Camping near Granger Lake, TX

We stayed 3 nights in spot #62 it was on the corner and really close to the bathrooms. 

We loved the view and the shade.

We saw lots of deer and birds.

We will definitely return!

This is the third campground we’ve stayed at, and it’s conveniently located just 15 minutes from the city, with grocery stores and other essential shops nearby. If your site is close to the interstate, you may hear some road noise, but it didn’t bother us. The facilities are clean, with full hookups, a well-maintained bathhouse, and a laundry room. We’d recommend it to other RVers looking for easy access to the city.

I wasn't very impressed. In my camp area, the grass needed to be cut. The camper pad was made of asphalt. That's not in the best condition. Outside of the park is not the best area. The scenery is pretty nice. For being so close to Austin. I have 5G with T-Mobile. The TV signal was great. Of course, because I'm so close to Austin. There is no Wi-Fi. The hiking trails are really good. I really don't like being so close to the city. Everybody has their own opinion. This is mine. When I camp I don't want to be in the city. If you go outside the gate of this park, you will be in the city.

Normally we try to stay at a full service campground after several nights of boondocking. This was where we chose to stay on our way to South TX to fully charge batteries (no sun for several days) and use showers. We booked the site online (very easy). Campground staff provided very good communication with arrival Instructions, so we went straight to the site. Campground is paved, sites are spacious and level, and shower/bathroom facilities are some of the nicest we’ve seen. We didn’t use the pool but would’ve had we stayed longer. The sites are much closer together than we prefer, however most of the campers were in RVs or large 5th Wheels so that’s what this site caters to It seems. We did hear traffic noise from I35 however, but I don’t think many people here spend much time out of their campers this time of year so that wouldn’t be an issue. We don’t have pets, but there are pet areas around the campground that the guests used frequently.

This place is kind of out of the way, around 20/30 mins of driving off of the nearest highway/interstate. The area consists of a medium sized gravel parking lot and grassy areas with covered cement picnic tables as well as a boat ramp at the end. There are trash cans and two bathrooms (holes in the ground with four walls). Be prepared for no toilet paper lol! There are no real established sites, outside of plenty of space to park next to picnic tables and a parking lot. There is enough room to get a big rig to come through, park, and pull around. The gravel/ground is tightly packed with plenty of flat areas for tenting as well. For being so far back, the park is pretty busy. There are people that live out here and people that come out here for 12-6 am hunting/fishing/driving. We weren’t bothered at all, despite being in the way. The park is open 24/7 and doesn’t require a permit or pass of any kind. It’s far enough out of the way that the stars were beautiful, and despite being near a popular-ish waterway it did not smell like dead fish.

Decent and clean spots with great shade. Very quiet.

Really nice campground with showers and good space to feel away from your neighbors.

We had a dirty campsite and planes roaring overhead in the night.
