Several RV parks in the region maintain seasonal operations, with most facilities closing between late October and mid-April. Reservations are recommended during summer weekends and fall foliage season when occupancy peaks. Cell service varies throughout the area, with stronger signals near Butler and more limited coverage in some outlying campgrounds. Most RV parks welcome pets with standard leash requirements. Propane is available at select locations, though not all campgrounds offer on-site filling stations. According to one visitor, "My boys were able to walk across the road to get to the pond that was well stocked with fish." During winter months, RV camping options become significantly limited, with Evergreen Park RV Resort being one of the few year-round operations in the region.

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

Big Resort with lots of trees

This is a RV resort close to a lake with a lot of seasonal campers. It is busy on the weekend but was very quiet during the week. The sites are close, but not unreasonably close. Good mix of pull through and back in and is big rig friendly. Plenty to do for the kids. Pool looks nice, was not open yet for the season.

    Amish Country Campsites

    Amish campsite

Very small campgrounds literally next to if not part of a corn field extremely cramped back if our camper was 2ft from the camper behind us and 15 ft from the campers left to right. When we left we had to knock on camper doors to ask folks to move their cars so we could pull out of out parking spot. The other campers were very nice lots of local folks they were fun to talk to. The camp site did have clean showers. Hot water. And. Clean restroom facilities. The dump station isn’t the best it is on a hill so dumping ones waste tanks completely could be a challenge The owners were polite but short The sites aren’t the best the electric is only 30 amp. And very dated they did have water hookups at each site. I didn’t take any pictures as there wasn’t anything to see at the campground other than campers packed in like sardines It is close to town and the shops. Everything closed at 5:00 including gas stations As they say any port in a storm. So as a last resort I guess it’s is okay. Just don’t plan to leave after 5:00 pm unless you have a full tank of gas. No ada camp sites. They are pet friendly

    River Trail Crossing

    Nice little campground

River Trail Crossing is privately owned, small campground (which we like) but nice and quiet. Sites include tents, small rigs and large pull through sites for big rigs. Sites located on the river are water and electric. Sites off the river have 50 amp and 30 amp. State route 95 runs to the right of the campsite so if you reserve any sites on the river (right side) you will have some traffic noise from the bridge. We reserved spot 32, farthest site to the right on the river. We loved it. The river was only about knee to hip deep. Most family’s floated with tubes and saw some kayaks. Not much for fishing at this particular section of the river. There is a paved bike/walking trail behind the campground - B&O trail. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. They do have 2 dumpsites available. We really enjoyed this campground, owners were very friendly and offer firewood and propane if needed. Mohican state park is only 10-15 minutes away which is really nice for hiking and fishing as well. We will be back!

    Cross Creek Camping Resort

    Excellent Campground!

Cross Creek Camping Resort in Delaware, Ohio is a very nice campground with friendly staff and lots of amenities! There are large back-in and pull-thru sites, each with grass, tree, picnic table, and fire pit. They are 30/50 amp with FHU. The campground has lots of fun things for the family such as swimming pool, playground, basketball, tennis, dog run, laundry, yard games, and so much more! The store is stocked with snacks, souvenirs, clothing, camping supplies, holiday decor, etc. We love the large shade trees at every site. It is a blessing on those hot summer days. All in all, a great campground! Check it out when in the area. 👍🏻😉

    Berkshire Campgrounds

    Incorrect pricing

The price advertised on The Dyrt is incorrect. It is not $38.50/day. We paid $50.29 with full hook ups. Very clean, staff very nice, but guests are not allowed without registering at the office. Many seasonal/full time residents which made for quite a bit of early morning traffic. Beautiful fishing pond with well groomed trails. Dogs are allowed off leash on the trails. Staff very pet friendly and courteous. Well appointed camp store. Water pressure excellent. Electric well within standard. Gravel pads, our site was off 2”.

    Gotta Getaway RV Park

    Ok

This was an overnight stay on our way to Pennsylvania. It would be a bonus for big rigs as the pull Throughs are flat and easy to get into. We tend to prefer a back in because it usually gives us a bit more protection on the backside. Unfortunately, the site we were assigned took three blocks to level up, the the power was on the wrong side and our picnic table was in the back area of another camper. The bathroom was nice and close and handy. Some great effort has been made to make it attractive with two-tone tile but that is all overshadowed by the amount of spiders and bugs. I am a full-time RV year and shower all over the United States and this was one of the buggiest ever. The majority of this campground is for seasonals. There are some very nice seasonal lots with a small pond in their back Yard. The owner was very friendly and helpful on the phone. Serves a variety of needs.

    Tree Haven Campground

    Great first RV experience.

Great little campground. My wife and I spent a month out there in a fifth wheel to see if we like the lifestyle. Very nice pool(clean). Great walking trail back through the woods. Pet friendly and the bathrooms were very nice. Well....I guess we did! We are now in a search for a Diesel pusher to go full-time!

