Cute! Quiet! Quaint!

Beautiful camp ground! Very family oriented and a great place for a weekend getaway in the woods! The access trail to The Pinnacle is a little steep, wouldn’t recommend kids under the age of 12 taking that path.

Great weekend getaway

we just bought a roof top tent and thought it was a great weekend to try it out. although the whole campground was almost booked out, we ended up with a great spot with no hookups and pretty secluded. the bathrooms were very clean, as well as the outhouse, and the general store had what we needed. other than that, we didn’t use any other amenities, just loved out of our site.

Misleading

DISAPPOINTMENT!! Booked a site here, paid the fee for 6 people. A day into the trip they phoned and stated that there was a per tent fee. They charged $80 dollars extra for a second tent. There is nothing written on their site about tent fees. This is deceptive. Yes, they do state that there is a campsite fee for 4 people and a tent. I booked six people, and paid for six when only three came. There are many campsites in this area. They will not see any of my business in the future. Beware folks, I'm not the first person they did this too. Legally I could void the transaction but you sow what you reap. Karma is a bitch. Peaceful Woodlands Family Campground is my recommendation for honest folks. You can see the same boulder trails.

Great Campground!

Hands down-you must come for the view of the field of rocks. A natural wonder you cannot miss! Owners and staff very friendly. Bathrooms and showers-CLEAN! Snack stand has great ice cream and food. And if you have small children, there is plenty for them to do. My only complaint is that the site we stayed didn’t have sewer hook up. But that’s it-overall great camping and we will continue to visit.

Family Campground with great hiking

We have been to blue rocks twice for tent camping and it is one on my favorite campgrounds. The tent sites are separated from the RVs and are very large sites, so you have some space from your neighbors. There are hiking trails right from the campground to access the Pinnacle, Pulpit rock and Appalachian trail. The boulder field in the campground is great, too. We loved hanging out on the boulders in the morning, or star watching from them in the evening. The only con was that the water is a bit of a walk from the tents. It could be imporoved by adding even a simple water spicket closer to the tents.

Large campground in Pennsylvania near the AT

"Rocksylvania". According to hikers on the AT, this is what they call Pennsylvania, as they hike through this section of the state. And Blue Rocks Campground doesn't dissapoint.

This campground sits in the woods and rolling hills just below the Appalachian Trail. Nice huge campground. The RV sites are mainly situated at the botom section, and the tent camping is pretty much on the upper portion of the site. The tent sites are pretty spacious. There are also places to buy wood nearby (very economically priced) and the campground sells it also. Worse comes to worse, there is a lot of forage wood on the site as well.

There are plenty of hiking trails, and a "yellow blaze" trail that leads directly to the Appalachian trail (AT). Take a hike up to "Pinnacle Rock" on the AT, and you can catch a nice view. There are rattlesnakes and Copperheads in the area, so be sure to act like you've got some sense.

And not to be missed is the "Blue Rocks" river of rocks, which is situated on the campground, and the reason the site got its name.

Clean, large and interesting having the blue rock boulders there.

Very expensive for what is offered. No water or electric at tent sites. Off season $36 peak season starting May 1st $40. Bathrooms were a hike from site 120. Pricey for what is offered. I'd only take this camping area again as a last resort as I could've done just as well creating a site on my own in the many open spaces located in the area.

Unique family campground with glacier rock field

Blue Rocks family campground is close to I78 however it is still off the beaten path. It is very peaceful to camp here as you have different types of environments. You can be down near the creek and in the open more, in the wooded areas, or you can be near the corn field and glacier rock field. Our campsite had a great view of the glacier rock field and the corn field. Upon arrival we realized that our camper was not going to fit on the site we reserved. The office was very easy to work with and we easily traded sites. It worked out great as we were able to get a full hookup without having to pay anything extra! There were bath houses close by however they were still closed. The outhouses however we open for use which was nice for our friends who were tent camping. There is really something for everyone at this campground. There is a pool, playground, arcade, fishing pond, glacier rock field to explore and hiking trials. Not to mention a great place for bike riding as well. Our friends were able to camp right aside of us in their tent and use our RV site for cooking and campfire. We really enjoy it at this campground and are looking forward to going back again. We even staked out some of the good sites so next time we know exactly what we will be getting.

This is my go to camp spot

Blue rocks is the best family campground within 5 hours of philadelphia. Hands down. They have everything you need from primitive sites to cabins to rent. The staff is always friendly and it’s always great time. I can’t wait to go back.

First trip with our new camper

We wanted to try a campground that wasn’t too far away for our first trip. Blue Rocks was pretty nice overall. When we were there it was April so most of the facilities were not open yet. Facilities that we did use seemed decent though. We really enjoyed our view of the boulder field from our site and we enjoyed climbing around on the rocks. My wife and i hiked up to the overlook from the back of the campground during the off season but during our camping trip we decided to take the short drive to Hawk Mountain instead because is a much easier hike for our son.

Hiking Hotspot

Stayed here 3 days and 2 autumn nights. Our site was nice, though not very defined as far perimeters. We were in the horseshoe row housing a few 5th wheels and small travel trailers in one corner. We were one of the smaller travel trailer in the corner. Nice and no real complaints aside from not being super scenic.

Bathhouse was newly remodeled and very nice. A lot of amenities scattered throughout the campground to check out. The highlight of the campground is the River of Rocks. It truly is a surreal sight. Kids had fun exploring. The campground is a few minutes from a AT trailhead.

If we stayed here again, we tried to get a more scenic site along the creek or nestled in the woods a bit more.  Overall a great experience.

Family Campground

Great campground with lots of amenities. The staff was friendly, the store had essentials and more, and there was great hiking right from the grounds. Our site was a little rocky so he prepared with a good mat/mattress if tent camping. Our site was on a little stream which was relaxing. All around great private campground.

Fun, friendly, beautiful, close to hikes!

Lovely camp site with access to a lot of amenities, all the while keeping a “primative” feel. Pool, playground, camp store, bike and golf cart rentals. Super easy access to Appalachian trail. Trail heads begin inside the campsite. Outhouses could use a little work. But a further walk will take you to flushing toilets and showers that are nice.

Our go to!

This is a great spot for camping both alone and with friends. It is right off the Pinnacle Trail so you have access to great hikes and amazing views. The campsite has a great community calendar, and although I personally have never participated, I know that other campers have a wonderful time. They have free bathroom and shower stations that are always maintained regularly, plus they have outhouses scattered throughout the grounds. I also like that there are areas for what you are looking for. I am a tent camper, and it's great to be able to camp without getting stuck near an RV with it's hookups running. My only complaint is that the last time we were there, they had cut down some trees and the ground was wonky on our site.
