Iron Bridge Park at Belton Lake

    Cool!

This place is kind of out of the way, around 20/30 mins of driving off of the nearest highway/interstate. The area consists of a medium sized gravel parking lot and grassy areas with covered cement picnic tables as well as a boat ramp at the end. There are trash cans and two bathrooms (holes in the ground with four walls). Be prepared for no toilet paper lol! There are no real established sites, outside of plenty of space to park next to picnic tables and a parking lot. There is enough room to get a big rig to come through, park, and pull around. The gravel/ground is tightly packed with plenty of flat areas for tenting as well. For being so far back, the park is pretty busy. There are people that live out here and people that come out here for 12-6 am hunting/fishing/driving. We weren’t bothered at all, despite being in the way. The park is open 24/7 and doesn’t require a permit or pass of any kind. It’s far enough out of the way that the stars were beautiful, and despite being near a popular-ish waterway it did not smell like dead fish.

    Disappointed

There are spacious sites but the amenities leave something to be desired. The showers weren’t that clean and there are no restrooms. I had to call for the code to get into the showers and WiFi access. It seems these should have been in the confirmation emails.

    An amazing Resort

During our brief but enjoyable stay, we appreciated the warm hospitality of the staff members, Riley and Thomas, who were not only welcoming but also well-informed about the amenities and services. We took full advantage of the facilities, including swimming, doing laundry, playing board games, and using the private bathrooms. The exercise room was particularly impressive, and the spacious and clean lots added to the overall positive experience. I forgot to mention that there is even a convenience store that's open from 10-6.

    Well kept RV Park

Well kept RV Park with friendly staff. This park sports an "old side" and "new side". It offers covered sites (extra cost), propane fill station, dumpsters, bath/toilet houses, laundry room, dog park, pool with sun or shaded seating, small storefront, WiFi & cable, free waffle breakfasts on the weekends and a fishing pond. Located just off the highway makes for an easy commute for work or adventures. Some of the sites are quite cramped. It took 20 minutes to get into our spot due to many trees and other campers/ vehicles. Spent one week here and probably would not stay here again due the very loud traffic noises.

    Tradinghouse Lake Park Camping

    Also called McLennan County Park

It threw me off when I saw the name difference, but yes, McLennan County Park is the same place as Tradinghouse. I saw on a website that camping wasn't allowed, but this is said it is. I called the McLennan County Sheriff and they said, "Yeah, people camp there all the time." So that's awesome. Free to camp, too, and now I have a place to stay to ping pong between here and Whitney every 14 days.

Very Nice Park Next to Interstate 35

This is a very nice park that is located next to Interstate 35, so expect some highway noise. That doesn't bother us, and we had a lovely stay. Emily came quickly to meet us near the office after we called the number on the sign. She had us wait while she drove around to make sure we had a nicely shaded site with temperatures expected to be around 100°. Emily then guided us to the site and helped line up our RV for utilities and slide clearances. She was very friendly stayed to chat and make recommendations on things to do and places to eat. The park is well-kept and the sites all looked to have plenty of shade. Still, we were able to use our Starlink dish on the ground behind Site 138 with no drop-outs. Water pressure was good but a little lower one morning when the irrigation system was running. We will happily stay here again the next time we come through Waco!