    Alum Creek State Park Campground

Beautiful State Park close to Columbus Ohio

Alum Creek State Park is a beautiful park and great campground just outside the hustle and bustle of downtown Columbus and minutes away from attractions such as the Columbus Zoo.

The campground has good sized sites and is wooded throughout with clean bath houses, well maintained roads, and easy access for big rigs.

There is also a very nice dog park in the park including dog beaches with lake access for your pups to swim.

We love this campground and the beautiful lake and appreciate the easy access to local attractions, shopping, and more.

Guide to Butler

Butler's campground options extend beyond the typical RV parks, with tent camping and cabin accommodations available throughout the surrounding Mohican River region. The area sits at approximately 1,100 feet elevation with a humid continental climate featuring warm summers and cold winters. Most campgrounds operate seasonally between April and October, though a few remain open year-round for winter camping enthusiasts.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: Multiple campgrounds offer stocked ponds and river access for anglers. At Whispering Hills Jellystone RV Park, families report success with catch-and-release fishing. "My boys were able to walk across the road to get to the pond that was well stocked with fish. They were very excited to pull in some big ones," notes one visitor.

Water recreation: The Mohican River provides kayaking, canoeing, and tubing opportunities accessible from Mohican Adventures Campground. "We took advantage of their seven mile canoe trip which was rich with scenery... which took about 2.15 hours to traverse in our canoe," writes one camper.

Biking trails: Butler-area campgrounds offer both paved paths and mountain biking trails. River Trail Crossing RV Park provides direct access to the B&O bike trail. "Bike trail access right from the campground. Golf nearby, Amish shops, canoeing. Great area to visit," reports one reviewer.

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many campgrounds maintain spotless restrooms and shower facilities. At Berlin RV Park & Campground, reviewers consistently mention cleanliness. "SPOTLESS bathrooms and I mean SPOTLESS. Lots to do for kids. Sand Volleyball, basketball court, tetherball, corn hole area and playground," writes one camper.

Amish country proximity: Campgrounds on the eastern side of Butler provide access to Ohio's Amish communities. "Centrally located in Berlin, OH. Office staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about local attractions and dining," notes a visitor to Scenic Hills RV Park.

Indoor pools: Several RV parks Butler, Ohio campers recommend have indoor swimming facilities for all-weather use. "We loved our stay. This place is so nice and clean. The staff is wonderful. Every site is full hookup," shares a camper at Evergreen Park RV Resort.

What you should know

Seasonal operations: Most Butler area campgrounds close during winter months, with limited exceptions. "We camped here the second weekend in December and had the park mostly to ourselves. There were only 3 other campers there," reports a visitor to Evergreen Park RV Resort.

GPS challenges: Navigation systems may direct RVs down unsuitable roads. "Getting here proved to be tricky, as it seems all of the GPS apps and my Garmin routed us on a county road that is not fit for RVs of any type," warns a camper at Wally World.

Campsite spacing: Site size and privacy vary significantly between campgrounds. "Overall Very nice campground. Family fun activities clean shower house. RV tent and cabins available," notes one camper, while another mentioned, "Many sites were set up as buddy sites so we had to share our outside space with our neighbors. It was tight and awkward."

Tips for camping with families

Recreation amenities: Several campgrounds near Butler offer extensive children's activities. At Whispering Hills Jellystone RV Park, families appreciate the organized events. "Great activities including mini golf, pool, jumping pad and frisbee golf. Cabins and RV spots available and the staff is friendly," writes one reviewer.

Quieter camping: For a more peaceful experience with children, consider less densely packed campgrounds. At Kokosing River Campground, one visitor notes, "Nice, small, shaded, well maintained campground. Wasn't crowded when we visited in Sep. Beautiful lake, nice a quiet. Lots of waterfowl."

Swimming options: Several campgrounds provide swimming facilities for children. "We tent camped and had a private spot in the woods which we loved. The campgrounds covers all the basics. We fished and swam in the indoor pool," shares a Mohican Adventures visitor.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: Choose sites based on shade and layout needs. At Mohican Adventures, "Our pull through site was plenty level and accommodated our 33' camper and truck." Another camper at Scenic Hills RV Park reported, "Asked for a shaded area...got a perfect one that had shade all day."

Utility locations: At some rv parks near Butler, Ohio, hookup placement requires planning. "The one and only issue is that water and electricity is located in the rear area of RV, while sewer connections are toward the front. I personally used 50' of water line and 30' of sewer line," notes a Scenic Hills RV visitor.

Reservation timing: Butler-area campgrounds fill quickly during peak seasons. "We were grateful we found room on the BZ labor day weekend," writes one camper, while others suggest booking well in advance for summer weekends.
