Privacy between sites: Tuscarora State Park Campground offers spacious, secluded sites even for tent campers. "A group of us stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. The sites were super spacious and private. There was enough room for a full overlanding setup, three vehicles, a hammock, two dogs and a two person tent with plenty of room to spare," explains Paige H.

Fall foliage viewing: Locust Lake State Park Campground shines during autumn months. "I can't imagine not visiting this park in autumn, but I'm sure it's pretty in summer too. Nice flat trails on site. Tons to do in the surrounding area, don't just limit yourself to this one park," suggests Amber A. Peak color typically occurs from early to mid-October.

Varied terrain challenge: Jim Thorpe Camping Resort features significant elevation changes. "This campground is called Robin HILL for a reason. You will get your exercise walking to the pond, pool, campstore or basketball courts," explains Jen R. Some campgrounds require careful navigation with larger RVs.

Swimming areas: Allentown KOA maintains a pool for family enjoyment. "This campground is cozy, friendly, and has a sweet sounding creek that you camp near. It has many kid friendly amenities as well as being very relaxing," shares Becky M. Most state parks with lakes allow swimming in designated areas only.

Rainy day contingencies: Jim Thorpe Camping Resort has an indoor arcade and is minutes from town attractions. "There is a general store on site, an arcade, a pool, bathrooms with clean showers," notes Jessica W., providing options when outdoor activities aren't possible.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds require careful setup. "For $80 bucks I expected more... The H sites are somewhat swampy," cautions Felix S. about Robin Hill. Bringing extra leveling blocks is recommended for nearly all area campgrounds.
