Best Campgrounds near Wildwood Crest, NJ

We've stayed here on multiple occasions. The trailers are great and equipped with everything you need. Ours had 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. Another time, we brought our own RV. Great water pressure and electric hookup. They have additional showers available in a separate building. Very clean with hot water. There's a small playground and a walking/running track. There's a pond you can use a canoe. They rent them in the office. The laundry facilities are amazing! I love to go here and return home without tons of stuff to wash (and it's free!). The facilities are very safe. The gate is operated 24/7 by a security guard. I feel very safe here with my kids even when they're playing on the road since the speed limit is 15 mph (I think). The staff here is always very friendly and helpful. There is nothing to buy once you're here and if you have something delivered they will have to meet you at the gate.

The beach and the shops are about 2-5 minute drive max. Beware, finding a parking spot at the beach is tough and not the cheapest.

It is a great town and we love it. I am grateful we have this available to us since we don't have many weekends together!

We got a site to stay on our way through to OBX. We booked and arrived after hours, which wasn’t an issue as they were like 3% occupied. Sites were pretty level (within 2 inches) and had centrally located bathhouse. We were at the north campground. The winds were nuts and over 50mph. We switched sites to spare our slide side, so caution to look at windy before going. The views of the bridge were amazing. The noise of the coast guard waking up is alarming, but neat. It was trumpets and sounded like a horse race at 7am!

As a returning traveler to Spacious Skies Campgrounds – Country Oaks in Dorothy, New Jersey, I continue to be impressed by the peaceful atmosphere, well-maintained facilities, and welcoming hospitality, even during the winter months. The sites are spacious with full hookups that easily accommodate larger RVs, making it an ideal spot for both short and extended stays.

One of the highlights of staying at this campground is the exceptional service, and much of that is thanks to the wonderful host, Sadie. From the moment you arrive, she greets you with warmth and enthusiasm, making you feel like a valued guest rather than just another traveler passing through. Her attentiveness and dedication to ensuring every guest has a comfortable and enjoyable stay truly set this campground apart. Even in the colder months, this campground remains a quiet and relaxing escape. The grounds are clean and well-kept, with easy access to nearby nature spots for peaceful walks and exploration. With hosts like Sadie making sure everything runs smoothly, it’s no surprise that I keep coming back.

After such consistently wonderful experiences, we are thrilled to take the next step and plan to purchase a seasonal site in the near future. We can’t wait to make Spacious Skies Country Oaks our home away from home!

General: 129 sites with water and electricity, eight tent sites, one island site, two yurts, and eight cabins. 

Site Quality: All are level and sand/grass. There are many trees and reasonable separation between sites (although you can easily see your neighbors). A large picnic table and fire ring complete the site. Our site had a water view and was peaceful. 

Bath/Shower house: Bathhouses are located in the A and C loops plus additional ones by the tent camping area. All seemed to be reasonably clean and were cleaned on a rolling basis, starting at 10 am for the A loop. The shower had immediate hot water, but you only get about 30 seconds of water before you have to push the button again. A little clunky but a good way to save water. 

Activities/Amenities: So much to do! Bike rentals are free (donations accepted), there are several hiking/biking/horse trails, disc golf, and canoe/kayak/peddle boat rentals (in season). 45-minute Pontoon boat tours are available on weekends Memorial Day– Labor Day. There are several boat docks if you bring your own boat. There is a small camper store/office that closed shortly after our arrival. There is a single washer/dryer in Loop C. I was mystified that you could only use liquid detergent (I use laundry sheets). Because there is only one for the entire campground, I wouldn’t count on doing laundry. If you have kiddos, try and get a site in Loop A – there is a nice and educational play area (plus a game I’d never heard of– Gaga ball). There is an additional playground in the day-use area, plus a volleyball net. There is also a nature center. Recycling and dumpsters between Loops A and B and another between Loops C and D. 

We camped here several years ago but in the off-season, and wanted to kayak among the bald cypress trees (I highly recommend this). Glad we came back!

This place has been great to us Even though we are tent camping in the middle of winter we have still made it work it has great warm bathrooms that are very clean and sanitary they clean them everyday faithfully we have hot showers we have laundry facilities it's on the border of a beautiful water they have a camp store that could provide everything that you could need every site has barbecue/hot fire pits just a very comfortable; very hospitable everyone's very friendly very willing to help you out everybody's giving and it's just been a very good experience and I would recommend this place for anybody.

General: There are two units to this state park campground - one north of the Charles W. Cullen Memorial Bridge and one on the south side. We stayed on the south side, so this review focuses on this part of the park. The south side has over 300 campsites, some with hookups and some without. I don’t know what the difference is between the designated tent sites and the sites with no hookups. Regardless of which type of site you choose, there is NO privacy/separation between sites, however, we were there on a Monday the week after Memorial Day and while the sites with the hookups were completely full, there were plenty of empty non-hookup sites. 

Site Quality: All of the non-hookup sites are sand/grass/gravel and completely level; the hookup sites have paved camper pads (and are also level). As mentioned above, there is zero privacy/separation between sites, but this is the price you pay for easy and close beach access! 

Bath/Shower house: Reasonably clean, especially being so close to the ocean. No garbage receptacle which was slightly annoying. The utility hooks are outside of the showers compromising some privacy. I didn’t use the shower so I cannot comment further. 

Activities/Amenities: This is a popular fishing spot on the inlet. There is direct access to the beach under the bridge where there are restaurants, concessions, and other activities at the Big Chill Beach Club. There is also a pedestrian walkway on the bridge which was kind of cool. The playground is large and modern. There is a camper store, but it was not open when we were there. The dumpsters are a bit of a walk depending on where your site is located. Our site was almost directly under the bridge (and also a power pole!) but this was cool, especially at night when the bridge was lit up.

