Deep Branch Family Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Quiet mornings and low-key neighbors define the experience at Deep Branch Family Campground, set within Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge outside Milton, Delaware. The campground has both open and wooded sites, all with water and electric hookups, and a dump station on site. A honeywagon service runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for campers who need it. Sites are on hard sand and run fairly level, which makes setup straightforward.

Roads through the campground are narrow, and larger rigs have reported some difficulty navigating to their sites. Reviewers with rigs up to 38 feet have made it work, but it takes care. The listed maximum is 30 feet, so drivers of longer vehicles should contact the campground before booking. One recurring note worth knowing: a nearby farm occasionally produces an odor, though it comes and goes and most reviewers treated it as a minor inconvenience rather than a dealbreaker.

Most of the sites are occupied by seasonal campers, with transient spots scattered throughout. The bathrooms are functional and consistently described as clean, if dated. Jeff W. notes the campground has "both open and wooded sites, all offering water and electric," and rates the overall value as strong compared to campgrounds closer to the Delaware coast. Pets are welcome, and there is room for kids to move around. Flies and mosquitoes have come up in reviews, so packing repellent is a reasonable precaution.

Campers looking at places to camp around Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge have options at different price points and styles. Brumbleys Family Park is the closest alternative, less than a mile north.

A little tight

We have a 38 ft motor home with a Jeep in tow. It was tight getting to the site due to narrow roads. Overall was fairly quiet.

Quiet and Friendly

We stayed here for about a week, it was inexpensive and close to all of the places we wanted to visit without being right in the middle of a tourist hotspot. The pool was nice, so was the store and the rec room. Staff was friendly and everyone was super quiet and respectful. The only downside was the foul smell ever time you left your RV, which I think maybe it had something to do with a nearby farm. It wasn’t there every day so it really wasn’t that big of a deal to me. Lots of room for kids to run or ride bikes. My dogs had plenty of room to walk and play so I was happy and the back in sites were huge so my husband was happy. We have a 40’ TT and we had water hookup and 50 amp service. We did not have sewer hookups but they come out with a wagon m,w,f which you can sign up for 1 or all 3 if you want at the office. The bathrooms/showers we ok I’ve seen better and I’ve seen worse. They seemed clean but were out dated. It would only take a little bit of TLC to make a marked improvement. I would rate them a 3 out of 5 on average and we travel a lot.

Great value, quiet, close to the beach.

Pros: very close to the beach Quiet and respectful Friendly staff Clean bathrooms Super reasonable price Other campers are great

Cons: FLIES - idk if this is something they can do anything about. The permanent sites don’t seem to take great care of their sites/trailers so there are some eyesores around.

Recommendation for the staff: spray for mosquitoes.

Affordable near the Delaware Beaches

Deep Branch Family Campground has both open and wooded sites, all offering water and electric. In addition to a dump station, the campground has a free honeywagon available upon request. Most sites are on hard sand and fairly level. The road through the campsite is a bit tight, but we were able to navigate our 37 foot motorhome. Most of the sites are seasonal campers, and the transient sites are scattered throughout the campground. Wonderful, friendly people. Clean. It is a short drive to the beaches, but the rate is so much better than other campgrounds that it's worth it.
