Three separate campground sections spread across Belleplain State Forest, each with a different character and amenity set. The CCC section is the only one with electric and water hookups at individual sites, making it the first to fill, often weeks or months out. Sites throughout the forest run large, with reviewers consistently noting generous spacing and enough room to park multiple vehicles alongside an RV and additional tents.
Cell service is essentially absent across all three sections. AT&T performs marginally better than Verizon or T-Mobile, but as one reviewer put it, "there'd be way too many trees for Starlink." Plan accordingly and download any maps before arrival, since the internal roads can be difficult to navigate, particularly in fall when leaf cover obscures lane markings and site numbers.
Lake Nummy sits at the center of camp life here. Kayak and canoe rentals are available on-site, and the North Shore section puts tent campers within easy walking distance of the water. The campground also has hiking trails, bike-friendly paths, a playground, and a nature center that runs scheduled family programming. Firewood is sold at the front office. Pets are welcome with proof of vaccination and a leash. "The bathrooms and showers were immaculate," notes Mary F., though bathroom availability varies by section and at least one facility in the CCC area has been closed for an extended period without notice in booking materials.
RV campers should be aware of a few practical limitations. The single dump station serves all three sections and sits on uneven ground, and wait times on holiday weekends can stretch to two hours or more. CCC road widths are technically two-way but feel narrow. The max RV length is 35 feet. The Jersey Shore is accessible from here, with Sea Isle City a short drive away, and the area around Woodbine has campgrounds near Woodbine if Belleplain is fully booked. Nearby alternatives include Scenic Riverview Campground to the northeast and Lake and Shore RV Resort to the southeast.
Electric sites book out quickly, especially on summer and holiday weekends, so reservations well in advance are strongly advised for the CCC section.