I’m glad we were not there on a weekend OR in the hookup sites; we had no neighbors directly on either side of us so it felt more private, but I would imagine that on weekends when all sites are completely full, it would be a different story!

Good site space.. no check in before time. We were there Halloween so all sites full. Great biking(mountain and gravel). All in..would stay again

We stayed at this campground to be close to Ocean City for Ocean Calling music festival in September 2024...It is a great family rv Park...Lots of amenities...clean...close to OC or Historic Berlin...After the in-season fee and lock site fee...our nightly overall cost was $145...I will stay again next year if we attend the music festival. Only 4 stars b/c the showers need upgrading.

Doesnt allow tent camping

I went there very often as a kid with my mom and her husband my grandparents met Wonder earful friends had a blast it was such fun going there for weeks at a time ine time went for a whole month it's good to see it still looks the same

  The 5th & last state on our East Coast trek is Delaware! 

 We took the ferry from Cape May & it was a novelty for us. We enjoyed it so much! 

  The state park is just a half mile on the left when you pull out.

   For Delaware I had my heart set on Cape Henlopen State Park. The sites go fast & I felt lucky to get the site I ended up with. When we got there we found out a water main broke& there was no water. Fortunately, we only went a day without. 

 There are cabins  & primitive sites with their own bath house. The water/electric sites are in rows A-F. We were in B 14.The sites are laid out at an angle, but some were a straight backin. The even A sites- you park your rig or car on the road in a straight line & you get a big wooded site. Not sure if these sites have electricity.

There's 2 dump stations on the way out. 

There's shower houses for E/F/T, the G loop& on the B loop road. They were clean. There's an asphalt trail leading through the main sites for bathroom access. It's clearly marked on the map, so keep it in mind when you pick a site.

 There are some pullthroughs that can take big rigs. The sites are not uniform, some larger, some smaller. Watch the site dimensions or you might not be able to fit your vehicle AND camper on the site. It HAS to all be on the asphalt behind the white line.

  There are combo toilet/showers which I'm not fond of. You're a tenter & want to go for your morning BM& all the doors are locked with people showering. :(  They're clean.

The camp store/ laundry is the building next to that. The playground is also right there.

 This was my husbands favorite campground on our trip. It was a very enjoyable place!

   This park has a LOT of activities: the beach, a nice nature center. Fort Miles for WW 2 history. Biking is hugely popular & they have bike rentals at the nature center if you forgot yours. You can climb a WW 2 watchtower. There's hiking trails, a fishing pier. So much to do.

Lots of good restaurants in the area also.

We have been here many times before and it continues to be our favorite. Every weekend there’s a band or Dj at the beach at night and every visit we have made friends. There are usually food trucks and things for the kiddos like bounce houses during the day but just check the website for events (always subject to change so don’t hold that against them) People are always super friendly, kind and welcoming. The rules are what the standard should be for all campgrounds and even if you bend them a bit they aren’t jerks about it if you aren’t. We LOVE it and always hate to leave even though we pay the $25 to stay to 8pm on departure day, it’s never long enough. It truly is our happy place.

My familiy an I stayed at Ocean City Campground for a weekend get away. The staff was was very friendliy and the campstore/snack stand was impressive. The campground has a nice pool and covered area. They also had organized activities. The site we had was nice, It was level and well kept as were all the other sites we saw. The sights do seem a little on the smaller side though. Cell service with AT&T was good overall. This campground is about a 15 minute drive from Ocean City. There are plenty of stores close by as well.

This was our 5th and final trip to this campground. This time campground seemed to have LOTS OF little things that needed upkeep.

Positive - close to Cape May, nice pool

Negative - lots of airplane noise all day (due to local airport), nightly sites are slowly being turned into permanent sites. Lake seemed filled with algae on sides. Store was nice but not stocked as previous trips.

I get you need to have rules to keep order, but when I say the people at this campground were a little extra, I mean it. We stayed 2 nights at Land & Shore and the first night was Friday night and all 6 families that are members with our own sites were hanging out around a fire pit and at 1016pm someone security person drove by with one headlight and told us at 11pm we would have to pit our fire out. I think it was a little bit overkill and there was other campers that had a fire going, we were not being loud or anything and when she came by or anything so we didn't understand the urgency of telling us that, plus when did quiet time mean you couldnt sit by the campfire. The next day when I was in the hot tub my daughter walked up to me to ask if I could get her a drink and she was not about to get into the water but the over concerned lifeguard walked up to say ... you need to be 18 to be on the hot tub and we all looked at each other that were in, and the old man next to us says well we all are and he said we'll she's not and he replied for me l, that good thing she wasn't in then ... let a parent be a if you see someone not obeying the rules, okay, but we were, and we don't need your 2 cents because you're not even 18. I liked the area but wouldn't go back to this same campground, the sites are way too close for me and your practically on top of your neighbors, but we went with family so... the beach is within 10ish minutes and is beautiful but your suppose to have passes, we biked around the area and along the beach it was very nice. I did like the lake and waterpark. However, the water in the waterpark was ice cold.

nice clean campsites with good electric and water hookups. Great activates at the lake and playground. Site was level. Bath house was a little run down , but serviceable.  Overall good value for the price.

Very nice campground! It seems as everything has recently been updated! Pool was very nice with splash pad for the kiddos. Pavilion and camp store was brand new. Mini golf was Free yes free and also new. They also had a nice corn hole area. Our site was one of the bigger sites and was easy to back into. Site 181. Would recommend and we will be returning!
