Best RV Parks & Resorts near Marlin, TX

Several RV parks operate near Marlin, Texas, with varied site layouts and hookup configurations. Flat Creek RV Resort provides full-hookup sites with 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections for overnight and long-term stays. The gravel sites require some leveling but offer reasonable spacing between neighbors. North Crest RV Park in Waco features level, paved sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp options, picnic tables, and on-site showers approximately 30 miles from Marlin. Brazos Trail RV Park in Riesel accommodates up to 100 RVs with 50-amp electrical hookups, water, and sewer connections. "The sites are gravel and pretty level, with no WiFi, but the campground is well-kept with plenty of shade at most sites," noted one visitor about Flat Creek RV Resort.

Interstate 35 provides the main access corridor to most area RV parks, though smaller country roads leading to some facilities may present challenges for larger rigs. A visitor reported crossing a weight-restricted bridge to reach one property, noting "our 7-ton rig crossed a 10-ton bridge when leaving, and lightly dragged the rear getting onto the bridge." Most parks in the region remain open year-round, with advance reservations recommended during peak travel seasons and for Waco-area visits. Magnolia RV Resort offers a propane fill station and laundry facilities, though some reviewers mention traffic noise from nearby highways. Pets are generally allowed at most facilities, with dedicated dog areas available at select locations. Dump stations and trash service are standard amenities, though placement of sewer connections varies, with one camper noting "sewer is behind the power pole, so you need enough hose to reach."

    Airport Park - Waco Lake

    Airport Park COE, Lake Waco

Airport Park on Lake Waco, in Waco, TX. We really like this park. We were in site 27, which our camp side is shady during the afternoon and evening. Each site has a fire ring, bbq grill, & lantern post. The RV parking pad is asphalt and long. Big Rigs would have no problems here. When we arrived the gravel pad was raked all nice and neat. 50 amp sites are $26 a night. The loop we are in doesn't have the nice restrooms. We are in the loop that has sites 16 - 36. To me, these are the nicer RV sites, if only the restrooms were better. The other 2 loops have really nice restrooms, with private shower rooms. Site 24 looks to be the pick, as it has shade pretty much all day. We will definitely come back to this camp ground.

    Live Oak Ridge

    Excellent Restful Campground

Live Oak Ridge COE Campground is excellently maintain and is a very low-key, restful place to land.  Large sites with ample vehicle parking that offer substantial distance from the neighboring sites give room to bring multiple vehicles or a boat along with the RV.  The sites are well maintained by the hosts who are not obtrusive and just keep a low profile to ensure things are clean and go well. The restroom area is also clean and has showers and toilets. A better-than-typical playground is set in a great interior place for all to enjoy. Water access is through the boat ramp, so don't expect to launch from your RV site since they are elevated far above the water. We stayed in Site 7 (and later extended it to Site 6). Both were easy to back into and fairly level with nice concrete pads, grills, and wonderful covered picnic tables. Both had tree coverage on one side. There are nature trails across the main road and access to Belton and their small but awesome riverwalk area, historic Salado, Still Hollow Lake, the Belton dam (we could see the mural from both sites), Chalk Ridge Waterfalls and Temple, TX within a few minutes. This is a great landing spot for many nearby activities EXCELLENT National Park pricing for 50 amp and water hookups with dump site available.

    Flat Creek RV Resort

Ideal Country Setting Only A Few Miles From Waco

There is nothing I like more than finding a nice place to retreat from a city which allows the comfort of the outdoors and relaxation with the convenience of the neighboring city amenities. It is the perfect blend of both worlds.

This can be a bit difficult for a tent camper however, so again I was able to find an ideal location for my RVing friends at this site. Normally that would instantly lower my rating because I cannot personally utilize the location at this time without a rig, however this site was so impressive I couldn't steer away!

Pulling up to the park the gate is grand. The park itself sits a short 5 minutes away from the city on a quiet road. The park is expansive and the accommodations rest several hundred yards away from the traffic of the small country road. It is so peaceful!!

Sites seemed to be spread nicely to have the sense of community but not being to close to form crowding. Each space is separated by a grassy area which accommodates a picnic table and has enough room for a little stretching room.

When I visited all of the units there seemed to be very well maintained and even though they do have both overnight and long term stay options, nothing seemed to have the "moved in" look (no underpinnings, no long sewage hoses typical of long term parks).

I was very excited to see the large area for walking your dogs, area which allowed space to play and roam, a pond to fish in or to enjoy, a fire pit for community use and very nice shower and laundry facilities.

The roads around the park were wide and well maintained, the green spaces were manicured well and as I visited people were all very friendly. It made me want an RV just so I could visit!

    Tips:

    • To stay at this park make sure you make reservations ahead of time. While there is plenty of space, they do fill up and reservations will ensure your stay especially during the more populated seasons.

    • Take advantage of the free wifi when here, just pulling in I checked it out and noticed it was pretty decent from all areas of the park.

    • Bring your fishing poles! This park has a variety of fish in the stocked pond perfect for a relaxing day at the park.

