Best Campgrounds near Henderson, NV

When you pull off the road, don’t be afraid of the gravel road on the left. It leads you up to the top of the mesa. The mesa is large and flat. We drove our super C to the middle and spent 3 wonderful nights here. Ground is flat and rocky, so bring a camp carpet.

Came back out to Willow Beach again. As always we had a great time. The staff at the Store / Marina are always friendly and helpful. The campsite and campground facilities are very clean. Great Camp Host as well. We will be back next month.

Loved finding this place a year ago but the road down was pretty gnarley but they have since fixed it and any 2wd can make it.

This is a beautiful campground, the facilities are impeccably clean. Camp sites are spacious, level and really well maintained. No cell service but they do have medium quality WiFi. We would absolutely stay here again.

Right before Valley of Fire entrance, it’s a very nice spot in the middle of the desert, but very accessible for RVs

Long bumpy road to get to (20 min of driving ruts).

No ATT service (with booster) otherwise would have stayed.

Nice clean RV park. Very reasonably price, easy to get to. Full hookups, pool, coin laundry, very nice bathrooms/showers around. Wide streets make it easy to get your rig in the spot. Big and small rig spots. No tent sites.

Nice localisation, quiet, right outside Valley of fire state park ! Great view and weather. Dirt road not to rough !

We stayed in a “deluxe” pull-through site for two nights. Friendly staff, they help you park from the gate with a golf cart, super clean facility. Multiple dog areas, including a large, multi-run area.

It’s a quiet which is nice. There is a store and boat dock down at the end of the road, but the water is low. Weather is perfect.

Cute little campground. Busy, but fun as able to find a spot for one night. Try to get spot 8 if you can because it’s certainly the coolest spot backed right up to a huge rock

The campsites don’t offer a whole lot of privacy in the winter months and people let their dogs walk all over. It also smells like poop really bad, I’m assuming from wild donkeys? Also only a few good sites for tents, otherwise you’ll be right by your fire.

The camp sites are nestled in a high bush growth.

When you pull up to the campsite, you will immediately be intimidated by the steep and windy road up the cliff to access the campsites. It's actually quite wide, smooth, and easy to drive up without any issues (27ft travel trailer). Don't let that deter you. 

Stayed here in January, so the 10 degree difference from Vegas wasn't necessarily a good thing. Probably a huge plus in the summer.  At the top of the hill there are a few boondocking spots that are featured in most of the pictures. About a mile back I found a hilltop spot along one of the side roads with great views. However, it was VERY windy exposed at the top of a hill like that, with winds rushing down the main mountain. 

Other reviewers mentioned the rehab camp, which I visited while exploring the back roads one day. It's not ideal to have that nearby, but didn't have any issues throughout my stay. There are employee cars and companies providing services driving back there all day, but it's not a big deal. 

Couple miles away is the visitor center for the mountains, along with a resort with a restaurant. Only services are back down the mountain towards Vegas so come completely filled up when you make the trip up the mountain. Also a ski hill if you wind around the mountain, but probably 20-30 miles away. 

Did see a few burros grazing around the area, but didn't make it to my campsite. There is a cool slot canyon at the entrance. You can either park at the lot by the road and walk about 1/2 mile, or drive back down the single track to park closer.

Quiet, lots of room between campsites, and beautiful view of sunset and sunrises.

This is next door to an active gun range. You will hear gunfire. If that makes you uncomfortable, you should not plan on staying here.

Just outside of the facility is a massive flat area for camping and parking. It is on BLM land, however, if you plan on staying here I recommend giving security a heads up. Knowing this is BLM land they should not give you a hard time, but if they do, remind them of your right to stay on public lands, or give them the info to call the local Blm office.

** There are no services nearby! The nearest gas station is 25 minutes away.**

The location is about 7 mi from highway 160. It's about 25 minutes to Pahrump, and about 40 minutes to the outskirts of Vegas.

The entrance and exit off of the paved road is easy with very little obstacles to maneuver. There are existing fire pits too. There are a ton of off-roading trails in the area, and I hear this area is incredible for spotting reptiles and desert tortoises.

From the main camping area there is a road that heads slightly East to an additional area with another set of secluded spots. These more secluded spots are not for big motorhomes IMO, though a truck and trailer should be okay to get out there.

I stayed here for a few days in January and was impressed with the peace and quiet (I was the only one here) and sweeping Mountain views.

Dark, quiet, flat and easy to get to

Ivanpah is a world-renowned spot for land sailing.  The BLM has set the playa aside for use only by non-motorized vehicles and the lake is fantastic!  All types of land yachts, kite buggies and other wind-powered craft sail there. 

Motorized vehicles must stay off the lake to avoid rutting the surface.  

The area is closed and no vehicle movement is permitted when the surface is wet - you'll probably get stuck if you try.

There is a bathroom kiosk with picnic tables about half-way to the prime sailing area, which is about 3 miles from the turnoff at turn by the state lottery in Primm.

The larger dry lake is on the west side and a smaller lake is on the east, behind the casinos.

A great spot before visiting Valley of Fire. Leveled, gravel, Fire pits. On the other hand, busy all year round with people running their generators all night, be aware.

Beautiful scenery but under flight path for airport and motorcycles up early on weekend.

Numerous spots although quite busy. Lots of cars driving around. Our Class B van had no problems but we did not venture out too far. Very spotty cell signal. Great view of lake Mead and mountains. The sunset was incredible!
