find. Heavily wooded, shady and quiet. Many tent/ rustic sites. Up a steep hill, so some sites have partial views. Not the best for big rigs. Not specifically family oriented, but there is a nice playground. Clean bathrooms& showers. Firewood comes in wheelbarrows, and it and ice are on the honor system 24/7. Very friendly and helpful owners with good advice on what to see and do in the area.

Peaceful and quiet

General: Baileys Woods lives up to its name – it is a very wooded campground, which provides reasonable separation between the sites. I was surprised that it was not full during the week in June, which made it even more quiet and peaceful. When we reserved, we paid for one night and then paid the balance just prior to arrival. We were greeted warmly and given a map of the campground. There is a 5mph speed limit posted throughout and many speed bumps to enforce this. My only concern is that they were not marked and blended into the road and while this should not be a concern if you are driving the 5mph, they did occasionally trip me up while walking (especially at night) or if you are crazy like me, running laps around the campground.

Site Quality/Facilities: Gravel pads that are all level; most are back-in, but a few are pull-through. You will hear road noise at some of the sites on the perimeter, but it was minimal. Our site in the interior was very quiet with the sound of birds chirping the only noise we could hear. There is a small picnic table and fire ring at each site. Some sites are electric only; some water and electric and some are tent sites.

Bathhouse: There are two bathhouses at either end of the campground, and both were very clean. Both have showers and one has laundry. Nice hot water and hubby reported the water pressure was good in his, but I found it a little wimpy in the women’s shower. There are also two porta-potties, one for women and men; they are cleaned weekly on Monday and were clean when we were there (at least the women’s was).

Activities/Amenities: There is a nice playground. Showers and laundry available. Firewood and ice are available on the honor system – you pay when you leave but since we were there for a nearby family reunion, we did not use either of these amenities. As for activities, not much to do at the campground but there is so much to do in Door County from hiking and kayaking to wine tasting and shopping.

When we lived in the area, we used to take day trips here in all seasons and now we enjoy visiting all our favorite haunts when we are back in the area on a road trip. Baileys Woods (on the quiet side of Door) was a nice base place to do this from. The only things keeping this from a five-star review are the unmarked speed bumps and the incredibly thin toilet paper which basically disintegrated in my hands (we are used to this in state and national parks but hoped for better quality in a private campground).

Most interesting campground I’ve visited

This campground is basically some guys backyard. That being said it’s a sweet back yard. Literally every site is wooded and he sells firewood for a reasonable price. My only complaint is the bath houses. They were clean but very dated and clearly not made for a 6’4 gentleman such as myself. Owner is very friendly, laidback, and easy to talk to. If we return to Door County we will most definitely stay here again.

Our 1st pick for Door County Camping! Quiet and Close to Everything!

We absolutely love this campground and it is our first pick when it comes to staying in Door County. It is in the middle of the Door Peninsula and just minutes from anything that you would be interested in doing, including catching amazing sunrises from downtown Bailey's Harbor (Just a short 1.2 mile walk away)! Main road in front of campground is not busy and its very easy to run or walk on without really having to worry about cars.

The campground itself is small (.6 miles of roads if you walk every road in the campground), but the spaces are large with decent space between sites. The entire campground is in the woods, so each site is completely wooded. All roads and campsites are gravel, there is very little grass. If you are looking for grass to play on, they do have a large mowed area in along the road that is perfect. There is also a small playground for kids. Our children have a lot of fun on the playground and just running around our campsite. We don't need a pool, because there is an amazing public beach 5 minutes away in Bailey's Harbor. Other than the playground and very small camp store, there are no other amenities in the campground, but you don't really miss them because there is so much to do around Door County.

There are tent only sites, pull through sites, and sites that will accommodate popup campers up to large pull behind campers. Seasonal sites are interspersed throughout the campground. All seasonal campers that we have met are very friendly. There are two bathroom buildings that have showers, one at the front of the campground and one at the back (which also houses 1 washer and 1 dryer). Bathrooms and showers have always been very clean. There are also porta potties by the tent only camping sites. There are also charging stations by the porta potties, since the tent only sites do not have electricity. Tents are allowed on electric only and water and electric sites. Owners are very accommodating and will allow you to put a camper and tent on the same site also. If needed, there are also sites which allow you to hook up to the septic system or you can drain your tank when you leave.

Campground is dog friendly if your dog is on leash. They do sell firewood for $15 per wheelbarrow full (you fill, so you can get your money's worth on firewood if you stack it right). They do also allow you to bring in your own firewood. Owners allow campers to put charges for firewood and things bought in the store to be put on a tab that you can then close when you check out.

This campground does not fill up too quickly. Depending on the time of year, you don't need much advance notice to book a site. If you would like to book for cherry season they recommended calling 4-6 weeks in advance. Otherwise I generally reserve a few weeks before arrival. They do provide a campground map on their website, so you can look ahead and choose your site. If you want one of the larger sites (pull through ones), I would suggest calling sooner rather than later because it sounds like those fill up faster.