    Flat Creek RV Resort

A Nice Spot, Perfect Distance From Town

We stayed here long term for work, in our camper trailer. This is a great place, for long or short stays. All sorts of rigs, maybe not quite the place for tents. The owner is very kind. The property is well maintained. Gravel pads, with all the hook ups. It's great not having to move to drain the tanks. There is a community area called the scale house, indoor and outdoor chill spots to enjoy the scenery. A small shower/laundry house, and overflow parking for boats, extra vehicles, etc. The creek runs along side the campground, and herds of sheep roam across the creek with friendly and protective sheep dogs. You can fish in the creek and in the pond located within the sheep field. We really enjoyed this spot.

    Reynolds Creek

Needs improvement but a peaceful stay.

This park is located out in boonies and can be pretty difficult to find. Most people think they are lost trying to get to it, but if you follow North Speegleville road through all the cornfields you will eventually stumble upon it. Believe me, you're not going the wrong way.

Being lakefront property you would expect to see more water, however there is a lot of brush grown up around the lake and sites so it is hard to see. There are also limited places to get down to the water in the park.

There is a nice boat ramp and dock for fishing. It is also pet friendly and equestrian friendly. There is a nice little 1 mile hike were you can bird watch and view the lake Waco, it is very shaded and flat. Then there is a 20 mile hike/ equestrian trail that goes around Lacey point.

Bathrooms and showers need some work, but they do the job. There is no store at the campground, but there is a dollar general located in Speegleville about 4 minutes away. There are picnic tables at ever site along with a fire pit, and also a playground for kids.

The whole park is very secluded and away from street noise which is so lovely. Perfect place for viewing the stars over the water and listening to nature speak around you!

Military Park Fort Hood Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area

    A little outdated

All the pads are concrete and are for the most part level (2x6 under tires or less). Sites are pretty good size and come with a picnic table and overhead cover for it. Deer are everywhere. Has two dump stations on either side of the park. Lots of trees in the Deer Park area. Lots of full timers in the the limited full hook up sites. It’s quiet and pretty clean. Rates are very reasonable. Could use some updating. There is no WiFi and cell service is very limited.

Guide to Marlin

RV campgrounds near Marlin, Texas range from small family-owned properties to larger resorts with varied amenities across multiple cities. Located in central Texas about 30 miles south of Waco, Marlin sits in gently rolling terrain with regional temperatures typically ranging from 35°F in winter to over 95°F during summer months. Most campgrounds operate seasonally with reduced occupancy during winter, though many remain accessible year-round for both overnight travelers and extended-stay campers.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Flat Creek RV Resort offers both creek and lake fishing for guests. "Bring your fishing pole-both a creek and lake for guests to catch and release. Everyone we talked to was very friendly and welcoming," notes one visitor to Flat Creek RV Resort.

Short drives to Waco attractions: Most area campgrounds provide convenient access to Waco destinations. "Quick drive over to see the silos downtown (around 10 minutes I think) and get a croissant at Magnolia Bakery," reported a camper about their experience visiting downtown Waco.

Nature trails: Some properties offer walking paths around their grounds. At Blue Sky I-35 RV Park, campers appreciate "a big open field with a walking path around it. Made our fur babies happy," according to one reviewer.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Campers frequently mention appreciating room between sites. One camper at North Crest RV Park commented, "We loved the trees and nice wide slips. Nice not to be within 5 feet from your neighbor."

Clean facilities: Well-maintained bathhouses rank high in positive reviews. "The bathhouse is clean and pretty new but there is one each Mens and women's bathroom and shower for a long thin park. From our site to the bathhouse was 3 tenths of a mile," noted a visitor.

Friendly management: Personal attention from park operators stands out in reviews. "Emily (Owner) goes over and above to meet your needs during your stay! We stayed two separate nights because we enjoyed it here," shared one guest about North Crest RV Park.

What you should know

Bridge weight restrictions: Some access roads have weight restrictions. When approaching certain campgrounds, watch for posted weight limits on bridges.

Site leveling requirements: Many campgrounds have gravel sites requiring some leveling. "It is a gravel site, so we did have to do some leveling when we got there, and no fire pit," observed one camper at Flat Creek RV Resort.

Highway noise levels: Magnolia RV Resort and similar properties located near major highways experience traffic noise. "Spent one week here and probably would not stay here again due the very loud traffic noises," mentioned one reviewer.

Tips for camping with families

Free breakfast options: Some properties offer complimentary morning meals. "They also offered a free made to order breakfast which was great!" reported a visitor to Blue Sky I-35 RV Park.

Pool access: Swimming facilities provide relief during hot Texas summers. "This park sports an 'old side' and 'new side'. It offers covered sites (extra cost), propane fill station, dumpsters, bath/toilet houses, laundry room, dog park, pool with sun or shaded seating," noted a camper.

Dog-friendly amenities: Many campgrounds accommodate pets with dedicated areas. Belton RV Park received praise for its pet facilities: "The pool and dog park are excellent additions and I really enjoyed that!"

Tips from RVers

Site length considerations: Confirm specific dimensions when booking. "Huge pull through spaces with picnic tables. Convenient to Waco. Will definitely stay again when in town," reported a North Crest RV Park visitor.

Hookup locations: Some parks have unconventional utility placement. Check sewer and electrical connection locations before setting up to ensure adequate hose and cord lengths.

Site navigation challenges: Some properties have tight turning spaces. At Brazos Trail RV Park in Riesel, "Job well done on recent renovations! Nice to have this place cleaned up," observed one visitor, though navigating between sites requires attention.
